Unfair not to have brt out the following... 1) Weight advantage of KTM 2) Benefit of tubeless tyres, compared to current option on Himalayan 3) KTM being a proven engine and body whereas, Himalayan has to be watched over at least 1 yr from now. Now, apart from a comparison point...why don't u influencers impress upon RE to concurrently give out an option for alloy wheels on Him450?? At least that wd preclude a future expenditure of at least 30k for ppl who are not insistent upon spoke wheels,(tubeless after approvals in future) as they aren't the hard core off-road varieties???
@FTRClub Жыл бұрын
I did mention about the peace of mind the KTM brings coz it runs on tubeless tires. I agree that I missed to point out one of the most important points and that’s the weight advantage of the KTM. I am not an influencer bro. I am just another guy who loves motorcycles and likes share about it with like minded people. Unlike influencers who get bikes from factory for days, I walk into a showroom, ride the bike and shoot these videos. Coming back to your point, I don’t see any reason why would RE get cast wheels on Himalayan. In fact no manufacturer makes 21” cast wheels. They might however bring a Scrambler on this platform, but that too “MAY” get cast wheels (there are 90% chances of it not getting cast wheels).
@virajvrooms Жыл бұрын
Experienced riders will have no problems on any bikes. So that argument doesn't count. The updated 390 will face similar drawbacks like the Himalayan. a larger front, skinny tyres and a top heavy design. It will always be a trade-off.

@FTRClub8 ай бұрын
There’s no escaping vibrations from single cylinder bikes, but compared to the KTM, Himalayan has significantly lesser vibrations & it even heats up lesser. Until the updated Adv is launched, with the bigger engine, Himalayan will continue to be a better option among the two. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

@FTRClub8 ай бұрын
2 things to know: 1. There’s no timeline known to anyone about the launch of the updated Adv 390. It has been spied testing since April 2023. It’s over a year now. 2. Even if the 390 is launched in a few months, it will be a lot more expensive. I am suspecting that on-road prices will begin from 4.75 (current model with the electronics package starts at 4.54L). KTM might not build an “X” version at all, unless the sales numbers are low. If you aren’t in a rush and if you have the budget, you can wait for the updated 390. Else you can get the Himalayan. Trust me you won’t regret.

Sir please help i want a realibe and comfortable bike , that can run long term with good maintenance which should i pich Him 452 or KTM x ? 💕✨
@FTRClub10 ай бұрын
Sorry to put it this way, but KTM will start showing problems much sooner. Since the bike can be ridden hard, you will use the brakes a lot more and the brake pads won’t last more than 6-7,000 kms. Stock chain sprocket and clutch plates usually have a life of max 12-15,000 kms. The engine produces so much vibration that the plastic part surrounding the headlight assembly breaks off (result of poor engineering). Himalayan is still new and it needs atleast another 3-4months to prove its reliability. If you are not in a rush, then I’d say please wait for a few months. Hopefully the updated 390 Adventure will also be out by then. If you aren’t very particular about 40bhp or more, try the Suzuki VStrom SX250. It’s a lovely motorcycle which can tour at 115-120 all day long and the engine is bulletproof

What about the tube tyre issue? Why u dont count this as a major issue.
@FTRClub Жыл бұрын
Well, I did speak about it but while editing somehow I had clipped that part. My bad. I understand it could be a dealbreaker for many buyers. I’ve been living with tube type tires on my Xpulse’s since last 2 years and never had I gotten a puncture across 12,000+ kms riding in city or highways or during terrible off-roading. The KTM-X gets tubeless tires but the grip from those MRF’s isn’t something to brag about. The RE gets tube-type but the grip from the new Ceat rubber is exceptional.

@FTRClub7 ай бұрын
Hi Buddy, If you aren’t in a rush then I’d recommend you to wait for the updated 390 Adventure. It will have a more powerful and usable engine. Sadly I am not a big fan of the current engine on the 390. Due to poor low end torque, that engine needs a lot of downshifting plus the suspension is equally hard. Having said that, although the Himalayan is a bit heavy and makes lesser power, that engine is more usable than the one of the KTM. If you are inclined more towards the KTM then it’s worth waiting for the upgraded model

@@FTRClub , Thanks Buddy.😊 For answering all questions patiently. One last question, If I take adventure X, i wouldn't miss on below ? 1. Traction control 2. Suspension - some videos says it's downgraded (big piston) As informed, I plan for ride from Bangalore to Leh/Ladakh, considering national highways and those off roads on route to Leh from Manali, would I miss suspension which comes in standard adventure? I have Unicorn, so any bike above 250 feels like awesome. But buying after long time for longer rides so checking more. Please don't be irritated for questions, we get very less professional advices in this field.
@FTRClub7 ай бұрын
@@JeevanShivanna The Traction Control is a good to have feature, but not mandatory. Even on my Z900 I keep the TC turned Off. Suspension is the same on the X and the Standard variant. Only the SW variant gets adjustable suspension and I can guarantee more than 99% of the SW would have never ever turned the suspension by even one click. I have an Xpulse Rally and I have never ever felt the need to fiddle around with the clickers on the suspension. The only sore point on the X version is the switchgear. I hope KTM has already fixed it. I hope this helps. And please don't hesitate to ask whatever doubt you have on your mind. @FTRClub Жыл бұрын
At 5’ 7” KTM will be challenging due its seat height. Moreover, since you have never owned a bike, the 390’s brutal power response can make riding a bit too intimidating and it does get new riders in trouble. Considering all these, I’d recommend you get the Himalayan. Also, please test ride the Triumph Scrambler 400X as well. It’s a lovely beginner friendly bike.

