You guys just needed to dig down right there in front of the wall. That hole you cleared out early on that the dog laid in would have been a great starting point. Next time find a spot just like that and continue to expand the hole side to side right there at the base of the wall. The top 4 feet or so is really overburden and not very opal rich. And you have to put in the back breaking effort to get your money's worth in return. Use the larger pick to break chunks off and use the smaller tools for breaking it up. Pay attention for wood while digging and slow down when you find something. Use a screwdriver or chisel to excavate any opal you find in the ground so you don't break it up too much. ✌️ Thanks for sharing your adventure, I was rooting for you guys the entire time. I know all you needed was one good find to totally change your day. If the digging is too difficult, use a quarter inch classifier screen and shift tailings. I've found amazing things in the 30 year old tailings even. You just have to soft a lot of dirt. Super easy too, unless the wind is blowing. 😅 Check out my videos if you want to see my finds. Have a blessed day. ✌️
