I don't think I'll ever understand why ex-servicemen and women aren't valued and supported more than they are, and why well funded mental health support for these guys isn't there in spades from day 1. Also, these are surely the sorts of people - with a long list of the most desirable traits - that most businesses would want as part of their team. We should see the incredible value in not only what they've done, but also what they can bring, build and create post-service. Ben's contribution to countless lives could be absolutely huge, and is already proving to be. There's not enough hats to take off to guys like him, an absolute credit to his country. I hope he gets the support he needs and I hope he can continue his hugely positive impact on people in and outside the armed forces. Huge credit to you guys for putting this together and getting his story out there.

@@adriantyler6911 thank you. Still feel the same. These people should be who the young look up to, instead of social media moral and personality vacuums...

@@ioanparry My 16 year old son signed up 2 years ago and went to AFC Harrogate, the only facility of it's kind in the world for under 18's. He's 18 now and in it, hook, line and sinker, I'm so proud! Particularly that he is not in that ....as you say 'Social media moral and personality vacuums...' I still worry about him though, not only in his job, but after.........But I'll always be here for him whatever happens

A lot of young people in particular are quite naïve regarding the forces, usually the rainbows and bunny rabbits crowd that think the world should just be nice and that because no one has the right to hurt anyone else that it is somehow a magical shield and therefore we don't need soldiers. A lot also just see them as state sanctioned killers that literally just kill.... Join to kill.... Enjoy killing etc. Some read about bad things soldiers have done and also apply in large strokes which is a bit like how racism perpetuates really i.e. x skin tone did this to me therefore they're all bad. Not all militaries are brilliant, a lot are fucking savages but most professional modern militaries like the UK are pretty good. In a lot of countries people are scared when they see military personnel.

I lost Andy, he was formerly in the paras in Ireland during the troubles. He lost his 2 best mates to an IED just metres in front of him. This along with many other events left him with serious complex PTSD and substance abuse problems, after leaving the paras as a young lad. Andy was the farther I never had, he took me in as his own when I was young. I've travelled with him and his wife for years and we have so so many great memories. After some time Andy slowly has been able to pull himself out of the hole he was thrown into after the loss and pain. Several years ago he was diagnosed with Myeloma. This utterly destroyed me and I will carry his legacy, he will be remembered, I will make sure my kids and my kids kids know who he is.
