After seeing this above video of Royal Enfield Himalaya i am very happy about one thing. Our Hyderabad Roads are no where less than off roads of Himalayas...... especially during rainy season. so i strongly recommend to all our Hyderabad Guys to buy this bike and enjoy the Himalayan drive here itself in our Hyderabad City.

That is a very nice, simple looking bike. Most people, including me, would like to have fuel injection in their daily bike for obvious reasons, but imagine your fuel injection goes wrong in a place where you need to do your own servicing - then the carb's simplicity is key. It looks like it has very few unnecessary fancy things, and in a bike of that nature that is surely a good thing. It would have been nice to hear about the fuel economy. I doubt that that bike will be sold here in Japan any time soon, but if I lived in India where the bike is still made and sold, I think I would happily buy one. I also like the idea of a return to a long stroke engine. 'Over-square' engines are nice, and they have advantages, but why not have a bike with a nice relaxed engine? They last longer after all. The idea of a 10,000 kilometre oil change is just ridiculous though. I have a very modern Suzuki 650 V-twin, and I change the oil every 3,000 kilometres. I would never allow my bike to go 10,000 on the same oil. No way. Maybe Royal Enfield uses fully synthetic oil that costs a lot... in that case, O.K. Thanks for the review, I like the bike very much.

+sounak mallik As long as it doesn't hamper the performance there are qualm. But there are 3 thing which need to be addressed asap. i) It needs more power. At least 10 more BHP would wonders. ii) ABS iii) Traction Control to make it a truly safe and capable bike. Agreed that it would push the cost more, but this is a niche market and people wouldn't mind spending a bit more
@shuttlebadminton248 жыл бұрын
+staninjapan07 Fuel economy they claim is 45km but practically it would be 35 to 38 as its a 410cc engine. Even am worried about the oil cost. Lets see. During the test test ride, I was not able to reach 3rd gear since the 1 gear allowed me to push till 50+km and the second gear is the max I was able to. This means 100 to 110 might be the cruising speed and am damn sure it will be awesome.
@adityasundar3248 жыл бұрын
Mohanlal D I have to admit that I did not test ride it. But could you give your opinion on how would it fare with 2 fully loaded saddle bags and some heavy luggage in the pillion ? I mean will it still be able to cruise in triple digits without a drop of sweat? I seriously feel that this motorcycle should at least give 5 more horses if not 10.

nice!shows royal Enfield can evolve and produce really good new products/categories and not just keep recycling the nostalgia. Also kudos for taking the path less explored and not just concentrating on the mass market-it needs passion to do that! Even if the Himalyan is not a financial success (its a nitch product) i would still applaud RE for making a great product! Personal opinion -headlamp design/integration could have been handled better on a overall well designed package! and the blog by Mr Lal was fantastic. Might own a himalayan some day (when i start touring)good luck RE!proud of you.

I don't know why guys need more bhp, if u see bhp:torque this bike works perfect and being from Himalayas I don't see any reason u need to cross 70kmph in our winding and unpredictable roads. and ABS would have been helpful if u r above three digit mark in speed, which I feel is very dangerous when u see the condition for which this made .. I.e. Himalayan areas. every years we have so many death cases due to over speeding, so all the specs u guys want makes u vulnerable too.

It's tall, 800 mm seat height is not meant for all. The engine is smooth, it's quite different from the existing Royal Enfield engines due to the counter balancer. It's fast, a little jumpy. Sometimes it felt like a Horse :D. The bike is grand, I was quite emotional but since I am not going to stay in the same city, I couldn't buy it :-\ .

Hello from Nepal! Very nice review! As always! The hard clutch and the thrashy engine sound has been the signature of the company.. so I guess they had their share of discussion before they decided on the sweet balance without being too obnoxious.. the engine doesn't sound too bad, compared to other enfields.. I hope we could lube down that hard clutch.. my only concern as for now is the durability and maintenance.. if I get a green signal on them.. I'd be good to go.. waiting eagearly for this bike to arrive in Nepal..

