There are few more satisfying tasks when maintaining a modern classic motorcycle than polishing the engine cases. In most instances with our 650 Twins, the cases will look better than new. However, it's a huge task for today's owners. So in this video, I will be guiding how one can buff the engine cases manually and with a help of a tool where one could achieve a mirror finish on the cases with less effort overall.

I've read that metal polishes like this remove the factory coating, but make the casings more susceptible to dullness etc.

No, I don’t think so. I had buffed the casing initially itself and left it without buffing for like 6-8 months there was no issues. The factory does nothing much and one can achieve better results on own

@@officialthelksharma The left casing on my Gt650 always gets this droplet like gunk evrytime, no matter how often I buff the casing but not on the right side casing. I use autosol and it hold its shine...

Hey great video ! I had some queries though as i am new to this i dont have a drill but the one u suggested was quite expensive so should i buy a dedicated buffing machine or should i get a bosch cordless under 5 k and can we use this method on tank with wax and all will it damage the paint . Please reply asap

Dedicated buffing machine is good to go. You can use for polishing tank and engine cases.

How often do I need to buff to keep oxidation at bay and keep the casings clean? I also don't want to give the bike too many washes.

Whenever required. You could do it every 3 months. Post that uses a silicone-based spray like Silkolene ProPrep or Putoline Silicone Spray that will prolong the buffing and protect.

Compared to the Autosol & Mothers, in this first attempt, I found Autosol to be better tbh. Will try 1-2 times more and get back with a more concrete answer. For now Autosol.
