Is there a plan how to spot, report - and to be protected from such unfortunate recruitment efforts including retaliation, within the Commonwealth? Especially developing nations who are indebted to China, might be at risk. Hope for tight collaboration and much more awareness😌

Most of those countries are trapped by Western debts, not Chinese debts. Check the percentage of loans, the majority of the loans are owned by the west with no way out ! At least the Chinese are building some useful infrastructures.

Either he told politicians this when he was in office and they ignored him or he did not make the case strongly enough. I suspect the sinophile politicians, many of them on the take from CCP, would have felt the issue not worth their attention and not worth defending us. Successive Tory MPs have been paid by the CCP to promote its interests and Westminster seemed to think that was OK.

George Galloway (elected MP and leader of the Workers Party of Britain) is one of them. He held a meeting with Ambassador Zheng where he praised the CCP's achievements. He's also done articles for CGTN, along with a number of interviews with wumao/little pink youtube channels.

Spying isn't the same as influencing and threatening. We're also talking about a government that routinely uses the shroud of "foreign forces" as a cover for its own incompetence. In short, whenever the party screws up they place the blame on "foreign forces" rather than owning up to the mistake.
@skullsaintdead

Why caused you to make such an inane comparison? Everyone spies, but China is a totalitarian, one-party (now one-man) regime. Do you really think they're similar (noting that if you were in China, you would not even be able to make this comment)?

It is worth remembering George Osborne tried very hard to get President Xi to invest in our latest nuclear energy expansion. We were also investing, buying, communications tech . All this while Mr Inkster was approaching retirement. Chinese are to be regarded through our our US cousin's relationship. US have always regarded the Chinese as their most favoured friend. We must stand and watch. And engage with China.

Some people have been brainwashed quite a lot.... so then they literally assume that we have everything that they have. But they are not in the "inner circles" of their own government or militaries etc. Some things which we have in the UK is sold to us via China... (And then some of it, they are going to know who it is... and then they try to and get those people into trouble.. and cause issues within their own boundaries... and therefore, set a trap for their own people, to gain either ... powers... or prestige, or whatever. I kind of know this was happening, but I didn't know that the entire country is in a "single Imperial structures".... ) It would've have been better when they were basically not ever joined the WTO or even the UN. Even though Human Rights Act says that.. it was wrong.. we have created a 100 year of... I dunno... lives created under 100 years, are destroying the histories of the past 3000 years...

It’s completely understandable that the Chinese would see the need to acquire as much information as possible especially now considering that in recent years western nations have openly declared war on China and declared their determination to destroy what they have achieved economically. Here we have contributors to media outlets still living in the past instead of coming to terms with the new reality where the west have lost their once commanding position on the world stage (largely due to their own arrogant and foolish foreign policies) and change their policies if they are not going continue losing influence to the detriment of all western interests.
