I have an important question, I've been using water based pomade for quite a bit but it feels like it's not working for me. I don't know if it's the product, my hair, or the way I applied/style. For me I could style it and all but when it drys it tends to look messy and have big cracks and it just looks blahhh. Side note: I have loose curly hair. So what I'm trying to get to here is, do you think I should move to a oil/wax/petroleum product? Would the build up of product help the hair form and not split? Or would I have to change the way I apply the product. If you do say use an oil based, what would you recommend? I'm looking for something that is light but holds well, High shine, and is easy to apply (not ripping my scalp off). Thank you so much for your time.
@camerona1459 жыл бұрын
I think an oil based pomade would help a lot because they do not dry, so you can restyle if needed. Some lights that I would recommend are Royal Crown Pomade, Slick Dick by Dick Tremolo's, O'douds light, Granddad's light, Orange Blossom Special by Mr.March, Black and White, and Lockhart's light just to name a few.
@kurtkobain219 жыл бұрын
hey man, i dont know what pomade you are using, but most of them dont really work, ive been on suavecito strong hold, shiner gold and super shiner gold and always get similar results like yours... nowadays i use Dr Rubin's pomade... it's just peeeeerfect, it has a big ass hold, and its beeswax base, so it doesnt make a big trouble to take off like the oil pomades, the only thing its that it hasnt a lot of shine because its made of wax, but if you want to keep using water based pomades, i recommend you the layrite super hold... its the heaviest hold of the water based pomades... you should take an eye on that PD: i dunno but if youre from mexico, more specifically monterrey (my hometown) theres a store that sells all kind of rockabilly vintage products, they have a huge pomade variety... from water to oiled based pomades

It doesn't work for me i have complicated hair to stylize a pomp. The hold is not that firm. But the shining its pretty cool. I had to mix it in with a little Murray's in order to have a cool style and works out just fine. My respect for your review on royal crown.
@Milkthatsock7 жыл бұрын
hey quick question, i have the "exact" same hair type as you but your hair seems alot straighter than normal in this vid. is that all from build up (if so was it just from royal crown if you rememebr) or did you have it blown out or relaxed at the time? i just want my hair to be straighter but without any work like straightener or blow dry/ whatever, thanks!

@camerona1459 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely, oil based pomades don't harden up, give great shine, and don't wash out. Pick some up :)

Is it really hard to wash out oil based pomade? That is the only part that makes me skeptical about oil based. And the whole acne thing haha
@camerona1459 жыл бұрын
Not hard to wash out an oil based pomade, but it is a learning curve. If you normally wash your hair they will be out in 3-5 days, if you de-grease, you can get them out on the spot. The stuff that is left in is called build up and it offers greater hold on following days with less pomade that needs to be added. I have never had a problem with Acne and pomade so that just depends on your own skin

"Roll crown pomade"! Lol te he😂!
@SalandFindles8 жыл бұрын
I must say that I hate this pomade. I was so excited to get this one while waiting for it to be delivered when I bought it off Amazon, but I'm let down, bigtime. It has like, no hold at all. I can lean my head to the side and my hair falls out of place (not that I can actually style it to get in place anyways with this pomade). That's a big no-no for pomades for me. So thanks, Royal Crown, for making an overall shitty product. See, while I LOVE how strong the original Murray's pomade is, I, at the same time, hate how thick it is and how long it takes to wash out. I've been using "Sportin' Waves" gel-based pomade and just wanted to try something different. I guess I'll just keep going back to using the far superior one I've been using. Heh. So disappointed.
@xHibachi24x8 жыл бұрын
Have ya tried mediums or firms? It sounds like lights and heavies aren't the most optimal for your hair.
@SalandFindles8 жыл бұрын
xHibachi24x I experimented the other day. I used 2 big scoops of this pomade that I already had: bellezaplus.com/2210/softsheen-carson-sportin-waves.jpg Combed it through, then used 1 big scoop of the Royal Crown pomade and my hair was looking, as Cameron says, "really freakin' good." But, I guess I'm still in the testing phase for finding a single pomade that holds pretty well, but washes out decently.
@ethanjohnson92308 жыл бұрын
You need a lot of build up
@SalandFindles8 жыл бұрын
Ethan Johnson Yeah, I've since learned that. I also learned that it's good to use like, 1 scoop of heavy pomade and about 2 scoops of Royal Crown or another light pomade at the same time. I've also since bought Murray's Super Light pomade and it's pretty good. I have the normal Murray's build up in my hair also, so I guess that's helping me like the super light version a bit more.
