What is it about the RE its, not the fastest or the quickest off the mark but I have noticed that every RE ride ends with a big grin? RE riders can always be seen admiring their bike. It gives you that I'm glad I bought it feeling. Especially if you are over 40. I am 83 and my RE makes me feel I'm back in the '60s. Speed isn't important it's the ride that makes me feel great. Some days I can't wait I have to go on a ride. From Australia!!

As the owner of both a 2020 Enfield 650INT and 2020 Speed Twin; both purchased new I would like to comment. 18 months and over 20,000 miles on my Enfield and still going strong. I have installed the YSS front end kit and also stainless header pipes and aftermarket silencers. Weight full of fuel is 442 pounds. My fuel mileage has gone from 71 or 72 to a solid 74 mpg, I am 220lbs and 6'4". Both the R.E. and the Speed Twin have identical switchgear, etc so it is easy to ride either one intuitively (I am 72...) The complaints about footpeg placement are moot for a tall rider; I prefer the R.E.'s riding position over any of my three Triumphs, some days I ride 150+ miles. 11•22•'21...
@forgottenmotorcycles
@forgottenmotorcycles 2 жыл бұрын
That is great to hear. 74 mpg is amazing and considerably higher than the 45 mpg I was told the bike was getting. I found the suspension basic but good, can only guess at how much better it does with the upgraded front end. Also, would love to hear the pipes. I'd like to see some pictures or video of your bike, you could post them on our Forgotten Motorcycles Facebook page: facebook.com/groups/425017539210264/ Where about are you from? Thanks!

@@forgottenmotorcycles I hail from the western foothills of Virginia, USA; 5 miles from the northern entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway, it heads south 469 miles and I ride about 20-percent of it then turn around and come back. Perfect highway for a 40 cubic inch twin, the suggested speed limit is 45 mph. Also ride a few Triumphs to give the wee R.E. a break once in a while. I will post pics, I have a private FB page with many followers here in the Shenandoah Valley. Note: the Speed Twin 1200cc is rated at 59mpg. Running easy, mine is averaging 62-65mpg. It also has the X-pipe "cat delete". I keep the extra 50 ponies in-the-barn until needed; 97 vs. 47. Yee-haw!

Got the last remaining 2021 Ice Queen Conti GT from the dealership last month and it has been a dream - such a great machine and has brought a smile on my face every day that I've ridden it. I'm about to upgrade the suspension this week which I feel is one thing the bikes need over the factory offering. Great looking MK 2 - that chrome tank pops!

What was the otd price? In chicago I'm getting quote for $9000 for the int650. I guess RE is having trouble keeping stocked. Wonder if I should just bite the "bullet " and let them get me for 5-600$ and buy the bike I want. I hate bike dealers
@MNStory81
@MNStory81 2 жыл бұрын
@@Imarida2 - Total for me was $8,219.51 - that included a $700 knock-off price cause the dealership was moving the last three 2021s to make room for the 2022s (they had two Mr. Chrome and the Ice Queen), and with the purchase of the five year theft insurance package I bought from them. I highly recommend getting one - it's a solid motorcycle/engine platform. I've now gotten the TEC big bore exhaust kit which has dramatically changed the sound to a very nice roar - I literally have had people asking me at red lights what kind of bike it is, or asking which model Triumph it is cause they don't recognize it. I'll even get questions on whether it's a vintage bike or not. Next up is the 865cc kit lol.

I'm from India and own the Classic 500. That is a big departure from the smooth and peppy engine of the 650 twins. However, I still love that bike. It has character and so do these. RE has cracked the formula to make their bikes look macho, timeless classics. And absolutely great for a plethora of modifications. Congratulations on your bike. The chrome is my favourite of the lot as well. Happy riding.

