Interesting! 2 years after this review I find myself with this same choice but the price difference has narrowed considerably. In the UK a new RE Interceptor costs about £6,000 and a new, unused 2020 Street Twin can be found for £7,600. For sure the Street Twin is the better bike by any reasonable measurement but I find myself leaning towards the Interceptor. I recently sold my much loved Himalayan when forced to return home from the Middle East and I miss identifying with the Royal Enfield brand and riding with other Royal Enfield riders. Buying a bike is not always reasonable so having got this far writing this, I have made a decision. It's the Interceptor for me and I will spend the £1,600 saved riding around the country I left 23 years ago on a great Indian motorcycle.

Greetings from Ireland. Loved your video guys. I bought a 2012 Triumph Bonneville T100, 110th Anniversary Special new in 2012. The rear wheel was replaced under warranty because the chrome paint was flaking to the rear hub, which was replaced under warranty. The chrome plating was flaking to the rocker cover and the mudgaurd support bracket located between the front forks was red with rust. I cleaned and dried my bike meticulously and stored it in a dry garage. I have been out of motorcycling for a few years and the Royal Enfield Interceptor sounds a very inviting prospect to me.

I have been riding the Street Twin for a while now (turns 3 years old in Sep) and I have had a chance to ride the Interceptor last month. I think you get what you paid for with both. In the Triumph - the quality of materials (not a single rusty piece on my Street Twin after 3 years hard riding in coastal Kerala), the workmanship, the little details add to the feeling that you do have something special. It's also a breeze to ride in the city as well as the highways. Now coming to the RE, it's a fun bike no doubt. Pulls cleanly, looks awesome and rides like a charm (zero vibes/ great torque). However, there are jarring notes in the package. The ergonomics are flawed (Search the various forums around), it is unnecessarily heavy for a 650 and the quality of parts and workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. For example, the Interceptor I rode had visible rusting all over in what was essentially a 6-month-old bike. This does not detract from the riding experience for sure but for me, it does not feel special enough to buy. I am sure it will sell in great numbers in India and elsewhere but it does not tug at my heart as the triumph does. Just saying.

@TukaSlave5 жыл бұрын
Actually, I do. As far as Bonnies go, the Street Twin is a sort of seventies Yankee mash up. The T100 and T120 are the classic British Bonnevilles, and the RE Interceptor is far closer in looks to those. So, especially for the incredible price, the RE is the way to go. 650cc is enough, unless you are a certified maniac. In New Zealand, the Interceptor sells for $NZ10,290, whereas the Street Twin sells for $NZ16,890, and $NZ21,990 for the 1,200cc version.

Triumph has the brand value, perfection, quality and extra decent looks in every aspect from a closer look. You have to think one thing Interceptor is one of the top series bike of RE, that too launched just few months back, and Street Twin is the entry level bike of Triumph, that too bonneville series from 1960’s, so as a motorcycle company you can understand where they both stand. 250cc bigger engine, lighter in weight and thinner in size, very easy to ride and handle, decent mileage, stunning exhaust and sound. It is a Triumph, will see one out of ten thousand, but RE you will find thousands on Indian road, which has no charm to the eyes in these days. If you have a bigger dream go for the triumph, because it is Triumph, it’s really world class. I own a brand new Street Twin 2019, got in hand on Jan 2020, using it from last 5 months and I am perfectly fine till this day, but I wish to upgrade to Speed Twin 1200 CC later.

@@jacobsamuel2021 It's a Harley in the states. I've had 3 so far. Currently riding a R1200GS. My interceptor is the around town, fun to ride twisty road bike. It makes no sense to ride a huge ass bike around town to me, spending double the amount on a Triumph when I can spend half makes more sense. I suspect half the American population that own Harley's don't ride them often or more than 20 miles in a day. Many people own Harley's simply for status. I like Triumphs I don't like the idea of them being made in Thailand and still commanding premium prices. If I had to pick one it would be a speed twin. Triumphs have too many elements of a Japanese bike that copied old Triumphs. The RE 650's have a classic look that's designed by world renowned Harris Engineering. They simply don't look like knock offs. Then again a GS isn't particularly a "looker" to most and look nothing like the early models, which are still commanding high prices. BMW heritage models are quite ridiculous in that no classic BMW looks anything close to the new ones, with the exception of the R18 and it's just too farking big of an engine and the jugs are comically large. I bet they would have sold thousands had they made it an 850cc.

@Pisceanboi4 жыл бұрын
Great video. Both are designed in the UK. One is an English company, and the other is an Indian company as regards ownership of the two marques. Both machines are CAD/CAM designed and manufactured. . One is assembled by loving indian hands, and the other by loving Thai hands. If the styling aim is for a classic British bike from the 1970's, then it's the Royal Enfield by a country mile. If the bikes are reliable - and with a 3 year warranty why wouldn't they be, - then on a value for money basis it's again the Royal Enfield. The Triumph offers some extra niceties in the finesse of parts etc - but you pay for the privilege. As both are naked bikes, neither would be suitable for long distance touring. I would go with the RE - for it's styling, acceptable quality for the price - and I have no doubt the quality would be better than the original bikes from the 1970's (Triumph and BSA) on which this bike is modelled. I also think the RE twins will do sensationally well in the market compared to the Triumph. Bikes in the 50,s 60's and 70's in 1st world countries used to be seen as a cheaper and fun alternative to a car. In developing countries I'd think they're still seen as the same. However, now in 1st world countries bikes hold a niche market place, and charge accordingly. It's difficult to make an argument for a bike purchase these days unless you're a deadset enthusiast, when you're paying as much or more for a bike as for a good quality car. The RE" mark a return to good quality, fun, reliable and sensational looking bikes at realistic prices that the everyman can afford. It also means it's possible to have both a car and a great bike in the garage rather than having to choose one or the other when the bike is competing with the car on price. I wish RE every success with these twins, and as they develop the model and with marketing, the company could very much become a new leader in the international motor cycle market place.
