The mileage on the paper that says 42 is a typo either on my part whenever I filled out the paperwork or their part probably More on my part It's 242k obviously If you've been following the journey then you realize that it is a typo and you can't roll the odometer back on the car which I've been showing every single video.... it's the same vehicle so there's no way that I can skew that... it was literally a typo If you have any questions on what is being done with the oil testing or if you have any questions on any of this at all you need to ask right here in this pin post because I'm not going to be answering the same question 10 different times because people don't read the comments

I was definitely looking forward to the Royal Purple analysis. I am glad to see that it performed so well. My former employer is a very opinionated fellow. We were discussing different oils and when I asked his opinion of Royal Purple he said it was garbage. When I told him that I ran Castrol GTX for years that was garbage too. He stocks Amsoil, Amalie, Wolf's Head, Motul, Penzoil, and Lucas. The budget line of oil is Parts Master. Wolf's Head (made by Amalie) was our biggest seller. As long as you follow a strict OCI I don't think you can go wrong with any of the motor oils or quality filters on the market today. Thankyou for conducting these tests.

I just heard a statistic that only 25% of American car owners properly maintain their vehicles. I heard it on The car doctor Q&A show/podcast. It's nice to see these scientific results you display. I maintain four 20 plus year old Toyota cars. All stop and go driving. I just buy bulk entry level oil filters and each of my adult kids buys their jug (usually Super tech) of 5w30 and I change their oil every 3,000 miles. My employer has an oil recycling container at work. Nice channel Boss Me.

I suspect that the people who swear that their vehicle has only been serviced with XXXX brand oil and that they've never had any problems are far more likely to really have reliable, long-lasting vehicles than the 75% of drivers who never bother with any kind of maintenance until the car won't run any more. Maybe some oil is better than others, but anybody who cares enough to have a sense of loyalty to any oil brand probably cares enough to be actually changing it fairly regularly, and engines are better off with an oil pan full of clean, regularly changed cheap no-name stuff that barely meets the specifications instead of some worn-out super-expensive ultra-premium stuff that has spent way too many miles and years of collecting contaminants.

I’ve used both Pennzoil Ultra and Royal Purple on my 2007 4.7 Toyota Tundra. At 105,000 miles, I replaced the valve cover gaskets. Engine was very clean, slight varnish on the surface. It’s important to drive any vehicle at highway speeds every few weeks. Eventually, I switched to full synthetic high mileage Pennzoil for the additional wear and leak package. I will use the same synthetic engine oils on my revelry acquired 2019 5.7 liter Tundra.

We use all royal purple oil in our fleet of over 82 trucks at work, gas and diesel. Service intervals range from 5000-10,000 miles with premium filters installed and oil samples have always come back with good results and never anything bad. Never found traces of sludge or varnish in the pans or valve covers either. Engines run smoother and seem to hold better oil pressure then say with factory oil or conventional. Always get a laugh out of the “bulk” oil salesman’s when they try to tell me how much better their oil is and XYZ until I ask them for a spec sheet on their oil and that I currently run R.P. then they suddenly are not so proud of their oil. Yes it it expensive oil and not for everyone but when you can benefit off of longer service intervals, longer engine life, and less fleet downtime, it saves drastically!

I've been using Pennzoil Platinum in my 07 F150 4.2 V6 for 95% percent of my oil changes. Used RP 2 times but went back to Pennzoil. Last summer I used Castrol Edge and getting ready to use it again today. My truck only has 67,000 miles so I just change every 6 months because I don't drive it a lot. (I'm a truck driver so it only sees a trip to work then a trip home very week ) But on the other hand the same oil for my wifes 05' Toyota and she has 120000 on it. But to me my truck had a little more valve chatter on acceleration using RP but her Toyota I couldn't tell any difference. But after seeing your report from Blackstone I may try RP again in 6 months. I bought a used Lexus RX330, and I put Royal Purple in. Oil got incredibly dirty, the first time, with just 1,000 kilometers on the fresh oil. Cleaner oil came out with the next oil change. Royal Purple is good for cleaning slundge from vehicle engines that have been abused. I am going to try Royal Purple on ever used vehicle that buy now. After just 1,000 kilometers the oil can be horrible dirty if the vehicle lived an abused life. Royal Purple showed me my Lexus RX330 had not been taken care of in the maintenance department. I got 2 liter per 100 kilometer improvement just by cleaning the air flow meter between the air box and throttle body with sensor cleaner.

I recently switched and tried Royal Purple for the first time in my truck which is an 06 F-150 with the 5-4 engine. I decided to step up one from the regular Royal Purple you find off the shelf and I used Royal Purple HPS 5w 30. The reason why I chose Royal Purple HPS was according to Royal Purple the Royal Purple HPS oil is not restricted by the API licensing which gives Royal Purple more freedom to make a better performance-oriented oil. Royal Purple HPS has a much higher zinc and phosphorus content with an overall much stronger additive package compared to the Royal Purple you find off-the-shelf that is API licensed. If your vehicle is still under warranty you should use the Royal Purple that is API licensed If not Royal Purple HPS is a really good oil. I've been very satisfied with it I'm actually switching from Pennzoil Ultra Platinum to that oil there's not really a big price difference between the two ether.

