Royal Enfield CLASSIC 350 vs METEOR 350 | Which is better?

Hello!
Many have often asked this question and pondered over it. The question being, which one to choose, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 or the Meteor 350.
CowKora, DirtDon, AutoRama and I rode the two motorcycles over 150 kms of varied terrain and then sat down to share our views. Hope this can help those who are undecided, decide.

Thanks guys. Lovely work. Another confused soul here between Classic 350 and Meteor 350. Looking for my first Royal Enfield bike to do long journeys mostly between Maharashtra to Karnataka. Something I can do comfortably. Major concern is my height. I'm six feet tall and occasionally would be riding with a pillion who's much smaller than me. Which bike would you suggest? I'm only going to use the bike for maximum of 3-4 months a year as I spend most of my time abroad.

Thanks. Happy that you like the videos. Since you are tall and with pillion and the pillion being small, the Meteor should be a more comfortable tourer for both. Also since you'll be on good highways the Meteor is a better option. With a windscreen you'll be more comfortable than on the Classic. And your pillion will appreciate the Meteor pillion seat and back rest much more than the one on the classic. Consider installing the touring seats or order yours under the Royal Enfield MIY plan and get the touring seats factory fitted. It is cheaper. And like I always say, take multiple long test rides of both with pillion and choose wisely. Cheers!

You guys are FANTASTIC..... This is the video, I was looking for. Thanks for your very precise explanations. I was more into knowing riding posture and feelings while riding these two RE bikes. I completely agree with the fact that riding classic is like we are on a machine and controlling it and the feeling is awesome. Newly launched meteor 350 had just confused me with it's popularity. I watched hundreds of Meteor and Classic review and comparison videos... I test drove both multiple times and still felt torn. My agony only ended when a Fireball Meteor in mint condition with 11000 km on the clock appeared for sale at a fantastic price.. Two weeks in and delighted with it... I'm in North Thailand, it is an ideal bike for this location 🎉 ....Loving it..! *Crap Game*

I am 5'10 and I don't feel comfortable in Metior because I find the position of gear shifter or the brakes effort giving. It is like you have to push your hips upward to reach them, not naturally.

Hi! I am not fond of the cruiser riding position either. The lever is adjustable and can be adjusted to an extent to cause less discomfort to your feet. Am sure the workshop can do something about it.

It’s a nice bike good value ,but my perfect meteor would have a 450 engine with spoked wheels ,the extra power would be better for the hills and freeways ,I think it would sell like hot cakes may be one day it will happen come on Royal Enfield make it happen up the anty

This was much needed in my decision on what to buy, I was looking at the classic, meteor, and Himalayan/ new 411 version if it ever gets here, and this crossed the meteor off the running for me although I do like a cruiser, just not as my only bike, the new 411 is really in the lead with the Himalayan right behind it .

You javelin to choose which posture you like. Ride both and select. Some are comfortable on the Classic while some are happy with the Meteor posture.

I test drove both today,you definitely feel more in control classic 350,i guess the closer the handle to our body the more confidence while riding,i have booked the cb350 , never thought of considering RE ,but to my surprise i really loved the comfort of classic and feeling in control, which the cb 350 lacked .

Plenty of choices. You'd need to shortlist say 3 mitorcycles and I can suggest the one you can consider.

Loved the video, Bosky! It was nice to hear all the different takes. I used to own a Thunderbird, and have a Meteor 350 right now. I just love the easy riding of the Meteor. I tend to ride mostly on highways, city and broken roads and the Meteor handles them perfectly. I just wish the stock windshield was a bit higher. I get too much wind noise when on the highway, and thinking of adding an extender, or completely removing the windshield.

Thanks! Congrats on the Meteor. Get an extension for the windscreen from Pro-Spec and try it and then use some cotton as ear plugs when you tour. These will help reduce the buffeting and the wind noise, ultimately reducing fatigue. Removing the windscreen may reduce the buffeting noise but it will put more load on your upper body which will be constantly pushing against the wind blast. And this can stealthily cause fatigue too. I have been watching a lot of videos on KZbin to make a decision about which bike to get and yours are the best, most detailed and most practical ones I’ve ever come across. Kudos for that. I have to choose between the new Classic 350 and the Interceptor. Having test ridden the Interceptor when it was launched, I have been lusting after it, slowly convincing my wife to let me get a bike. Now that she’s convinced, we went for a test ride and she’s insisting that she’s more comfortable riding pillion on the Classic and she likes the looks (Chrome Red) more. Surprisingly, I liked the new Classic ride much better than the old ones in terms of vibration. I also liked riding position comfort ( over the Interceptor) but I know the engine is phenomenally better on the Interceptor. We are both tall and have lower back issues so comfort is definitely a priority. My riding is mostly going to be city riding with occasional weekend rides outside the city ( Mumbai ) I would really appreciate your input on this matter. It would help me make up my mind. Thanks

Hi! The Interceptor can feel cramped for taller riders and for the pillion more so. The Classic seating comfort is better and the Meteor rider& pillion comfort is even better because of the plush seat and a nice pillion backrest. Try the Meteor to understand the cruiser style posture comfort. If you don't have an issue with the 350cc engine performance, then you most certainly can consider the Classic or the Meteor. You will enjoy the sedate and calm characteristic of the 350cc engines. And the Classic 350 Chrome Red color is a stunner. Cheers!

Hi! If you sometimes carry a pillion then the Meteor is better. Although I suggest that you ride both back to back and find out which posture is more comfortable for you. Cheers!
