MIRV = Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicle. So one missile that has 10 MIRVS means you launch one missile and it’s got 10 warheads on it. So you can pick 10 different targets and hit all of them with one missile

I mean the easiest layman terms of defining an MIRV is "warhead" capable of hitting their own separate designated target. It's a waste to shoot one warhead per ICBM/SLBM, but at the same time let's not get too crazy. If we didn't know better, I wouldn't be surprised if there was ever a 500 MIRV hauling ICBM in some alternate universe.

RS-28 Sarmat is the number one in this category. Three-stage Russian silo-based, liquid-fueled, HGV-capable and FOBS-capable super-heavy intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) produced by the Makeyev Rocket Design Bureau. It is intended to replace the Soviet R-36M ICBM in Russia's arsenal. The Sarmat is one of six new Russian strategic weapons unveiled by Russian president Vladimir Putin on 1 March 2018. The RS-28 Sarmat made its first test flight on 20 April 2022. The missile officially entered combat service in September 2023, as the world's longest range and most powerful extant ICBM system. Mass 208.1 tonnes Length 35.5 m Warhead Thermonuclear Avangard Hypersonic Glide Vehicles 10 MIRV, 16 combined with HGVs and lighter warheads Operational range 18,000 kilometres (11,000 mi) 35,000 km sub-orbital flight with FOBS technology (artificially limited by Russia in accordance with Outer Space Treaty)

Russian largest is the Sarmat (Satan II icbm) launched from the mobile launch vehicles and its main method for deployment of their Nuclear weapons. I dont think this video is very accurate to be honest. I always presumed it was the range that determined it a icbm, as in it had unlimited range and can travel to any point on earth from its launch location by way of releasing mlrv(warheads). Unlike srbm stayed within the atmosphere and needed to burn fuel all the way to target and was just a single munition in itsself as supposed to having multiple.

I'm on my missus account, for clarity. I served in the British Military for a little over 10 years, joined in 97. I saw several theatres of war, was in some pretty tasty contacts and of course, we were put in too some situations, that made you think afterwards ''That was pretty hairy, that could have been so bad''. Now i always knew while serving that some random device could pop off and kill me, take off limbs. You knew in certain areas, dirty bombs could be a possibility and there has always been the threat of Nuclear attack. Though, while i served, the Nuclear threat was very low.... There is always a 'threat' while Nukes are in existence. But nothing made me feel the way i did the other day.... never seen anything that made me genuinely say ''Oh s##t''. There was a documentary about Nuclear war and where would the enemy target within the UK. They mentioned the Castle Bravo test, a test that went spectacularly right (in a frightening way), that upon testing the blast, the island it was detonated on, ceased to be, just vaporised.... all that's left of it is a crater in the ocean. Now Russia's Satan II missile (aptly named), has 10 warheads per single missile. Upon nearing it's target, the tip comes off, and 10 smaller warheads detonate above or ground level, spreading out as far as programmed. They said if just 3 Satan Missiles were fired, with 10 warheads in each..... 30 warheads, with the highest yield they have.... The United Kingdom would simply cease to exist. It would be totally uninhabitable, well what's left of it.... because most of the United Kingdom would be literally blown too pieces. Think about that..... Such firepower exists that just 3 well placed missiles detonated across the UK would wipe out around 66 million people. If that doesn't pucker up your butt hole, nothing will.

Each MIRV can be a decoy or an active warhead. US ICBMs and SLBMs normally have several decoys to saturate target air defenses. The nuclear arms reduction treaties limit the total number of warheads that can be deployed to the missiles at any given time, so the decoys are very useful.

Honestly if we talk about ICBM or SLBM, all of them can reach anywhere on the world no matter what maximum range they have. It's just the matter of how fast they can carry the warhead into positions. Fo accuracy it's relevant, you don't need a pin point accuracy when you carry a nuclsar war head with hundreds if not thousands of kilo tons impact to surrounding target. I guess moat of this missile will be used to create EMP impact to electrical infrastructure throughout the country which that itself more destructive than just blowing up a city

Not on this Earth. Earth's circumference is ~25000 miles so that means some place/city/country on completely opposite side of the earth is ~12500 miles away from you. So if your ICBM's range is 8000 miles, it's not gonna reach that point/city/country which is called antipode.

