Thanks for watching this. Just so you know the "tripper Nav" section was filmed over 35 minutes and I somehow seemed to cut in the bit which I didn't want in the video and it showed the nav in the wrong way which was totally my fault. So take a pinch of salt with that section but it gives you the idea of what it's like...I still have the 30-minute footage so perhaps I could make a video on the tripper navigation sometime. Also the Meteor 350 comes with a side stand and USB charger, but due to audio issues I couldn't include this comment in the review. Thanks E.R : )

Awesome job Exmouth and you even gave me a mention, I feel truly honoured, thanks mate !!! It's really obvious just how much you and Toby enjoy the Meteor. Toby really is a chip off the old block, he'll be angling for your job soon 😂 He's very eloquent and made some great points, so hats off to him ! As somebody who gets to try a lot of lovely bikes, it really says a lot that you rate the Meteor so highly. It reassures me that I am not suffering from some kind of delusion, thinking that my Meteor is the perfect bike for me ! I really hope that you manage to find a way to get one for yourself. You'll enjoy hanging out with the RE boys and your lad will enjoy going out on the "Meaty" with you 👍🏻 Above all else I think that the Meteor really suits you. You look right on it and you have the right approach to riding and enjoying it. Exmouth has a new Easy Rider ! With regard to the noise on the dual carriageway, I hear that a lot. Some people feel that the RE touring screen shelters them perfectly, others say that it just creates turbulence around their heads. Looking at you sat on the bike, I think your upper body is long enough that your helmet is going to end up in the turbulent zone behind the screen. If that's the case, a screen extender would probably calm things down a bit. I am of a similar shape to you really. I seem to be taller in the body than my leg length would suggest, so I always end up finding OEM screens to be pretty useless. I'm not really sure what body shape or size motorcycle aerodynamicists design their screens for but it has NEVER been compatible with mine. Actually I think it's rare that ANYBODY praises an OEM screen, hence why companies like GIVI etc. continue to sell so many screens to disappointed punters. Anyway, enough ranting, crap OEM screens are one of my pet hates. I think it sucks that you have to spend 150 quid just to get the bike how the manufacturer intended it to be, just because you are not the weird shape or size they expect their customers to be. A nice long review with some lovely footage and photography. Went about hour south down coast, Meteor going like a dream. Took the main dual carriageway, so held a steady 60, with ease. There was a lovely charity meet at Arbroath harbour. I went of route to meet 4 other Enfield riders, and rode together to the meet. On way it was getting dark. Now I thought, when I bought bike, it have rubbish Indian headlight bulb, so got a halfords 5k rated one fitted. It was fine on the low beam(normal) but high beam was a total waste of time, the beam was split left and right, and nothing directly in front of you. But, was a lovely drive home via coast road. Love this bike. Be perfect if lowered an inch all round.for me with short leggies

No one does it better when it comes to moto reviews! Also beautiful filmography and editing. You take it to the next level! Iv'e got a few too many bikes and would like to get down to just one and perhaps my scooter too. Scooter are so handy for errands. I currently have a bike with a belt drive and love that feature. But the Meteor comes with a center stand which will make chain maintenance bearable. This is a feature not mentioned but for those seniors subscribers it is important. Cheers from the States.

Great post, I am finally convinced, I'm getting a new 350 meteor "Stellar" as it has the only colour I like "Dark Blue Metallic" same colour as my previous HD 883 iron, what a bargain at £3299, have been riding 45 years and now is the time... Tail tidy and rear seat removal will be enough to give it the sportster look and feel I am looking for, at literally a third of the price.

I bought a Meteor 4 weeks ago and riding it from Dieppe to the Algarve and back. My mods when I get back to UK: add a screen extender for touring, take the touring seat off and put the original back on, change the mirrors to touring style,add engine crash bar with soft covers to keep the rain and water off of your feet and legs. I've had to ride for 3 days in monsoon rain conditions and the only thing that failed was my waterproof riding clothes, useless in monsoon conditions 😂😂. Thats the sign if a great bike when you want to keep going out and looking at it, I view mine just about every day but 48hrs without riding and I totally miss it 😢😢

Fantastic video. Definitely like the looks of the meteor. Appreciate the size mention as I’m 5’7” And worry about seat height. The only problem for me…regardless of the legalities, that lane splitting was causing me to have a panic attack! Yikes! But, you made it to the end of the video still in one piece. Thank you!

Ha, the camera makes it look tighter than what it really is. Many countries won't allow lane splitting but I'm glad they allow it here or I would never get anywhere!

@@exeterrider glad it’s not as dicey as it looks. Here in the states, it varies by state and some states allow local communities to have different rules on that (from what I’ve heard). In stop and go traffic, even where splitting is not allowed, I do recommend stopping between cars and not behind one…in case the biker stops and the next car behind him goes….stay safe out there. My father told me when I started driving to assume all the other drivers were recent asylum escapees. That way, you stay pleasantly surprised….🤗

Another first rate review, you just have to love the Meteor. We did a 600 mile tour of Scotland in June, two up plus luggage and the bike still touched 70 on the motorway. Comfy too, my wife prefers the back seat to the Triumph Street Twin. Just a couple of points, the rear mudguard is actually metal, plus you didn't mention the centre stand which comes as standard; handy for a bit of chain maintenance. You won't want to be taking it back, the things are that addictive.

