The Missouri Monster! RE Himalayan with 462cc big bore kit and Tec Cam installed and tuned by an expert. This is what a mechanic does when he gets a Himalayan. Wahoo!

I'm totally stoked about my 21 I just bought from Baxter. It will likely get the TEC cam. The Himalayan is the CR-V of motorcycles I think. Practical, useful, classy.

Excellent info - thank you! I have heard that clutch action can be made lighter by shaking graphite down the cable. Might come in handy with the stronger pull of the built up clutch.

I’d do the big bore and cam. I’m a small guy, and with the extra power I think I might actually get in trouble on the himalayan. Lookin forward for the warranty to end so I can start hot roding the himalayan. I love the bike as is, I can only imagine what a big bore and cam and a tune would do. Who knows I might get impatient, I’m already talking myself into it 😂. Awesome video, good to see people do more then just ride these bikes, cool to see the potential of the platform and actually have some good power and performance

I didn’t wait. I put a cam, exhaust, intake, piggy back ecu, deleted all the emissions crap. I figured for the cost of a new head and all other parts are so damn cheap I probably wouldn’t even file a warranty claim for any engine work anyway and do it myself. A whole new head assembly is less than $300 in the US.

How is the bike on the highway with the big bore kit and cam? I've been doing several hundred mile trips on the weekend on mine and where I'm at in Texas, even the back roads are 70-75mph and this bike is killing me. I was wondering if putting the money into the kit would be worth it or not if it helped the bike do up to 80mph comfortably.
@forgottenmotorcycles
@forgottenmotorcycles Жыл бұрын
This is something the owner of that bike and I have talked about. He feels that if he raised the gearing to keep the RPMs low with the extra power he should be able to cruise down the highway at 80. However, I wonder person should get something larger if they need to cruise at 80 miles an hour for long periods of time? My second choice for motorcycles was the KLR. With its larger engine little bit higher gearing might help that bike get better 80 mph motorcycle. Of course you'd lose the Himalayan styling :-)

I,m runnin the TEC cam on my Himalayan.. For my style of riding the benefits do,nt come until the revs are 4500 and over. which is abit of a letdown.. So for me the 465 kit is the way to go(more bottom end)... I would be interested to know whether you have got rid of all that emission stuff situated under the engine?

I have the 462 + HT cam that’s made more for lower torque. It comes it play around 2800 RPM and it good to 5500. Then power goes flat. No gain in top end but acceleration is much better.

@Mytwistedvoices
@Mytwistedvoices 2 жыл бұрын
@@lipsee100 remember that’s 40hp at the crank. It’s less at the wheel. For example, the current Himalayan is 24hp at the crank, but the dyno shows 19hp at the wheel. With $1500 in upgrades, the old stock Himalayan can produce up to 30hp. Look for the dyno values when people start testing the bike. I’m pushing 24-25hp max at the wheel. I still have a stock exhaust.

@forgottenmotorcycles

We actually talked about this last weekend. It is slightly less but not a significant amount different. This bike and a stock Himalayan were in Colorado a few weeks ago. The roads were rough so the speeds were down and both bikes were averaging sorting in the high 70's to low 80's. I get about 60 mpg here in Iowa on regular roads at regular speeds. Wahoo!
