This channel is awesome. I just got my own Interceptor 650 yesterday and I’d like to learn to work on it myself. You’re doing a great job of making that more accessible.

@TerraMagnus Thank you. I really appreciate the comment. That's awesome. You chose a great bike. The Interceptor 650 is built very well but it's also very simple. With the right tools you should be able to do most of the maintenance by yourself. I will be removing the engine from the bike to do some upgrades in a week or two. I was going to start this weekend but I realized I needed one last factory tool to get the engine out of the frame. I ordered it last night. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

The upper and lower nuts (2 each side) on the exhaust header where it mounts to the cylinder head often need to be snugged down at this early interval; that has been the case with my Royal Enfield INT650 and a Triumph Speed Twin 1200cc as well as my Bonneville SE, usually a quarter turn and occasionally a half turn or more. This is part of the first service-check/oil-change at the dealer. Another good oil for the vertical twins is CASTROL 4T.
@my-enfield6122 жыл бұрын
@ Frederick Woods That's good to know. I've been sick so I haven't been on the bike since the oil change but I'll check the headers before the next ride. Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna finish the maintenance list in the manual. I just didn't have time that day. The nearest Royal Enfield dealers are hundreds of miles away from me. Thanks again for your comments and thanks for watching.

10w50 motorcycle full synyhetic oil is available on Amazon. I would recommend sticking with the oil that the manufacturer approves.
@my-enfield6122 жыл бұрын
@nrich51 Thanks for the comment. I’m pretty sure you can find almost anything on Amazon. I don't want to order my oil online though. I want it to be available locally. It's just preference. Always available when I need it. I searched around for 10w50 but nobody sells it around here. So, I did a ton of research before I decided to use 20w50. Believe it or not, there are a lot of Royal Enfield owners running Motul 20w50, Redline 20w50, and yes, Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50 in the Interceptor 650. I haven't heard of anyone having problems so far. There are a lot of Interceptor 650 owners running something other than 10w50 in their bikes. I know someone that has almost 30K miles on his Interceptor and he said I could use 15w50 if I wanted to. I'm going to continue using 20w50. This channel is about my first motorcycle, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, and the things I learn as I become a more experienced rider. So, will running 20w50 motor oil in the Interceptor 650 damage the engine? We're gonna find out. I'll strain the oil on the next change and check engine temp. If there isn't sufficient lubrication, there might be metal shavings in the oil. I'll see what the cold starts are like when winter gets here. Also, I plan on increasing the compression ratio to 10:1 and I'll probably put better rods and a larger cam in it too. So, when I pull the crank, cam, and pistons, I'll be able to inspect the bearings and rings for damage. I won't get into the science of motor oil. But, in the warm climate I live in, 20w50 motor oil should provide sufficient lubrication for the Interceptor 650. However, for anyone reading this, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 owner's manual says to use fully synthetic 10w50 to API SL (or higher) or JASO MA2, such as ELF MOTO4 Tech 10w50 motor oil. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.

Nice video sir👌,i own a continental GT650, i have noticed that its rear chain sprocket slightly wobbles left to right when the rear wheel rotates,is it normal for the twins? I asked this at the RE service centre mechanics they told me that it is normal as the sprocket housing on the rear wheel is mounted on the cush rubbers so that's why it wobbles. Sir Please make a video on it as well,thanks and Regards🙂🙏
@my-enfield6122 жыл бұрын
@Pehalwan Ji Thanks for the comment. I haven't noticed that with my Interceptor 650 but I'll take a look. I have been looking at the Continental GT650 and that's a good looking bike. I might get one someday. If I find something wrong with the sprocket or if it wobbles, I'll try to do a video on it. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.

Isn't warranty of Interceptor will become void if you do service and stuff at home or outside, except RE service station.
@my-enfield6122 жыл бұрын
@Ankit Purohit Honestly, to this day I have no idea how long the warranty lasts or anything about it. I have just never looked into it. The answer to your question is probably yes depending on the work done. But again, I know nothing about the warranty. The nearest dealer is a few hundred miles away from me so I'll be doing most of the work on the bike myself. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

Hello, this oil does not have the characteristics suitable for this engine. You are putting a 20W 50. The Interceptor needs a 10W50 oil ! Therefore, with a cold engine, there will be poor lubrication, especially in the most distant points of the engine. In addition, the passages of the engine and oil pump are calibrated for 10W oil, which has a greater fluidity. It would be correct not to indicate wrong products. Greetings
@my-enfield6122 жыл бұрын
@Raffaello Mazzoleni Thanks for the comment. In the video, I clearly state that the bike calls for 10w50 motor oil. I never recommended using 20w50. I just mention the oil I’m using. But, there are plenty of Interceptor 650 owners using 20w50. Lots of people recommending 20w50 Redline, Motul, and Mobil 1 V-Twin motor oil for the Interceptor 650. Now, the fist number on an oil bottle refers to how thick the oil can become at cold temperatures. At freezing temps a 10w oil will not thicken as much as a 20w oil. The ‘W” is an abbreviation for winter grade. A 10W-50 oil will have the viscosity of a 10-weight oil when temperatures are cold but work as well as a 50-weight oil when the engine heats up. A 10w oil will be less viscous in freezing temps compared to a 20w oil. You engine will start easier. So, if your vehicle is supposed to use let’s say a 50 grade oil you can use 10w50, 15w50, or 20w50 depending on what your climate is going to be. I live in Florida and it doesn’t get cold for long. Very rarely freezing. Warmer climates can use any of the oils but the 10w50 would be best for very cold starting. But again, Royal Enfield does recommend 10w50 for the Interceptor 650. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.
@ralpholeni4332 жыл бұрын
@@my-enfield612 , Hello, at minute 2:44 it is clearly visible that the oil in your hands, which you are placing in the engine, is a 20W 50. As for the climate linked to the place of use of the motorcycle, this is not decisive for the choice of oil. The oil must be the one recommended by the manufacturer as the engine design was calculated for that oil and not for one with different characteristics.
@my-enfield6122 жыл бұрын
@Raffaello Mazzoleni I know what I used. So does everyone who watches the video. They also know what the owners manual recommends because I tell them. I will continue to use Mobil 1 V Twin 20w50 in my Interceptor 650 as many other people do with no problems. Thanks again for the comment.
@ralpholeni4332 жыл бұрын
@@my-enfield612 , The bike is yours and, as a result, you can use the oil of your choice. The important thing is that anyone who watches your video is not confused and knows that the oil to be used, in the Interceptor, is the synthetic synthetic 10W50 compliant with API SL (or higher) and JASO MA specifications. Best regards and good luck.