Thanks for coming along again, The mudguards on mine are plastic. The rear seat is superb, My boys always like riding on the Meteor as much as I do. Superb bikefor 2 up riding! On the first take of the workaround I mention the centre stand but when I got home the whole video had beeping noise on the audio so I have to do it all over again, I was so hacked off I forgot to mention it but it's an important point for sure. I have owned my meteor for about 18 months. The bike is my daily ride for commuting and solo local rides and is perfect for that . I have used it on a motorway but with the top speed of 75ish it isn't the bikes natural environment. The tripper is nice to have but has a couple of issues the clock on it gains about 8 minutes a month and if your phone loses signal the tripper crashes and you need to reset it . This means you have to stop and turn the bike off and on which isn't always convenient. Other than that the only mod I have made is I have replaced the gear lever piviot bolt for one you can get off ebay to remove the slop in the gear change (you don't need to do the linkage) . I am very happy with the bike and most probably be keeping it for some time.

I might just mention the rear mudguard is metal I think and only the front is actually plastic, I think it has such a good paint job it gives the impression of being plastic. Great review as usual. Good luck with your traffic restricting codswallop, so far the infection has not spread to the Gold Coast in Australia Yet! I’ve got the exact same bike. I passed my test in July and really like it. I’m tempted to upgrade to something a bit quicker but I probably wouldn’t ride any faster, so will probably a tick with it for the spring and look again

Good reviews of the meteor 350 ER. It’s one of those bikes that are perhaps looked at by some as too small, but I think they still have credibility. The cruiser style is well suited to that lovely 350. In some ways it makes more sense than the super meteor and other wanna be cruisers. Good work ER. (and son)

Hi Exeter Rider, that was a very good review of the RE Meteor 350 and exactly matches my experience with it. Unfortunately I had to sell it for health reasons, Garry from Economical Rides mentioned it in a video. I get on much better with my BMW F650GS Twin as the handlebars are positioned closer to the seat, which doesn't get on my neck as much. Good review, but dose it have a heal toe shifter, could you give the millage in KM per liter or liters per 100, In gallons can be confusing as there is a imperial and a US gallon, I was mostly using liters per 100 km but am thinking that Km per liters would be much easer when trying to see how many Km you get out of a tank of gas, Ware I ride mostly there very few gas stations so it is one thing I am looking at when thinking about what bike to get next. The other thing can you get a top box and side boxes for these bikes. I had the Royal Enfield 500 and had the army stile hard bags on it, and would go every where with it. Always nice to be able to carry some rain gear, and a few tools. I love the look of the Royal Enfield and do wish they would come out with the 500 cc single. loved that bike and put the kick start back on, a great way to start the ride is by kick starting the bike. Use to love the kick start competitions where you line up ten feet in front of the bikes and on go run and kick start the bike. Bring back some of the good old days. I bough a Honda Trail for a run about, and the heal toe shifter and kick start, sold me, and also was one reason I got the Royal Enfield 500 just like to kick start my bikes, my first bikes that is all you had. Even when they came with bough kick and electric, I still used the kick start.

Sadly I was never to good at maths so can't help you there but my guess is about 6 per 100 but i could be very wrong! The heel and toe shift was shown at the 4k picture part. I loved the 500 range, loads of character Thanks for watching

Hi, great review, going to save it to refer to my non-riding friends. Just adding my comment from the States (of which there are few). I have the Supernova in blue and I was sold before I left the dealer on the test ride. Tripper wasn't included but it couldn't be much worse than the nav in my Escape (Kuga?). I'd like to put a small tach in the open space, but no one seems to have cobbled a solution...yet. Out of the bikes I've had, the Meteor will be in my top 3. ( '81 CX500, 2004 Silver Wing and the Meteor)

Terrific review as usual, ER. Enfields have certainly come a long way since the oil dripping UK made machines of the 50's and 60's, although the Continental GT was pretty oil tight as well as being a good looking and rapid 250cc. Unfortunately the majority of their current range appear way too small for me.

Have you tried the 2 clicks on the rear shocks, that Garry did on his channel. It does make a noticeable difference. I have added the Red rooster exhaust too. Holy smoke. Did a wee video on it, taking baffle out. I also use the rear brake more often, cause it’s there and easier. 😊

Great review, Great looking bike and price. The 70mph top speed is the only thing putting me off, I would use it on motorways but with nothing in reserve to get out of sticky situations invariably caused by others is a deal breaker for me

Great looking bikes ER in fact the whole Enfield range look great and this model as you say is perfect for that run around trip , I feel my only concern if I am honest would be on the faster roads like the carriageways and motorways which for me would emphasise the low power alongside todays faster cars . It's more that it would lack that blast of power one might need in given situations to get out of trouble as they say I am sure you know what I mean . Having said that on the B roads and lanes they are the perfect bike on all levels and I would love one in my garage for that relaxed rides taking in the vistas and cakes stops😉 superb review as ever cheers 👌👍

Just bought a Meteor 350 as I'm not getting any younger (82) after stepping off my Bonneville. First impressions: Noisy, vibraty, slow (I've never pootled on a motorbike before) and a daft gear changer. Plus points: Comfortable. economical, lightish weight and handling. I miss the smoothness and acceleration of the Triumph but I suppose I'll get used to it.