RE has not cracked any formula..they were dumb and they will stay dumb...they are well known for making very heavy bulky motorcycle with very little pickup and high maintenance.. reason why interceptor 650 engine you like .its because it was designed by someone else...do your research more on this

@@burjis24 did you even read the comment or your illogical hatred towards RE has blinded you. My comment was about how they've a fantastic aesthetic sense and all of their products are very pleasing to look at. And in terms of performance, it's a love hate relationship. You either like it or not. Millions of people including me love the RE in spite of its flaws cos it's not meant to be ridden like any other bike. And with their new platform the performance and refinement are resolved (for people who had issues with that). And what do you mean someone else did it? It's called business. You hire people who have expertise in certain things. It's like saying Apple products are dumb cos they're manufactured by "someone else" in China or use Samsung components. Jeez. 🤦

I'm glad to see RE added fork gaiters to a lot of the RE twins. On average I ride 15,000 miles a year and I like to protect the fork tubes from all the bugs which dry up and later cut through the fork tube seals. The gaiters will eliminate the need to rebuild the front forks later on.

I agree with you that the major cause of fork seal failure is the glass-hard remains of bugs. I like Yamahas idea of just having a short plastic shield in front of the exposed part of the fork slider. My bike is the Euro 5 version with the gators, which look OK, but I might find a Yamaha-style guard to fit instead. I worry about condensation behind those Gators.

I’m utterly baffled by the seemingly unanimous positive reviews on KZbin for these things. Took my truck, a wad of cash and a loading ramp to buy a used 2021 continental gt in like brand new condition with 1100 miles on it over the weekend. Was just dumbfounded at how horrible the bike felt to me on the test ride. I ran away from that thing fast. Felt embarrassed I wasted his time. Rode like a goldwing, on sloppy mountain bike suspension powered by a ridiculously loud and underpowered engine. I should mention it did have S@S pipes so beware before spending the money on those, they are stupid LOUD! And NO not in a good way. The last thing you want to do with a severely lethargic motorcycle is draw everybody’s attention to how slow it is with obscenely loud exhaust that makes it sound like your pinning the throttle to max without hardly moving. Going through more reviews since the test ride makes me think in need to find a different one to test ride. Maybe the one I rode was just a bad setup with the pipes and all.

Like loud pipes on someone else's bike but not on mine. A trip to a good dealer may be in order. Let me know what you learn.

Can you fit a auto clutch to these?. Yes I can use a clutch. But I’m arthritic and old. I’d like to get back into riding after a twelve year Jones. These bikes are gorgeous. Classic looks without the fuss.

I put a few miles on a Mk 2 yesterday afternoon. These are wonderful, friendly motorcycles. A very good choice for any skill level rider. Not sure what can be done with the clutch but it does have a very neutral and easy pull. Get down to a dealer and take a look at one. Wahoo!

This bike was modified for it's owner by Baxter Cycle of Marne Iowa. They should be able to help you with any info on this particular bike. I would reference the video. If the parts person can't help (he should be able to help) then I'd ask for one of the sales people. They are very friendly people at Baxter's. Website is Baxtercycle.com Wahoo!

They look absolutely beautiful. The almost total gloss black everything with the gold details and one of a kind brass badging. Wow! I actually hope they make an everyday version of it for us normal folks. Wahoo!

whats the diff of a base and Mk2 ?
@forgottenmotorcycles
@forgottenmotorcycles 2 жыл бұрын
I had the same question. Short answer: Mk2 is the color of the bike, the chrome/red tank. I know they made these Interceptors in the 60s or early 70s so thought maybe it signified the modern bike. Also thought that it might be a modern sub model but all the info I can find points to Mk 2 being the color of the bike. Good question, thanks!

Way too big wide engine improperly placed on the chassis...it touches your thighs and heat flows through your legs especially in city rides.....footrest too close to engine and still your legs will be too wide spread...even the rear footrest is weird.uncomfortable sitting posture feels Risky to handle....the seat is super uncomfortble for such a heavy motorcycle for long rides...no backrest support for rear pillion seat. Bike is way tok huge and heavy for daily city commute....headlight is still halogen which is not so powerful in low light driving conditions...bad body to weight ratio....even come of lesser powered bikes drive faster and better as they have better body to weight ...silencer pipes look weird raised up...Royal enfield needs to bring an updated model improving the defects...
