I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos Ian, and I always laugh when you say "bloody hell'. It always reminds me of 'me mum' and my relatives in the UK. You really have a surreal way of transforming your rides on Clementine into an enjoyable and relaxing ride, beautiful scenery, quaint cottages, and a little banter to keep your viewers completely consumed in your videos! Fantastic job as always! Good luck on your appointment, and cheers until the next video.. -Steve- from Texas.

I've watched two videos in two days, this one and The Bingley Wheeler's Himalayan ride where idiots in cars just bully their way through regardless 👿. 'Just keep coming!' is a phrase (amongst others 🤬) I use regularly up here, thankfully I'm not often parked in a puddle at the time 😄. Clementine sounds good as usual. Cheers, Mick

My money is still on RE doing a 500 cc J platform variant, as the existing engine is so over engineered for a 350. It would make sense to do that as it would be over 90% parts commonality. I also agree they should do a trail version like the previous Bullet variant.

Morning James, me too. I am kind of working my way round it, by thinking and pausing before saying words starting with certain letters. Really odd how it only happens in conversations though. It’s not a nervousness thing, as it happens in conversation with Ann, and other family and friends. A bit odd ! Cheers

Pleasant ride out for us Ian we know all about bracing winds in Cornwall, all the best with the tests I've suffered with a stammer most of my life sometimes it goes completely and other times it's an embarrassing speech impediment where I struggle to get my words out. All the best Ian looking forward to your next video which I will watch directly after this one 👍🇬🇧
@ianhughesroyalenfield Жыл бұрын
Thanks Davey, yes you do get bracing winds down there. Re the speech impediment, it is just strange how it appeared from nowhere. Will be interesting to see what, if anything, could have been the cause. I am physically fine, and trying to work around it. For about 4 days there wasn’t a sign, then the next day it was there again 🙄😂 Hey ho. Glad you are still enjoying our rides. I will continue right through winter, but they may not be quite as frequent 🌧️☔️

Nice video Ian👍 What you said about the dark edge when using the ND filter, I think that’s what you said. I’ve no experience of action cameras but have been into photography for about 50 years and have a diploma in professional photography although I’m not a professional photographer by any means that was just an interest thing. Anyway sometimes when you attach a filter to the lens especially when the lens is wide the edge of the filter can be seen (not usually by the naked eye) giving a dark edge on the image. Not saying that’s what it is but it can happen.
@ianhughesroyalenfield Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I have since done some more investigating, seems it may be flare, and possibly a CPL filter, replacing the original lens cover might help. It’s strange how it is predominantly just on one side (left). Have ordered a CPL, so will try that. Thanks again.

Hi Ian, good video as usual.👍 Having sat on the Bullet on Sunday it doesn't feel any different to my Classic even though the seat is a one piece affair as opposed to the Classic's two. The comfort level and riding position feels exactly the same. I agree with you, a 350 Trials version would have made more sense. All RE will do by reintroducing the Bullet brand is spread their customer base thinner rather than attract a new market because the two variants are very similar. Right, onto a 500 air cooled single, I understand that this will never happen and it's all down to emissions. With this larger cubic capacity and being air cooled, its impossible to meet current, yet alone future emissions levels however, I have it on good authority that we are going to get a 650 Twin Classic next year which will utilise the Interceptor etc. Mechanicals, sounds interesting🤔. Watch this space as they say.👍

I hope the appointment goes well, Ian. The Brit gov't told me that there was no such thing as adult onset speech impediment, when I tried to claim on the MoD. Winter riding in the UK is not fun, as I remember from back in the '60's when bikes were my sole transport there. In contrast, we had 36C here in West Oz today and 37C promised for tomorrow... 🌞
@ianhughesroyalenfield Жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris. Hopefully there isn’t anything wrong with me, though I am consciously thinking more about some words before trying to say them 🙄. I have just carried out Clementine’s winter protection regime of mine, and I actually recorded it, just to bore people to death 😂. It was much better back in the day when we didn’t bother, just get on and ride, whatever the weather, then leave outside overnight to go rusty 🤭
@chrisweeks6973 Жыл бұрын
Hope all goes smoothly, Ian. 👍Back in the day (60's) there was no undercover protection for the bike at either end of my 75-mile-each-way commute, so the new 250 Jawa I bought in '63 lived outside 24/7 all year round. That bike was100% reliable. Wish I still had it and the '70 350 version that I obtained and refurbished in '84; kept that for 15 years. Only sold it 'coz we moved 2,000 km north and She Who Must Be Obeyed wanted it gone. Paradoxically, she was gone six years later... Proves there is a God! 😂

Hi Ian, regarding the shading is something not reflecting from sunlight across the camera lens causing some lens flare, reflecting off the helmet or something else, maybe a lens hood is needed, anyway enjoyed your ride out, Adrian.
@ianhughesroyalenfield Жыл бұрын
Morning Adrian, on further investigation, (KZbin) it does seem that it is flare. One chap has used a polarising filter (CPL), I have one coming today to try. I did consider whether a hood of sorts would work, but to get the view we have, the camera needs to go on wide (ultra wide would be too distorted), so any hood would interfere with the view. That said, just done a quick Google search, and they seem inexpensive, so might be worth a try. I will see if the CPL works first. Thank you.

