I love the brilliance. Enjoy the uniqueness of the older ships.

You hit the nail on the head. My first cruise was on Radiance of the Seas, so it holds a special place in my heart. I also took a European cruise on Brilliance. In addition to seeming much more “hand crafted”, for lack of a better term, inside, I think these ships are by far the most beautiful from an exterior view as well. They look very sleek and like a proper ship, rather than looking like a floating apartment building like the newer ones. One thing you didn’t mention is that the pool tables on the Radiance class are auto-leveling. They have a gyroscopic mechanism that counteracts ship movement to keep the table level. It’s fascinating to sit there as a spectator and see what appears to be the tables tilting back and forth, when it’s actually the ship that is moving around the table. A tip: The Seaview Cafe (if it’s still called that) is located on the highest deck at the far aft end of the ship. It’s a little tricky to find, which means that for most of the cruise, especially the first few days, it remains undiscovered by most passengers, making it a great place to get a light snack or meal without any crowds. It was one of our favorite places on the ship to just relax and get away.

We sailed on the Serenade of the Seas last year. We loved the Schooner Bar and was themed very much like the Brilliance of the Seas.

Sailed on Brilliance last Christmas and enjoyed it sooo much. Lots of areas to relax with out being to crowded. Especially liked the solarium pool which had steps into it (great for someone like me who has issues with ladder) and was deep enough to actually swim in (unlike Ovation of the seas solarium pools)

I agree with you on the newer looking cabins , I prefer the darker wood . Gives it more of classic look . These older ships are cheaper and more in our budget too . 😊

The vibe is the tea!!! This is why I have loved your content for the past ten years. The Brilliance was my first ever cruise in 2010 for 14 days. Time flies! I loved the theater, and the solarium was never crowded. The dining room was so elegant.

We will be on Brillance May 30/25 . To the Greek islands. It will be a multi Gen trip and recently I felt slightly condemned on another forum for choosing this ship with a 5 and 2 1/2 year old. We chose the itenary and the dates we were all available, and this was it. This video makes me feel better about it

I agree! I love the Schooner Bar on the Radiance Class ships! Brilliance almost looks like a mini museum. It's cool. Some of the newer ships have the Schooner Bar tucked somewhere or it's small and cramped like on the Mariner/Voyager Class. Great video!

We were just on Jewel and the two are very similar, though there’s not pub on the Jewel, it’s a sports bar which is kinda meh. We were on Radiance last years, which is more like Brilliance. Do the slide. My husband did it with our child and solo. Quite a few adults do it solo, just to have done it.

Hi Morgan and all.... Our first ship was Serrenade, it's sister. Although a little dated was a fantastic ship. No other Scooner bar comes close to a Radiance class one. This class is definitely a gem in the rccl fleet.

I spent a month on the Brilliance in February circumnavigating Australia and New Zealand. The Brilliance is a Radiance class ship. I have been on all the Radiance class ships (Radiance, Brilliance, Jewell, and Seranade) and they are all indistinguishable from each other as far as layout and decor are concerned.

I have enjoyed the Oasis class for all that it offers. Also I enjoy the smaller ships because for me it feels comfortable. Based on our yearly travel budget the smaller ships work better for us too. Ive never set a goal to sail on all of a cruise lines ships. I could go on the same ship every time and be fine with that. I cruise for the view of the ocean and sunrise/sunsets. Sure the food and entertainment are always good and I like the live music in the pubs. It gives me a week to get away.

With Virgin and Viking they both truely have the same design/ layout with minimal differences in there respective fleets. I don't mind it but do enjoy something new on ships.

I've never sailed Brilliance, but I have been on the other 3 Radiance class ships (Radiance of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas and Serenade of the Seas). Naturally, they share many of the same designs and theming. Based on your video, Brilliance may do it slightly better, but all of them are great ships. BTW: All of the Radiance ships have a dedicated cinema. They are the only Royal Caribbean ships that do.

