I bought one of these Bullet Trials last July. Absolutely love it. I have owned many brands...Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawi, Triumph and many sizes...1, 2, 4 cylinder from 90cc up to 900. Every other bike I owned were all actually kind of boring compared to my RE. It ain't fast or particularly smooth, but it looks, runs, shifts, and rides like a real motorcycle. All iron, no plastic, simple, easy to work on. A real motorcycle the way they were intended originally. These bikes scream personality! And comfortable??? OMG easily THE most comfortable sitting/riding position of any motorcycle I have ever owned. The seat is amazing. Just about every other bike I have owned needed aftermarket parts to get to a decent rideable comfort level. These RE's are amazing right out of the box. That was the first thing I noticed the very first time I rode one. I have not seen any quality issues at all that everyone bitches about on these forums either. I know there are way better riding, running motorcycles out there but I am long past the crotch rocket stage and lying on a gas tank to ride with your head at a 90 degree angle to your back looks horrid for comfort, and I refuse to ride a big, heavy chrome plated bulldozer around town, so the Royal Enfield suits me perfect. It is low, slow, comfortable, not real big, not real heavy, and is a blast for this short old man to ride. Might even try a little off rode with it soon. GREAT,GREAT job Royal Enfield. Sorry I didn't find you sooner and also sorry to see after 70 something years you are moving on from the Bullet model but we all know change is inevitable...like it or not.

Absolutely right about "...low, slow, comfortable, not real big, not real heavy, and is a blast..." I can only think that people who criticise the bullet don't like the look or idea of it, so have never tried one. It performs like the pre-war bikes which I used to enjoy and tinker with as a teenager, so it is partly nostalgia, but pragmatically it is also now just right for chugging delightfully around locally and doesn't need to be taken to the dealer for servicing. It is perfect in the ubiquitous 60, 50, 40, 30, and even 20 mph speed restrictions. 50 - 60 is also quite enough for A roads at the legal limit, and even for cruising in supreme comfort on motorways. Really we were lucky to still have it in UK, but that was only because it used to be so popular in India. Like the RE 650 twins, it is itself and has tangible character, rather than being just a soulless imitation or a pointless rocket. I guess there will eventually be 500cc versions of the Meteor, though it seems that some of the magic might be missing there too.

I was working on a 1957 one of these last week at our museum. Same colour! Green frame with chrome tank. What a great looker!

I am interested, but yes, for the out the door cost I could by a nice air cooled bonneville or scrambler. or turn a 650 interceptor into a scrambler for a little more money.

I agree. Which is a shame because I'm a big fan of classic trials bikes. When I saw this I thought, great, an old trials bike with modern reliability. But when you look closer its not so impressive. The dashboard should've been stripped down (not kept the smooth road-bike dash), it needed more ground clearance, even if it was just a bit more. It should've had the high exhaust option like the reviewer said. Not the low one with the brake lever going underneath. It just looks silly and ready to be snapped off on a trials bike. Even if it never goes off road, it doesn't look right. What you have here is a heavy Bullet, that can carry one less person.
