Royal Enfield Classic 350 Lakes Tour Episode 3 - Ambleside for the night.

Sooner than expected, due to the Hostel being closed, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 continues its lakes tour on a dash to Ambleside Youth Hostel before they stop serving food. I’ve been on the bike all day and I’m starving.
First, we must get back down the Himalayan track to Ullswater, then over Kirkstone Pass.
Reaching an altitude of 1,489 feet, it’s the highest pass in the Lake District that vehicles can use. The gradient in places is 1 in 4 or 25% and has spectacular vies down the Patterdale Valley.
Sit back and let’s continue the ride.

Wow !!! What are the chances of ever having so little traffic on that road !!! It is rides like that that make biking worthwhile imho. The 350cc engine is absolutely ideal for those roads.

Just enjoyed Kirkstone Pass on your Classic 350. I am currently in the Lake District with my wife. What would I give to have the 350 parked outside rather than the Nissan Note! 😢

Nice trip video, is there any chance of getting some more feedback on the bike and how it copes over the passes, do you carry much luggage.i ask as I'm seriously considering getting one as a second bike. Thanks

Hi Steve, The bike never missed a beat on the whole 3 day trip. It went up all the passes with no problems. There is a video in a couple of weeks with it taking on the Wrynose and Hardknott. Even the 1 in 3 gradients of the hardknott had no effect it just went up, mostly in second gear, and that’s with 15 stone on it. I did the lakes trip back in May on the BMW R1150RT and it was no better than the Enfield. Luggage wises it too enough for 3 days, I use the bike for work as well and can get a laptop bag in each pannier. I’m sure I can get enough kit for camping in there. Another fantastic episode! I only wish that I was riding along with you for this wonderful journey. It’s been 43 years since I’ve been to Europe and it doesn’t look like my odds of making it back there is very good. But I can certainly enjoy watching your videos to help ease the pain. 😁

As himalayan owner i do go off road ...but im very impressed with my classic 350 will nearly do same just carefull for ground clearance...🥴😉... such a swiss army knife enfields ....ps a regular haunt glennridding live fairly near... atb cheers dave

Hi, thanks for the comment, I agree, I haven't found anything the Enfield won't do. I have another 350 made for the Indian market and imported. It's registered I'm the up from 1998 and has a sidecar fitted. I've been around the Langdale Honister and Kirkstone pass with no problems. I need to bring it back up for another run Ride safe, Dave

@@thatblokeonamotorbike they really are an amazing bike that belies its 350cc engine. Unless you want to break the 70 mph national speed limit I honestly think there is not a better bike. 🙂

I like mine that much I'm considering selling the Honda ST1100 and even the BMW R1150RT, Its only cos I never like parting with a bike I still have them