I had to go buy some oil treatment to keep the oil light off. Second time I did the oil change. I made sure truck was level and drained completely. I added half bottle of MMo and rest was RP. No light came on and runs so much smoother now. I believe maybe truck wasn't level first time. And I mixed a little old oil with new. Maybe that was why oil light came on first time I switched to RP. Nevertheless. No issues since. This time I ordered RP oil filter as well. So far so good. I'm sold on RP even more now after this video.

The increase in viscosity may be from oxidation. Typically you see oils shear out of grade as and stabilize within a certain viscosity range. The viscosity seems rather steady throughout multiple samples and then climbs. Hard to say if the oil started higher in the viscosity range or if it oxidized to that point without a virgin oil sample. From the samples in front of me I would definitely use Pennzoil PU. The increase in sodium over what the remainder of the tests have been is possibly from an additive or engine coolant. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.

This just popped up on my suggestions page. But I'm aware it's two years old. So having said all that. I've been running RP in my truck ever since I got it. A 1997 F-150 4x4 4.6L 2 valve (VIN 6) with just over 325K on the lower rotating assembly and about 150K on the heads (For those that don't know. It's an OHC (Overhead Cam) engine.). So I'm not at all surprised by this lab report. But at far as "real world" daily use. The RP really preforms. Doesn't matter if I'm in town doing stop and go driving, off-roading during hunting season, doing some mild rock (more like a really rough ditch) crawling, or having some fun at an off-road park or local mud "puddle". To date RP hasn't let me down. But once it starts heading off-road I generally won't run the engine oil anywhere near 5K. Now that might change with the addition of another filter and cooler. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm going to add a remote duel filter system the uses two FL1A (or a PH8 in Fram). Although I'll be running WIX filters, I don't have there P#'s memorized yet. And of course the engine oil cooler, as stated above. But anyway, I know I'm just a nobody. But I highly recommend RP to anyone.

I just put royal purple high mileage in my 03 Cartier with 145k miles, switched over from conventional and immediately ran smooth and quiet. I put penzoil platinum ultra high milage in my 06 Signiture with 90k miles and it runs amazing as well. Thanks for the help in narrowing the choices down!

I run amsoil XL since it’s the only thing I can find in a full synthetic 10w40 that isn’t Mobil 1 or some Dino oil and I can tell you right now rich the Amsoil XL 10w40 made my 32 year old bmw motor much quieter after 5000 miles then when I was using Mobil 1. That motor also had a headgasket that was just starting to leak, a bent valve and a flat cam which i found out after I started using amsoil XL and I’m happy I used it. My oil consumption went down to only using less then a quart between oil changes due to an oil leak where before I was using 2-2.5 quarts between oil changes with Mobil 1 and using Lucas oil stabilizer. It burned quicker without the stabilizer.

PUP destroyed Purple in the cold flow test on Project Farm, meaning it starts lubricating the engine faster. In fact only Amsoil was better, barely beating Pennzoil platinum ultra. For the money PUP is the best.

Hey Boss, if you redo the Mobile oil. Be sure to shake it up really good to get the additive package mixed up. I noticed the leftover stuff in the container at the bottom and been shaking the last few quarts out of the 5qt jug.

I run mostly Pennzoil Platinum in my cars, and do that. Platinum seems to have a little additive fallout that needs mixed up again. Driving a 2010 Chrysler Sebring 2.4L with 223k on it and still running just fine.

I admit that I was skeptical about RP at first also. I don't like to follow the hype. Ever since I made the switch to RP for my HEMI , I've never looked back. I drive that thing hard, plus run it down the strip when I can. It keeps that engine running smooth & purring like a kitten! I've actually switched to their HPS line, & immediately noticed that the engine revs faster & smoother than before. Not sure how it holds up in cooler climates though, as I'm in AZ where temps rarely drop below freezing.

I tried to go 10,000 miles on mobile one. I heard valve chatter at 7300 and the filter was changed at 4,000 miles. A friend got me on the purple stuff and during a difficult Financial time I had no choice but to go 10,300 miles on Royal Purple. I change the filter at 5000 miles and the oil looked dirty but I never heard valve chatter even at 10,000 miles. My work truck does a lot of idling and hard-driving but that was not in the middle of summer here in AZ.

PP was tested on fleets of panther taxis in Las Vegas. One they let go for 30K, and bought the taxi to do a teardown analysis on it. Engine was still in very good shape. There may be some old videos about it. They (the company) really went into depth about it, no compromises, I was sold. You can't go wrong. RP Is very good too, but pricey, you can't go wrong with either.

It would be good to compare the cSt viscosity those oils start at - all manufacturers blend their oils to within the spec shown here, but some, like Mobil, blend it on the lower end of the scale when new - i like the 'thicker' stuff when new within the range, it seems to be quieter and wear better, this parts just physics. The Gas Truck is i think right about 11.7 when new, so be interesting to see what it sheers down to in your engine.
