Have you ever hit a royal flush? Not everyone has, but in a recent cash game in Las Vegas, Rampage hit the best hand in poker during a bomb pot. The popular poker vlogger even caught the huge pot on camera!
When you are in a position where your opponents are unlikely to have a super strong hand, it might be a good time to use a small bet size. This allows you to sneak out a little extra value from weak poker hands that would fold to a big bet. Simultaneously, you give some stronger hands and bluffs a chance to raise and re-open the action.
Ethan Yau, a.k.a Rampage, is a popular KZbinr and poker player. He has over 267,000 subscribers on KZbin and has won over $2,100,000 in tournament earnings, including a $900,000 win in a December 2022 World Poker Tour (WPT) High Roller at the Wynn.
The Mandalay Bay Poker Room in Las Vegas, situated within the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, is a popular poker destination. It offers a range of poker games, daily tournaments, and cash games. With a comfortable and upscale atmosphere, professional dealers, and attentive staff, it caters to both novice and experienced players. Special promotions and events add excitement to the experience, making it a fantastic spot for poker enthusiasts to test their skills or enjoy some poker action on the Las Vegas Strip.
🔍 Pre-flop:
In this $10 bomb pot all 8 poker players go to the flop with Rampage holding AQ suited.
💸 Flop - Jd 5d 5c
With 8 players in this poker hand. The big blind decides to check prompting under the gun +2 to fire out a bet of $45 from early position. Action folds to Rampage who decides to make the call with his nut flush draw & two overcards. The big blind also wants to continue and makes the call.
💣 Turn - Kd
The turn completes the flush. The big blind checks once more but this doesn’t slow down UTG+2 who continues for a much healthier bet of $125. Rampage now has the nut flush with a draw to the ultimate royal flush! The big blind also makes the call.
🌊 River - Td
What a river card for Rampage who has now hit the best hand in poker - the royal flush! Both players check over to Rampage who, with a royal flush decides to use a small bet size of $120 to try and induce a raise from his opponents. What happens next will blow your mind, watch this poker video to find out what happens!

I am not sure I agree with the x/r all in, especially if they have a full house and you think your opponent has a flush. You won't necessarily induce them into going all in, but if my opponent is pretty aggressive, I probably wouldn't go all in. My reasoning being I want the opponent to think I am possibly bluffing and an aggressive good player like Rampage will likely shove. Now I know that Rampage is quite smart so if he didn't have a straight flush he would fold, but I have certainly seen some people shove all in to a river x/r multiple times. It might even be an exploit against maniacal opponents online. Possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen in poker was. I had A9hh Flop is 10h Jc Qh bet call Turn Kh. Bet call River Ac So I was OOP, so I wanted my opponent to think I was trying to buy the pot to push him off a chop. So I bet like 20BB, thinking he would call and I would get paid a little bit. Nope, he raised to ~100 BB. So I checked to make sure he didn't have the straight flush, he didn't, I block it. I min raise him back, thinking 95% fold 5% call. He decided to do one better than call, he went all in. So I checked again to make sure I had not miscalculated, he indeed still did not have a straight flush. I called. I was ~400 BB effective at that time, got the full double up and laughed for about 5 minutes straight. That was possibly the dumbest thing I have ever seen someone do in my entire time playing poker. This was online, not live, btw. Also, I did start screen recording at this time, in case, somehow he had the AJhh or some crazy thing like that.

Last night I had the loosest idiot at the table who punts it off nightly try to tell me he folded pocket 10's on a 9 high board to my flop bet. His reason? Because the player next to him told him he had a 10. Let's forget about the fact that kind of collusion should never happen and concentrate on the bullshit for second since I had pocket 10's myself.

My favorite game is Yahtzee. You get a Yahtzee card that has: bluff, pair, two pair, trips, straight, flush and full house. Every time you win with one of the seven types of hands you get to check it. The first person to fill their card wins the prize pool. If you win with quads, it’s wild and you can mark whatever hand you want. A straight flush gets both the straight and the flush checked off. The game creates so much action when people are close to filling the card and start chasing everything.

So this video just further highlights how horrendous the games I play in are. There is simply no denying Johnathan Little's poker prowess. He is just flat out right almost all the time. I say this to be clear that I am in no way saying Johnathan is wrong about this spot. I am saying that in my player pool the 7 through 9 of diamonds is never ever calling. Betting a sizing to get a call from a weak diamond does not exist, and deserves zero consideration. Also, no version of a boat is ever folding to any size. Johnathan is seeing this spot as a catch all sizing to get calls from diamonds and 5's and I'm seeing it as a polar spot to punish boats to the max. Weak diamonds and 5's give 0.000 action in this spot at Coconut Creek casino in Florida. Also, no boat ever would find a fold. And the most lol part is weak boats would call for all the tea in China, yet never consider a raise to a small bet.

There’s two things going through my head about this hand. First, I’ve never been a fan of the blocker-ish bet sizing when you should be going for value on the river. Personally, I see three reasonable plays with value hands. Bet half pot, full pot or over bet shove. Given the way this played out, I’d probably go with half pot myself. With the run out, just a 5 can’t call. So Rampage is going to be targeting full houses, which will pretty much call any size bet here. Maybe the weakest can consider a big lay down on the over bet, but unlikely. The second thing is what hands other than exactly KJ would the BB play this way? As for what side games I like, I think the occasional bomb pot is fine. But personally I thing the 72 game adds way more action.
@phenomta4236
@phenomta4236 8 ай бұрын
I was also trying to understand why you wouldn't want to overbet in this spot esp since it's a bomb pot... four to the flush on board so anyone with a diamond would at least think about calling a decent bet, or a full house like you had said would be calling any bet size. My only guess would be in targeting the full house you bet smaller assuming if they have it, they're re-raising

I want to jam river here, the idea of being called a bit more frequently targeting a weak five (that should fold anyway) or bad flush is not nearly as attractive as maximizing our gains when they do overvalue a flush or have a boat. Especially with rampage's image. Anyway I like bomb pots because people make too many multiway mistakes.

BB could have several hands they would play this way. AJ, any 5, maybe even KQ, KJ, etc. On the flop, they check call as they would do with any J, 5 and maybe just overcards (because people like to splash around). On the turn, the front door flush gets there, but if they hit the K they may stick around, and if they have 2 pair or trips there is enough money in the pot they may call hoping to boat up. On the river they can't beat anything, so a snap fold also makes sense.
