This is not the way to decide defence spending. I go to the supermarket with a list of what I need and try to get it at the least cost. I do not go in with a fixed percentage of a week's wage then buy stuff until I run out of money. Work out what we want the military to do. Decide what equipment they need to do that. Then work out the cheapest way to get that equipment. Then we can let the accountants work out what percentage that is of GNP.