First of, SLBMs are not ICBMs. The difference literally comes down to where they're launched from. You can't practically fit and launch an ICBM from a submarine. The inclusion of SLBMs in this triggers me slightly as at this point you might as well include conventionally dropped nuclear bombs as well. This is like when people call an RPG a "Missile Launcher". Missiles are rockets with controllability; in which an RPG round fails to be. Second, size only plays a part up to a certain point. To put into perspective, the old NASA Jupiter Rockets (as in going into orbit rockets) are basically what the Minuteman ICBMs are. However the reason why size only matters so much is that the earth is only so big before you've already able to reach everywhere on it. So at that point, bigger just means bigger pay load. Otherwise normally bigger means further and faster. Also note that anything, should it ever be able to, that reaches just a bit over 20,000km range will become the apex of launch distance. That's about the circumferial radius of the planet (a little over 40,000 km for the full circumference.) If you can reach half way around the planet, you can reach anywhere on the surface of the planet. You also need to consider technological and logistical differences between nations. The USA has their nuclear triad of ICBM's, SLBM's, and air dropped nuclear ordinance. China and Russia don't quite have that big of plan. They want to be able to launch theirs from anywhere they want on their native soil, but also not have them stuck in one location vulnerable to be taken out all at once. I'm sure to them the US is a clown show with our main ICBM silos known to the world in being in the middle of the nation. But we have the contingency of FAFO. They can f*ck around all they want and the air dropped nuclear ordinance and SLBM's will let them find out the hard way. Also, great Prog-Rock band name; "3 by China on Here."

The benefit of a sub launched icbm is the enemy doesn't know where they are, so they can't attack them first and if your country is invaded, they can't take the missile silo's over with ground troops. In the case of France who only has sub launched icbms. If Russia started a large war in Europe and managed to take over France, the French President could order his subs to go to the USA to work with and operate out of US military bases.

I worked on the so called “Star Wars” research and testing for many years, officially known as “H.O.E.” (Homing Overlay Experiment”. This was overseas (not in the USA) aka USAKA. This was of course ultra top secret. So I can tell you, there is a great deal of info you aren’t getting in this video, just the basics. Generally, the largest capacity missiles can carry up to 12 nuclear warheads, aka MIRV’s. They may all be real or some fake. The purpose of the fake warheads was in hopes they could fool ABM’s from the USA to be wasted on taking out the fake warheads and allowing more of the real ones to reach their targets. The only problem being that American ABM’s can determine fake warheads from real ones and ignore the fake ones, destroying the real ones. I have seen at times in the media stating this project was not successful. I don’t know where that lie originated, but it is exactly that, a lie. It was definitely successful, I was there, I watched it happen, and have photos to prove it. Look at my icon photo for example. The technology of these missiles is extremely advanced in the USA. The Russians constantly tried spying on us with their newest spy ship of the time dubbed “Brand X”. I could tell you exactly how long it would take for a Minuteman ICBM to reach Russia given the launch point and target location. Let’s just say, not long. One thing worth noting in the video. Not the range, note the weight difference between the USA Minuteman and all the others, what does that tell you? :)) In some cases, the Minuteman weighs over 50% less. Which missile do you think is fastest? Nuclear war would be catastrophic World wide, it’s human insanity at its best.

Each missile on this list was described by Type: ICBM = intercontinental ballistic missile (land based), SLBM = submarine launched ballistic missile Keep in mind that the claimed ranges are the publicly stated ranges. Their true ranges are secret. Improving the accuracy of the warheads allows a lower yield warhead to accomplish the same mission against hardened targets, like land based ICBM silos. Lower yield warheads can be made smaller in size and weight. Therefore, each ICBM or SLBM could carry more multiple independent re-entry vehicles (MIRVs) or have longer range as the payload would be lesser in weight. The Trident II was the first SLBM that accurate enough to be able to target ICBMs in their silos. FYI, the UK Royal Navy uses American Trident II D-5 missiles on its Vanguard class nuclear powered ballistic missile submarines and the upcoming Dreadnought class nuclear powered ballistic missile submarines. The US Navy carries them on its Ohio class nuclear powered ballistic missile submarines and its successor, the Columbia class nuclear powered ballistic missile submarines.