I don't like Autumn per se Ian but the colours are fantastic I don't know if you have contacted MotoUK R.E filters but he uses them and I am sure would reply to you . Maybe Royal Enfield will bring out a 650 bullet to match the BSA how good would that be , spot on Ian cheers 👌👍

Afternoon Mal. The next video has some good Autumn colours. Obviously Spring and Summer are our favourites, but we have to make the best of what we are given. I am hoping we get some snow this year, would make a pretty good video I reckon ⛄️. MotoUK is one of the big KZbinrs I have contacted, but he hasn’t responded as yet. He is another who is based very close to us. As for the 650, we are expecting the “Classic” 650 anytime, so I am guessing it would be as easy to make a Bullet from it, as with the 350’s, but whether they decide to do that is another story. I still haven’t given up hope on a large single yet. Cheers

Update : I have had replies from MotoUK and Wheelie Good TV, with the latter giving me, what will hopefully be, a solution to the issue.

I think the quality of your video is fantastic. I was respectfully wondering if you might know of any ways that an innertube is better than a toothless for a motorcycle? Classic 350 is lovely looking. I developed a stutter also, and it only happens when i'm having the same Financial argument again with my girlfriend. I hope you are well. Thank you and happy trails.
@ianhughesroyalenfield Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment. Tubeless is easier to fix at the roadside than tubed, but a roadside recovery is even easier. That said, though not wanting to tempt fate, the last puncture I had in a tubed tyre was in 1981 on a Matchless 500 G9 😉. I am guessing your stutter might be out of fear, I know if I was having the same with my wife, it would be 😳😂. Cheers

Hello Ian, always happy to try and help. I have not really noticed the bit on the left of the screen before but now you have mentioned it, it clear to see. Is there a bit of dust on the edge of the lens? I have just had a look at some of my raw footage on the DJI 1 and the DJI 3 and do not seem to have the same issue on either. If you set the view to Ultra Wide, does it stay in the shot all the time? Very strange indeed.
@ianhughesroyalenfield Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex. I think if it was dust or something, it would be there all the time, but it’s only there when the sun is at a certain angle, or reflecting off either the chrome or mirror. I have ordered a CPL, to see if it helps. I haven’t tried different settings, as I use wide which suits. Holding in the hand, or on a grip, there is no sign of the clouding, as seen in the Bullet unwrapping video. As you say, strange ! Cheers
@blearyview2254 Жыл бұрын
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Depending on the stabilisation settings and whether it wide or ultra wide, the camera does not always record the entire lens. I noticed it comes into view when you look left. Worth unscrewing the lens and giving it a clean.

@blearyview2254 yes, I picked up on that too. I will give it a clean, and try it tomorrow as we are expecting some sunny intervals. Oh, and it’s on Rock Steady. Thank you.

Going from this video, I don't think an ND filter is what you're after. It looks like flare in the corners, which all lenses suffer from to some extent. Action cameras with very wide angles are more prone to than most, because you're more likely to have the sun somewhere in the picture. An ND (neutral density) filter cuts light down in "stops" (x1 x2 x4, etc) which affects the image as a whole, not just the corners. Generally speaking, putting another layer of glass on a lens multiplies the chance of flare. I'm happy to stand corrected as I'm unfamiliar with your particular camera, and its automatic corrections.
@ianhughesroyalenfield Жыл бұрын
You sound more clued up than me. I think some of it is glare off the chrome and mirrors too. I just don’t notice it in other vloggers vids who I know are using the DJI Osmo’s. Thank you 😊
@ianhughesroyalenfield Жыл бұрын
Just to let you know, I had a look on KZbin regarding flare on the Osmo 3, it seems a CPL is the way to go, so I have ordered one to try it. Most of the flare occurs on the left hand side, so hopefully it will be fairly straight forward to set 🤞😂, once again thank you.
@borderlands6606 Жыл бұрын
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Yes, it could be picking up reflections from the bike. To be honest I barely noticed it because, unlike poor image stabilisation which does jangle your eyeballs after a bit and your camera doesn't suffer from, flare is a fact of life especially in winter when the sun is low. I beg to differ on a Classic 500 (sincerely hope I'm wrong), and reckon an air-cooled 350 is all we're going to get. The old Himalayan may be the biggest engine we can expect without water-cooling, owing to emissions at higher speeds. Regarding a trials or trail 350, the issue is no one has remapped the J-series to unleash its true potential, which a proper off-roader would require. Emissions again.
@borderlands6606 Жыл бұрын
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Yes, a polarising filter might help.
@ianhughesroyalenfield Жыл бұрын
@borderlands6606 my old camera had bad image stabilisation, hence why I upgraded to the Osmo. I am really blown away the quality, but I want things to be perfect, well as near perfect as I can get 😂. Regarding my thoughts on a Trials version, I wouldn’t expect it to be of any use off road, just a styling exercise, like the discontinued 500 Trials. Cheers

Armchair psychiatry: The dynamic of being in conversation means that we are always conscious that we could be interrupted, which can cause us to try and get our thoughts out too quickly. I would be interested to know if I am on the right track..... An Indian gent with R.E. told me some time ago, that there will never be another 500 classic. R.E. like engine sizes ending in X50, so maybe there will be a 550 single one day and I suspect that it will be watercooled.