You need to get some miles on it (2000 really) before it kicks in. The Triumphs are very different , it takes a while to learn how it wants to be ridden for me at least... I hope it grows on you ...let me know.

At 20bhp it needs an A2 licence yet the power weight ratio is almost the same as a 15bhp A1 bike from Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki. I suspect all of those are a bit faster and more likely to encourage always wide open throttles as opposed to the torquey 350. I wonder which one the CBT rider would be more likely to come to grief on and I don't think it would be the Meteor.

Very good point there yes... Thing is kids like Toby here want the whole sorts bike thing even if they are slow, but he still likes the Meteor.... And I think he's coming around to thinking sports bikes are uncomfortable 👍💭🍻

Having gone to a considerable effort to get an A2 licence, I wonder if a new rider might feel a little short-changed by the RE 350 range. Maybe not, but it depends on the person of course. Now, coming down the other way from much bigger bikes as I have it makes a lot more sense. I tried all three 350's back to back with my Fiancé. I preferred the "sit in" of the Meteor over the "sit on" riding position of the other bikes but chose the Classic 350 in the end for it's superior pillion provision. I'd love the Meteor 350 as a second bike though.

​@PhilipBallGarry I own a meteor 350and love the bike, but it is my second bike. If I had just passed my A2 test I wouldn't buy one as there are better options if I had just one bike . You can get a whole load of second hand A2 500 to 700 cc bikes for £4k which give you 47hp not 20. You see quite a few meteors for sale at this moment in time where people have grown out of them with less than 2000 miles on them .

I really wanted to like the Tripper Nav, but it is unreliable as a lot of people have said. In my experience it will disconnect from the phone just when you need it most and it doesn't retry. So you're stuck with the clock until you pull over, switch off and get your phone back out. Not good enough. Get a phone mount.

I've used it a few times over the period of 1.5 hours, I've found it OK, although it eats my phone battery and you still hasn't to think about it a bit on the whole of worked better than I thought it would. I take what your saying on board though 👍🍻

@@exeterrider ah yes the other issue I had with it was it thrashed my phone battery and heated up my phone so much that it closed all my apps including RE nav. I really wish it worked as it could be an elegant solution but in reality it's shite and I'm disappointed I went out of my way to get one from india and fit it myself only for it to be hit and miss.

Nice bike but needs a bit more get up and go. I'll be looking at the Triumph Scrambler 400, 40hp and lighter weight will make all the difference.

Think you might have made a boo boo with the tripper on the first left arrow, on the roundabout you went left, and the tripper re-routed, the arrow goes hollow when you are very close and then starts to fill in the arrow with red blocks, till full it then flashes to say 'turn now' on the roundabout it clearly wasn't filling or flashing 😉

Royal Enfield have gone along way and their bikes show it. Think if I ever decide on getting another bike, Royal Enfield will have to be on top of my list. Hay, maybe they will do a Himalayan or in that style with a 650cc or higher engine by then. 🤔 As that is a wish of mine.

I love mine , its NOT a starter bike , mine replaced a honda pan European 1300 and I would not go back . 150mph rockets are stupid now in no fun Britain, you can loose your licence in a day easily

Good review, obviously of a bike you are very fond of. I would be concerned about the bikes power considering it's a 350. It appeared at 70mph it was struggling with very little left, the power of this machine is akin to many of the 125's out there. Most of the other bikes in this class, like the Zonte GK 350, can hold motorway speeds with ease with plenty in reserve. The new Triumph Speed 400 has all the retro looks but also nearly 40hp. I can't really see the point in this bike, an underpowered machine with considerable vibration, no stowage, obviously built to a budget and boring. Come on RE get this bike to 30hp plus and join the 350 party!

Hi, The bike is rescrited to 70ish but it wasn't struggling. I can see why you think it may be like a 125 power but it really isnt, infact it pulls very strongly, and although its not a fast bike , it still is more than enough for nearly all roads. Power wise it takes anything in its stride and you dont have to rev it hard to get the power. It really is worth trying one but you will need an hour to adjust to it. I can see both sides of the coin here but I think its one of those bikes that has to be ridden to understand. The Meteor 650 has a lot more power but I would still have the 350, It also carrys a pillion better as well. Sometimes less is more I think : ) Thanks for you thoughts and watching the video : )

@@exeterrider the tuning parts make the throttle experience through the gears in town just that little bit nicer and add a little bit more torque. Does not affect the speed limiter though. And the stainless free flow exhaust sounds gorgeous! As for the heated Oxford grips, I’m pushing 60 so I’m feeling the cold a bit these days. My other bike is a Bullet 500! Even more jealous yet? 😝