The independence of the seas has a free eatery on the pool deck, called fish and ships. For what I understand is the only cruise ship that Royal Caribbean has it has that particular eatery. Complementary fish and chips can’t beat it.

Given that the Independence and the Freedom are sister ships of the same class and similar age it’s to be expected that the windjammers are the same. However I will agree the Radiance class ships are the prettiest they offer.

Radiance class and Vision class definitely have their good points. But Morgan IIRC your first cruise was Monarch of the Seas, so not such a dramatic departure from the Sovereign class to the Radiance class. So it's not like you haven't been on a classic RCI ship.

Sovereign(Monarch) Class, First "Mega" and Largest Cruise Ship in the World at the time, also my first Cruise in 1988. The Radiance Class was Designed using best of Voyager and Vision Classes. Will enjoy the Radiance Class long as they are still around. Royal Cruises been Averaging 120% passenger Capacity each sailing, Radiance Class on 10+ niters typically 80-85% with few family's, 10-25 Kids and lot of us SOLO passengers

These "cookie-cutter" megaships is why I am not rushing to take a cruise anytime soon. Also, it's like going to a chain restaurant, you know what to expect and almost all of them look the same (I'm looking at YOU Capital Grille). Oh, and my one and only cruise trip was on Majesty of the Seas, way back in 2005. I did enjoy the food and the ship, but as it was a 5-day cruise, there were no sea days to enjoy the ship.

I hate the new mega-ships and would never cruise on any of them. I regularly cruise on ships built in the 90´s, 1,200 passengers max and I LOVE it. No need for an amusement park at sea with a small town around me at all times ...

I sailed on the Brilliance last year for a 2 week Panama full transit, to say the least I would never ever sail on it again. Almost zero dining options, way too old, our toilet in our room had constant problems. The only positive is they're the fasted ships in the fleet. The crew was horrible as well, an overall poor experience.

I think you're mixing up ship classes.. what i mean is ships of the same class, generally look the same and have the same features as they are built around the same time and then probably refurbished around the same time too (due to age) so its whatever RCCLs current branding at the time is. But you can't tell me going from something like Brilliance or Independance to Wonder is the same. They clearly keep adding new venues, activities, experiences, etc as their brand progresses, expands and changes offerings. I mean this is going to be natural when you have a fleet of ships that span decades in life. Themes/styles change and progress and those newer ships adopt those new styles. It just sounds like you prefer the older style (which is fair) but i personally think that pool is 'over the top' and gaudy. 🤷♂ To each their own, but i will admit i do like the older schooner bar style/theming (it also feels like it's lot larger on the older ships) so I guess there are some things about those older ships i do like, but also dislike.
@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides3 ай бұрын
Ya, I guess what I meant was all the Oasis class kind of look exactly the same. All the Quantum look exactly the same. Etc. Of course I don't think Brilliance looks like the Icon ;-)
@TheRealTomGreen3 ай бұрын
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides lol 😂 yah icon is one of those RCCL is shifting the style guide again ships. There's generations of style with RCCL and we're in the middle of another shift it seems. I personally don't love the whole new window balcony rooms and would rather just have a balcony. But I guess my point is, at least their fleet is vast enough over decades that there's almost certainly a ship for everyone.

They need to bring back theming. Tired of new ships and hotels just being “clean and modern” and gray. I miss the theming of Las Vegas Hotels from the 90’s and NCL cruise ships in the late 2000’s/early 2010’s.

Brilliance was my second RC ship, I believe i now prefer these older and smaller ships. You're reminding me of the little things I hated. The small movie theater was a tease that i never got to enjoy and the roped off and unoccupied kids park was wasted space that pissed me off everytime I walked laps on the top deck. If they didn't have that co-ed thermal suite i would've rated this ship a thumbs down, the buffet food was terribly inconsistent, it actually got better as the cruise went on. The bigger ships are going to have their shit more together as far as production shows and proactive cruise director.
