Almost burst into tears when this popped up, had this played at my Grandfathers funeral and the Royal Marines kindly provided a Bugler for it which was wonderful. he was the Bugler on his ship during the war and he played this every evening and he loved it.

As a former Royal Naval Signalman, one of my proudest moments was hauling down the Ensign to this tune at an official function. It still makes me want to stand to attention and salute.

Played as it should be. Always moves me more than The Last Post. And no singer warbling pointless words..

I think that's the sentiment of quite a few 'Yanks', that hear 'Sunset'. It's definitely a 'haunting' bugle call.
@konradyearwood5845 Жыл бұрын
When I was in the RN I had the privilege of working with quite a few Yanks who came over to the UK on exchange postings. They all fell in love with the Royal Marine Band and this bit of music held a special place especially when paired with the prelude hymn. Stay safe.

We had a RMB on the Carrier ILLUSTRIOUS. As well as playing at sea for the crew they played Sunset at ceremonial occasions in port such as Cocktail Parties in the hangar for local dignitaries in whichever country we were visiting. What an advert for Britain. I heard it countless times and was always tremendously moved. Thanks for this video.

The Royal Scottish Dragoon Guards are equally awesome as well. The RSDG and the Band of the Royal Marines are my favourite British military bands. I'm Canadian by the way and proud of it! God Save the Queen!

I watched glued most Sunday mornings to the band at their Chatham Parade Ground. I know why I play their music regularly whilst writing. Now aged 77, I've just discovered my RM Sergeant PTI Grand father was one of The Live Bait Squadron. This will be the BEST screenplay I've ever written. It's been there all along for decades. It'sll be dedicated to the finest infantry men anywhere. Thank You.

Yes, Britain should certainly be proud of its armed forces; but what a pity that the English language is so sadly shamed by writing something such as 'in a class of there own'. The possessive pronoun in English is THEIR.