@FTRClub Жыл бұрын
I won’t recommend the Adv X (atleast for now) coz of the build quality issues. My closest friends own both the Adv-X and the one with full electronics package. The small plastic part alongside the headlight assembly breaks away in no time. The switches are worse than an XL Super. The passenger grab rail can’t be used to lift the rear of the bike else it breaks the internal assembly holding it. There are many such issues. If you are looking for city and occasional highway runs, get the Triumph Scrambler 400-X. However, if you are into off-roading a lot (like me), I’d recommend the Himalayan. I’ve posted a separate video on the Himalayan where I’ve covered all the positives and negatives. You can take it a look at it on the channel. At the offering price, Himalayan is definitely a steal. I hope this helps.

I was hoping for Himalayan 450 being tubeless but it never launched for the Indian market . Any tips for the purchase of Ktm 390 Adventure X ! Much appreciated if you give me some . My main riding style would be 90 % of highway and roads . 10% would be offroad 😅
@FTRClub9 ай бұрын
Your usage seems primarily for highways and currently there’s no other bike offering more value and capable for measuring the length and breadth of the country other than the 390. The good thing about X is that it doesn’t get unnecessary electronics and since it has the same engine as the top spec model, it can cruise at 120-130 all day long without any drama. The updated model’s launch is just around the corner but I am doubtful that KTM will bring an X version with the new model. Go ahead with the Adv-X brother. Trust me you won’t regret it

Depends on your age. If you are in your 20s. Just buy a used KTM 390 adventure and own it until you are capable to handle ADVs. Participate in off road events of KTM ProXP. You still have a lifetime to experience biking ahead. If you are in 30s and just starting your biking journey then Go for the scrambler 400. You still have a good amount of time to experience biking but then ensure you don't hurt yourself. If in 40s I would say buy two bikes. One a smaller spare bike to hone your skills and an ADV to enjoy those skills. And please don't listen to these KZbinrs. You don't need to gain weight. The bikes are already 100+ kg. Practicing will increase your strength naturally. Lower your body weight better in your old age..

Is the re engine smoother than the KTM by a big margin.how much smoother is it . Twin cam single cylinder 4 valve engines dont like low rpms anyways how low do you expect it to pull from . And why do you shift early in the first place, first gear does pull up to 30 kmph lugging it will never feel good. The re is still a bad spec with near 200 kg for a 450 with not much power the ktm is not that great also . Both are road bikes that can be used for casual off road . Dont you think India should have a bike that is close to a dakar rally bike spec with a twin cylinder engine with 160 kg weight . CF Moto mt 450 is the closest to what the Himalayan engine should have been but it's heavy.
@FTRClub Жыл бұрын
I agree with you are saying, but here’s my argument: 1. At lower revvs (below 6,000 rpm) yes, the RE engine is significantly smoother than the KTM. 2. Why would you need to downshift to 1st gear each time you cross a traffic light at slow speeds (not talking about a complete halt to 0kmph)? Why can’t the engine sustain 2nd gear without knocking for speeds up to 30kmph. 3. Let’s not expect Street Triple type lightweight nature in budget/affordable motorcycles. All these “Affordable Adventure” bikes on sale in India, from Xpulse to Himalayan to KTM are quite heavy for the power they make (KTM having a significant power to weight advantage for sure). 4. I am not aware of any twin cylinder motorcycle that currently races in Dakar Rally. They are all single cylinder. With the quest to make bikes affordable/approachable manufacturers are compelled not to use high quality components which are lightweight. But yeah, there’s no denying that RE could have worked on keeping overall weight of the new Himalayan well upto 180 kgs.
@TheINDIAN Жыл бұрын
@@FTRClub using 2nd gear below 30 kmph is to low a speed for a twin cam single to pull. For such low rpm pull u need more cylinders. Or valve deactivation using 2 valves for such low rpm pull. It's disappointed to see that re made a 450 that's so heavy. They just don't care for the rider when you drop the bike with luggage and try pulling it up and when your body gives up you are going to regret. Without guards its near 200 kg . Why do we have such bad lazy engineering. A 450 cc engine that has less power than a 375 cc engine. That to a single cylinder in 2023.

Himalayan is top heavy and unreliable. Right now, 5-6 riders in my group have either half engine replaced or the timing chain kit replaced, one guy has got full engine replaced. This is apart from the coneset and chassis issues. The engine tappet n valve noise is just unbearable in few H450 bikes. I mean the quality is not consistent, it's a hit or a miss. The QC levels of Himalayan is still not upto the mark, but they will get there eventually. Till then getting a KTM is your best bet.

I guess this comparison is biased in favor of Himalayan . 1) KTM is 20 Kgs lighter than the Himalayan- ask any experience rider what a big difference that it. 2) Even Himalayan has no juice below 4K RPM. 3) KTM handles way better than Himalayan in every given condition and way more agile. 4) KTM can do both city and highway duties with ease , Himalayan is very tough to maneuver in City. 5) KTM has no issues in ergonomics like Himalayan, where foot pegs will foul with your calf muscle. No doubt Himalayan is a very good bike , but KTM is better , and Himalayan's price is 30 to 50K more than what it should have been.
