Shuckburgh: That's style with a capitol S! You Sir, are simply smashing! Thank you from an Anglophile in the San Francisco Bay area of California. You bring joy to my heart during the trying times we live in. LOVE your furry friends & groovy hats. Have always loved the Queen. She rocks. Much love from Kathleen

Excellent, as always, Mr Shuckburgh. Given Queen Mary's predilection for, shall we say, 'collecting' attractive items from all her hosts, it's a wonder Badminton House wasn't left empty after the Dowager Queen's four year stay!

Beautifully done. I am disgusted that New Zealand, where I have lived for the last 50 years after moving from Sussex, is doing almost nothing to celebrate the Jubilee. Elizabeth is Queen of New Zealand just as much as she is of England, but the only commemoration I am aware of here is a 21-gun salute to be fired in our capital, Wellington. I think it's only a matter of a fairly short time before the country ceases to acknowledge the monarchy at all, which will be sad.

Great and beautiful log. There.is little historical lapse. Harold was not Edward the Confessors son. He was his brother in law.. Edward married Edith of Wessex, Harold's sister. Edith and Edward had no children. Hastings was the culmination of the arguement over who was the legitimate heir, William or Harold.

I look forward to these episodes as if waiting on the next exciting episodes of other favorite shows on various networks. KZbin is the best network tv in the world! Although, we Americans do not have an aversion to the Queen, we really prefer Churchill and Thatcher, but hey, you can’t elect Royalty anymore than you can your own family members, right?! Americans do tend to cherish Royalty in general however! Although primarily and overwhelmingly solely due to Americans, even in these present, scientific, modern times, insist on realistically believing, worshipping, living for and expressing their immeasurable love for Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ (Messiah), Son of the Living God, Jehovah, Yahweh, Creator, Christ Jesus. How can these people reign the world?! Surely, they don’t understand something we don’t! There is no possible way Americans are more in-tuned than the remainder of the world, especially Europe! America is not needed to save anyone or anything! You know, except for that one time in the Great War to end all wars, you know, World War I! Oh, and that other time in World War II when Germany had pretty much taken control of Europe and the Japanese, Asia. Oh, then of course all of the proxy wars against communism, like Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Island of Grenada, Middle East, Far East, Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, Terror, Anti-American / Liberty / Freedom seeking to diminish the USA! Who do these Christian Americans think they are?! Spokesmen for Christianity?!! Besides, they’re bullies! When terrorists attempt to attack or kill them, they overwhelmingly annihilate all of us and our families! I know, right?! All we had done was chant, “death to American’s!” for around twenty years, while only funding terrorist attacks against them and their friends! Can you believe their audacity?!

I am quite late to the party here. I have been to Sudeley and Tetbury, but unfortunately a week too early to see the gardens at Highgrove, much to our dismay. There is definitely something unique about the Cotswolds, for sure!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the Jubilee; it made me so proud of my British roots. ❤️🇬🇧🇺🇸

Hi Ruth Wasn't it a terrific weekend? We all seem to have had fun together and it was certainly what was needed after these rotten couple of years. Take care and thanks for watching. All the best Robin

Harold was NOT Edward the Confessor's son, who famously left the throne with no heir. The Godwins were a powerful family that can arguably described as Edward's puppeteers, using Edward to gain power. Harold Godwinson assumed the throne on what he claimed was Edward's wishes.
@DefinitelyAPotato2 жыл бұрын
It's even in his name! Harold, son of Godwin. Harold Godwinson.
@robinshuckburgh55612 жыл бұрын
Hands up. Can't think why but I read it wrong. Of couse he was Edward's "chosen" successor. Sadly I can't correct it now but thanks anyway for pointing it out. Keep watching! Robin

is Surrey in the Cotswolds?
@TheCotswoldExplorer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lindy. No it isn't actually but it is a lovely county. We do stray out of the area sometimes, and we certainly did in this episode, but not into Surrey yet! All the best and keep watching. Robin
@robinshuckburgh55612 жыл бұрын
No getting away from it people. I made a fundamental mistake. Harold was Edward the Confessor's chosen successor and not his son. Weirdly the written script says so and I seem to have just improvised!! hey Ho. Nothing now to be done about it I am afraid. Now everyone in the world will get the wrong idea of the whole royal line.......p'raps not.