Speaking of missiles, in your SU-57 video comments, you asked a suggestive question about Russia being 5-10 years ahead of the USA in missile technology.😂 Let me school you a little on Russian technological capabilities. Do you know which nation developed the very first IR, heat-seeking missile, and the first to deploy it in air combat? That's right, the US! The "Sidewinder" missile was developed by the USA, back in the 1950s! It was first used in air-to-air combat as part of a highly secret effort called "Operation Black Magic" when the US Navy modified Taiwanese F-86 Sabers to carry the missile during the second Taiwan crisis in 1958. The "Sidewinder" proved highly successful when used by the Taiwanese fighters against communist China's MIG-17s. During an air-to-air battle, a Taiwanese F-86 Saber fired and struck a Chinese MIG-17 but the missile failed to detonate. The MIG limped home with the Sidewinder embedded in its fuselage and the PLA rushed the unexploded Sidewinder to the Soviet Union for examination. According to Soviet engineer Gennadiy Sokolovskiy, "The Sidewinder missile was to us a university offering a course in missile construction technology which has upgraded our engineering education and updated our approach to the production of future missiles." The Soviet engineers copied the missile’s infrared tracking, in-flight steering, and stability mechanisms and created their self-guided missile called the Vympel K-13 (NATO codename AA-2 Atoll). The K-13 entered service in 1960, only two years after the Chinese had captured the undetonated Sidewinder missile. "The missile designs were also provided to China in return for their help in acquiring it, based on which they also developed their own PL-2 missile, officially operational in 1967." Russia and China consistently steal technologies from the west. It's the only way they can compete. Also, you need to do a better job vetting your source material instead of grabbing videos from any fly-by-night channel. That way, you'll actually learn more facts instead of propaganda.😉 Now, no more of this nonsense about Russia (or China) being ahead of the U.S. in missile technology, or I'll give you a historical thrashing young man!😆😉 Peace to you.🕊 BTW "MIRV" = Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicles (or warheads).

This was a really poor video to react to. Almost all are able to hit anywhere so 'range' is pretty dumb as they go suborbital. Treaties had decreased land based from using MIRVs. However, Russia has broke the them by developing new delivery systems and China wasn't a signatory so freely developed. Now the US is replacing the Minuteman.

Trident 2 is obsolete . Ballistic and doesn’t manoeuvre . Predictable path . Advanced air defence can shoot it down . Sarmat ( Russian ) range 18,000 kms . New technology .hypersonic . Unstoppable That clip is old Ballistic missiles only reach hypersonic speed “ outside “ of the atmosphere. Hypersonic like Sarmat and zircon reach that speed “ within” the atmosphere and hit target at full speed , hence the huge kinetic energy they create on impact which has been measured . There is no drag as some misinformed people think Biden admitted that American has no defence against hypersonic missiles . They have never been shot down though there was an unverified claim one had . Which has since been debunked

All ballistic missile go hypersonic during reentry all of them even the V-2 from the Second World War. The US is already developing weapons to intercept and destroy hypersonic glide vehicles namely “Glide Breaker”, but Patriot can already intercept these hypersonic missiles in their final moments of flight where due to aerodynamic limitations the missile has to travel in a straight predictable trajectory to hit the target. Hypersonic glide vehicles are only able to maneuver the way they do in the upper atmosphere, they then have to slow down as they get closer to the target as the stresses of drag and heat would destroy the missile if they went faster than Mach 4-5 in low atmosphere.

@@chugachuga9242 True hypersonic missiles have manoeuvre and are hypersonic “ within “ the atmosphere. Zircon is a hypersonic cruise missile for instance , never leaves the atmosphere . America has no such missiles Patriot never shot down a hypersonic missile. Data showing the alleged downing not released seeing that it never happened I have heard an explanation of how hypersonic glide missiles work . There is no drag it hits target at maximum speed , hence the kinetic energy . If hypersonic missiles work the way you say there would be no advantage in having them

@@chugachuga9242 So hypersonic missiles are pointless seeing that 50 year old ballistic missiles are superior ? So why is America trying to produce one ? That makes no sense. All of your points are at odds with the physics True hypersonic missiles manoeuvre and reach speed “ within “ the atmosphere. Ballistic missiles cannot travel at hypersonic speed within the atmosphere or manoeuvre The kinetic energy when a hypersonic missile hits target is massive indicating it doesn’t slow down as it approaches target as some claim
