Royal Enfield BS4 EFI Fuel Pump Safety Issue & How to Care It

A similar incident happened with me yesterday (same model Desert Storm BS4). I was driving and fuel started spraying everywhere, as soon as i got of my bike and touched the pipe it broke off and started spraying petrol on battery. Thanks for uploading, at least now i know that I'm not the only one suffering this issue. Terrible build quality by Royal Enfield !

No need to change the entire fuel pump. You can just change the base unit which has the pipe. Part number of the base unit is 1017096/A -BASE UNIT, FFP MODULE. MRP of this part is RS.2000. Order it from any Royal enfield store or any authorised royal enfield dealer. It is easy to get this part unless service center people intentionally delays it. Please note, many of the Service center people or mechanics don't tell about this part because either they don't know or they don't want their customers know. For the pipe broken issue if you change the entire fuel pump it will cost you Rs.7000 but if you only change base unit it will cost you only Rs.2000+labour. Choice is yours !!! Guys, Same thing happed with me too, but i think most common reason for this is "Petrol Thief". When some thief just tries to open the fuel pump for a greed of petrol without knowing the fact that this is efi not carborator this shit happens and same thing will keep happening always because thiefs are everywhere. I found one solution for this just go to some steel welding shop and request him to make some customized steel net for you which you can fit that left side area of your bike near the fuel pump which net will ultimately stops the thief's hand away from fuel pump. Or else you can convert your bike from EFI to Carborator.

Sorry Vinish, Don't know where it will find in Kerala but It also out of stock in places. Company replacing this fuel pump and soon new modified pump will come, this info I got from one of RE Trainer. So just wait little.

They are having a hard time with keeping Fuel pumps in stock. I got it replaced under warranty. It took them 2 weeks to get the pump back in stock(on special order) here in Chandigarh.

I am facing of fuel pump(bs3) gone bad/sounding excessively got fuel pump filter cleaned with air pressure since then after 250-300 kms my injector getting flooding, jam and no acceleration(jerks). What service saying have to replace fuel pump. Experts guide can filter in pump can be changed or whole pump and injector has to be changed.

Just change filter first and check wether problem is solve or not if solve then you are good to go if not then you need to change whole fuel pump.

Same problem also happened to me in my bullet ES 500 2017 model (BS IV) and i found solution that you should go to a local mechanic and use the gas cylinder's pipe because it is very sturdy. You will never fall in problem again.

@@omjha7877 just take the piece of gas cylinder pipe made up of rubber or plastic from outside but iron or steel coated from inside and tell the mechanic to fit. You won't find any issue after that as i am using it for 3 years right now.

Faced the same problem 3 times. They are charging 2 Lac+ for this bike and providing a shitty plastic part which is the most important part of this vehicle. Royal Enfield should consider this as a manufacturing defect and ensure to replace/find a solution to this problem for their customers. Also, note that this particular type of fuel pump is only for Royal Enfield 500 CC motorbikes. All other bikes have the same normal metal fuel pump/carburetor. This is the last time I am changing the fuel pump, the next time this happens, I am dragging RE to the court.

One small question by bike(tb500) run 27000 now fuel pump bs3 problem after air filter in fuel cleaned with air pressure. Is it normal to go bad after so many kms, cleaning by air pressure.

For bs3 its mostly filter that need to clean but I advice you get filter clean only by professional mechanic.

At the junction of the tap which projects from the main body of the fuel pump should be reinforced...i thought it's because of petrol thief...later I learnt that it's the quality of plastic used in manufacturing of pump...the fuel line which is connected to the tap of the pump is so rigid that the even vibrations from the engine actually causing the crack at the tap...causing detachment..its a dangerous area since the heat from the engine and spark from the battery may cause major fire accident also...

NO, BS3 has different Fuel Pump which cost Rs. 14000 and it has metal casing. BS4 model fuel pump are only suitable for BS4 models not for BS3 vise versa.

Same thing has happened to my 2018 Classic 500 this morning. Switch her on petrol spayed all over the engine and my left leg. Plastic pipe on fuel pump showing stress fractures. It seem Royal Enfield fuel hose between the pump and injector body has the be an exact size, to long or short and it put stress on the fuel pump hose joint causing it to stress and brake. Bad design and a very very dangerous result. There should be a recall on these bikes with these pumps for a change or upgrade in the pump or more flexible hose between pump and injection body.

I live in Australia l purchased a military 500 classic this bike l love but the silly design of fuel pump is letting the bike down it’s a plastic fuel pump and the end breaks of, l can not believe royal enfield has gone backwards because of a plastic part look at the trouble it is causing. And yes brothers it happened to me not cheap it’s a $700 dollar part in Australia plus fitting and l was in a place were there was no one for miles imagine breaking down we’re there is nobody to help it could cost a life fix the problem royal enfield before people could die

I broke my second pumps nozzle today, I won't buy a new one , what I'll do is I'll reinforce the pumps nozzle with a copper or steel nozzle and plastic weld it, I'm not a retard to spend 8k again on this stupid fuel pump.

I tried reinforcing with araldiet today and left it for 3 days......its my 3rd nozzle...cracking...its a nice idea to insert a metal nozzle in to the body of the pump and cold weld....pl share your pics
