Just got an ' 08. Iron barrel, Bullet 500. An Indian UTUBER gave it to my son because it would not start. He had a 9 heat range plug, replaced it w/ proper 6. Now it starts 1st kick. Haven't ridden my Harley since ! love it!

I also own a 2018 Classic 500. Great bike for "bimbling" around the lanes & minor roads in my beloved Yorkshire Dales (for those who are not familiar, a beautiful area of hills ("fells") & valleys ("dales") in North Yorkshire). As long a you're not in a big hurry, it's a good way to enjoy the ride. People *do* talk to you about the bike, a lot more so than when I'm out on my other bike, a Suzuki GS500F.

Iowa to Glacier National Park, that's a good run on a Classic 500. 👍 Gorgeous bike. I'm taking my new to me 500 Bullet out in a bit for a run up Mount Kneeland here in Humboldt County.

It's a 2016 or down model year. No rear disc brake gives it away. Valves are push rod hydraulic. It's the air filter box, not a tool box. That's the other side box that has tools and electronics inside.

Got one it’s my special toy, 2016 classic chrome. Short muffler, K and N air filter, and ditched the coil, lead , spark plug cap and spark plug for quality after market ones, made a big difference in cutting down the vibration will roll along at 70 mph now, happy between 50/60 mph.

I am running this model (2016) in the south of France. I have fitted the Givi rear panniers and baggage rack and just returned from a week camping and touring in Corsica. 90-100mpg and I do the servicing. Cheap, economical and characterful. What more do you need?

I don't have access to a bike for this test. However, go to MCC Just Motos KZbin channel. He has done a few of these test against a stock Himalayan. Here is a nifty video he did on his wonderful Himalayan. Wahoo! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZmWp2uDebOVopYsi=1MmC8_i3-Voni-zu

Are you sure the battery is right behind the throttle body? It seems like an an filter should be in that position. Stunning bike. I wish they still made it .
@forgottenmotorcycles2 жыл бұрын
I think the battery is on the left side and the air box is on the right side. Next time I'm at Baxter cycle I'll get a good look at it. They have these for sale periodically. Baxtercycle.com

I have a 2013 RE B5 Bullet 500. Mechanically the same as the Classic 500, but styled more like the older iron barrel Bullets. These bikes are pretty awful the way they come from the factory. They look great, but are ruined by the EFI and that awful 35 pound torpedo exhaust, which contains a catalytic converter. I converted mine to an Amal Concentric MK1 carburetor, using a kit from Hitchcocks, and replaced that horrible stock exhaust with a smaller, lighter, better looking and better sounding one, also from Hitchcocks. That made it run 10 times better, and actually feel and sound like a Royal Enfield 500 single single should. It cured the extremely lean mixture that was causing sputtering and hesitation, and allowed me to turn the idle down to get that iconic thump thump thump that Enfields are supposed to make. Sadly these conversions only work on Bullets and Classics through 2016, when everything was redesigned, and they got a rear disc brake and ABS. I currently have 21,000 miles on mine, and have loved every minute of it. 55 mph in 5th gear is the sweet spot for these, they are not highway bikes. I love the vibration. I also have a carbureted H-D Sportster 1200.

You are correct about these wonderful 500 RE's, amazing bikes and loads of fun. Am working on getting a ride on a 56 RE Bullet 500 now. Can't wait. Wahoo! PS Love Sportsters too!