Very nice...thanks. I wish the suspension damping was adjustable. It is better if you switch off ABS while riding through gravel, snow...so I fail to understand the constant cribbing about it. And for the price offered by RE, Himalayan seems like a great deal. Please do another review for city rides...behaviour in heavy traffic...how many stares 😜...the bike is not available in Delhi due to BS 4 norms...so I have some time to decide whether to have it as my only bike...perhaps they will update and release a fuel injected version soon. You mentioned a bit about Himalayan being slightly underpowered...will it struggle on a gradient (off road incline) compared to other heavy adventure bikes (Triumph Tiger, GS is too huge of a bike). Thank you.

Kartikeya Singhee Hi Kartikeya.. first off, big fan. :) i think you (and autocar) always have the best quality presentations in your reviews as compared to other indian channels (ahem powerdrift) .... and its not really about the roads.. you see, me and my father really love bikes and cars, its something special we share. and i want to buy him a fun bike, and am thinking of an enfield.. its retro, i respect Siddhartha for how he's turned it around, and the continental looks great... im sure he will barely use the bike.. its more of an indulgence.. seeing these two bikes back to back will help me decide which one..
@SirKart8 жыл бұрын
+Aditya Jayaram Hey! That's awesome stuff. Love the idea of father-son riding together! if its an indulgence, the Conti is just such a pretty one! And if he isn't going to gas it around much, dont see why not! He'd be okay with the slightly sporty seating posture? That's where the Himalayan could have an advantage - upright and comfy. Happy riding man! Envious. And, thank you for watching. Take care!

@SirKart8 жыл бұрын
+jashan lamba Hey! Thats a technique used when riding off-road or on loose surfaces. The inside leg is placed forward to move more weight toward teh front wheel. (Even the upperbody is positioned as far forward on the seat as possible) This gives it more grip. And in case the front tyre slips you can use your foot to push up the bike. if you want to know more - www.autocarindia.com/auto-videos/big-rock-motopark-video-feature-388861.aspx

Is the RE gear you're wearing also comfortable and practical for "himalayan" trips? I really wish we had something that is rain resistant and not too expensive.
@SirKart8 жыл бұрын
+Zeeshan Diwan The RE gear! Man, it was awesome. the pant and jacket are made by REV'IT. Its a well known brand, you could google it. And they were unbelievable. Kept me warm and dry all day long. It was raining pretty much non stop and it started snowing too. The problem were the gloves, which weren't water proof. And my boots for dirt aren't equipped to tackle all day rain. So my hands and feet were frozen. If those were waterproof, would have been able to ride through it all without a care. It was 7-8C while raining! and when it was snowing it was down to 2-3C. Will be doing a review for the gear shortly. And, yes, it is expensive. Rs21k for the jacket. There is a RE made jacket as well, which some other riders used and they found that to be very good as well. Good gear is important. One time investment. Take care.

All my bikes are fitted with 100/90 bulbs with relays, as I consider that a bare minimum when travelling high speeds in the dark( I ride heavily modified karizmas) ...but... - How are the lights on this one? - Did you notice anything about electricals that might seem problematic? - The exhaust note seems pretty mild in the video but am assuming its much throatier... how does it sound? (hehe) - 700 - 800 kms in a day on a Karizma without me or the bike breaking a sweat...Do you think it stands up to that kind of abuse? high rev, long distances without stops for hours at a stretch? Royal Enfield is quite well known for their marketing of shoddy workmanship in the name of appealing to purists; this seems like the first time they attempted something purpose built...I'm pleasantly surprised to hear you say that there were no rattles, squeaks or leaks...Not even a blown front fork seal? wow... I am slowly being seduced... Only thing missing are a pair of handsome . :)
@SirKart8 жыл бұрын
+Pratap Kutty Hey, i don't think its going to be as comfortable to hold at high speeds like the Karizma. I don't think it is a highway only machine - something the Karizma did very well. But, it will be good. No, not even a fork seal. Or, footpeg. I was jumping on it. :-) Thanks!
