Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 - 51,000 km Long-Term Ownership Review | Modification | Performance

In this video I am sharing long-term ownership review of my Interceptor 650 (Orange Crush).
A brief overview about Pros and Cons of this beautiful retro classic motorcycle. I bought this motorcycle in October 2019 and completed 51,000km milestone on September 2022. Here in this video you can see the performance modification that I have done over the period of time.

If I was RE CEO, and I see that YSS makes better suspension, I would just pay YSS for their suspensions and begin assembling with them instead of placing the burden on the customer.

I love 💕 my HD 883 Sportsters belt drive and hydraulic valve adjustment.Belts last over 100,000 miles with no maintenance. Just change the fluids and the filter and you are good to go.

I wish they had an option for 19in cast wheels and some risers to get a few more inches of ground clearance 😉 more suspension travel so that the bike can be made more suitable for taller riders and going places off the road. I do like the general RE business model. The future is with general purpose machines that allow a rider to go anywhere and do anything he wants with a bike that is durable and low maintenance.

No tangible problems up to the present 33k miles except for one thing. Today I replaced the right fork seal for the third time. My fault really because as I'm doing the third replacement I noticed a rock had knicked the tube causing it to damage the first 3 seals. Fine sand paper took out the knick.

S&S exhaust.. sounds great, but that's 1/5th the price of the bike in bring cash BC. I simply drilled out the exhaust 15mm front and back.. cool 60s sound! Cost nothing. Love my Interceptor. 😚

True, but it also reduce the weight of the bike and well built compared to stock exhaust. I did lot of modifications that wont justfy if we compare with the cost of the bike .😄

Congratulations on crossing 50k kms! Wanted to ask if you've changed the rear suspension to yss as well or is it still stock? Do you think its worth changing the rear suspension too? My new interceptor is coming next month and the first thing I want to do is change the suspension to yss ones but want to know if it's worth doing both front and rear or only front.

Thanks, YSS suspension makes drastic difference in riding ergonomics and better hadling. Rear suspension is still stock ,may be upgrade that in the near future. Changing just front suspension also makes lots of difference. If u r about get ur new bike, just ride it stock for sometimes then go for upgradation.

If you have budget u can upgrade both at the same time,Since rear suspension of YSS is very expensive I thought of using the stock rear suspension for some more kms

Instead of many models, I would prefer one model with many options: 1. Short or tall suspension? 2. Std tank or adv tank? 3. Single seat or bench seat? 4. 650cc or 850cc? 5. Windshield or not? Like that ...

In next couple of years we will get many models in 650cc segment, Super Meteor already launched.Next classic 650, Himalayan 650, Hunter 650 etc etc 😀

I had wobbling issue with ceat front tire. When the tire got more used the wobble has increased. When I replaced with a Metzelder lasertech front tire no wobbling at all

I never had a issue of wobbling. But I have noticed that maintaining proper tyre air pressure is must.I have used Pirelli,Ceat and now Timsun.But no wobbling issue.Did cone setting twice in my last 72k kms

Hi, Nice video. Could you tell how the NGK Spark plugs have helped. Has it altered the performance of the bike?

Performance wise I won't comment much specifically about NGK.But it work great along with Aftermarket exhaust and Performance airfilter. Engine became smooth and initial pick increased.Changing intervals of spark plugs drastically reduced.

Interceptor/GT is a classic retro bike and heavy bikes whereas BMW 310R modern design bike.If u want power and torque go with Inty/GT . Service cost is also considerably low as compared to BMW. I dont want to comment on looks as that's subjective and that depends on individual taste and preference

Not experienced any drastic changes ,when I kept the map setting at 3 or 4 .But if you go above 6 , you will find drop in mileage.

i had been there at Rider Mania and saw the Super Meteor 650.The motorcycle looks fantastic.Existing twins 650 and the Super Meteor 650 are completely different except the engine.Super Meteor has some new stuffs which Interceptor or GT doesn't have.The Cons will come to know when the motorcycle hit the road .I never had any issue with Interceptor .Yeah definitely could have done better as far as quality concern.Intetceptor is a simple and raw motorcycle and engine is the main attraction.Now RE has powerfull, much refined engine and they will definitely focus on other stuffs in their upcoming lineup.

I want to upgrade from thunderbird 350 to a bigger RE only,but my height is 5.4 ft, Thunderbird is very comfortable for long rides,I have a doubt about the comfort on ur bike for me and whether my height is perfect to ride 650 interceptor? If you guide me it will be of great help

If you have budget, then go for Super Meteor 650 instead of Interceptor/GT 650, since u r looking for comfortable long rides.

Interceptor 650 is also a good option for Highway cruising with decent comfort if u r a solo rider

Major difference is you can have a option to adjust A/F ratio for some extent as it comes with preset maps.Also Engine and exhaust temperature are cooler as it claimed by the company and that's true

I was using Booster Plug for more than 1.5years. I felt diffrence as compared to the stock.Now about booster plug and Fuelx pro, If u feel difference with BP stay with it.Bcoz there's not much performance gain after switching to FuelX pro from Booster plug.it is almost similar to BP

Hi, This bike handle well up to 140kms/h beyond that you feel wobbling issue (common issue for most of the Twin 650 rider) and you loose the confidence to rise the throttle further more. I usually cruise at 120kms/h or below that speed. Many riders observed wobbling issue at lower speed also, that might be due to improper tyre pressure.

No, fork leg is stock.Only springs, Preloaded adjuster and emulators from YSS.

What is the best settings for rear suspension?

If u r using Pre-load adjuster at the front suspensions, it's advice to adjust the rear suspension to componsate. But it also depending on Rider's weight as well. Generally there's no standard adjustments for rear suspension.It depends on rider's weight, conditions of the road( highway or off-road/bad road) etc. Initially I kept rear suspension setting with medium stiffness ,after YSS front suspension installation, I made the rear suspension stiffer (did lot of adjustment to achieve decent comfort)
