There is only one Royal Scots, and that was the First of Foot, not the Royal Regiment of Scotland. If the RRS wants to have its own identity, don’t trade on the name of an antecedent regiment who was treated like rubbish after centuries of service.

Only got yourselves to blame. Poor voting choices usually end up with the poor treatment of those who made them.

@MG The army just like the other services like police and etc have been rigged to be much harder to join in recent years along with a smaller and less interested pool to recruit from. If they cut the process down to under 3 months and lowered the standard back to what it was the 70s they'd have tons of people coming in but even in the early 2010s they were taking 12 months average to get perfectly normal blokes from application to in the door. There's not any less scottish people now there's just less young scottish people, that's the only current problem in civvie street related to the numbers in the army
@alexweatherburn43903 жыл бұрын
@@lordracula2461 It’s actually easier to join the military now as the standards have been lowered to attract more recruits, women can now join the Infantry, Paras and Marines as it’s been made easier to pass the fitness tests. Most Infantry Regiments are well below strength, it’s not just the fault of our politicians for axing our great Regiments because a lot of our young don’t want to join up, I would rather see the return of our great Regiments and National Service but it’s not going to happen unfortunately.

@@lordracula2461 you have no idea what you are talking about , the army is much easier to join now than it has ever been, back in the 80s more people joined the army because of high unemployment and we were all Scottish in the Royal Scots back then and I should know because I am one of them, it is full of wimps, foreigners and cry babies now.

@@lordracula2461 Absolutely ridiculous how they recruit nowadays 🙄 In the 80s it was interview with Sgt, medical then Redford Bks for us jocks. BFT & a few sit ups & other tests. Next morning interview with Officer & you recieved your paperwork & warrants from a,Sgt downstairs 😅 Couple of weeks later I was on a train to Woolwich London. I nearly forgot before Redford Bks you did the Queen's Oath in Glasgow but that was it. Basically no messing around They soon found out who was suitable in Basic training

@@callummacey983 Never say never. In Canada three regiments: The North Nova Scotia Highlanders, The Cape Breton Highlanders, and The Pictou Highlanders were amalgamated in 1954 and rather surprisingly 2011 the second battalion reverted to being The Cape Breton Highlanders. All it takes is for the pendulum to swing the other way (which can take decades). However, the pendulum will never swing if people don’t press the issue. Of course no one single comment in social media is going to change anything, just like a single drop of water won’t breach a dam. But if there are no comments then the government bean counters will have no cause for remorse for their egregious actions.

The traditions of the antecedent regiments are theoretically carried on by the battalions, but it’s mostly down to the Pipes and Drums now, actually part of the Pipe Majors duties.
