I'm going on the Mariner in three weeks, and seriously considering this excursion! The only reason I'm hesitant is because it's listed as taking 9 hours. Did yours really take all day? Can you spend time at the beach during the excursion or is Playa del Carmen too far away to walk to the beach during the excursion?

We were done by noon. We had about 2 hrs to walk around Playa de Carmen beach.

This looks so cool! We're going in May on Independence of the Seas and this excursion looks the best to us so far. Thanks for your video. Did it really take 9 hours? Did you have time to stop to shop and eat before getting back on the boat?

We had about 2 hrs to walk around and shop. Plenty of food places around the boat dock.

We are doing this in a few weeks! I have some questions! Did you take a phone, wallet and money? Where did you leave your stuff?? Is it a safe place?? Did you need local currency or did places take US dollars

We left all our belongings in the shuttle van. It's was safe, no issues at all. This place was amazing!!! They take your safety very seriously. We paid cash for pictures in the caves.

You can record, but it must be hands free. I had a gopro attachment.

Do you have to swim into any inclosed caves underwater in order to make it through the cave?

No... last part of the tour is a swimming area.

Did they make the women wash the makeup off their face before going in the caves? Also, I've seen other videos showing people wearing wetsuits. Why weren't any of you wearing them? Were they offered?

Yes, you have to remove any makeup before entering the caves. You can pay extra for wetsuit.
