Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Prince Consort were wed in Holmens Church, Copenhagen, in 1967. The wedding festivities were held at Fredensborg Palace.

The beautiful gown has the classic, simple lines of a 1960s wedding dress. My sister was married in the late sixties in a mail order dress that looked much the same as this gown. That is by no means a criticism. I think it is much more beautiful that the over-the-top gowns of today.

@@fredrikmoller629 The lace veil was made by Irish women for queen Ingrid's mother, Margaret of Connaught, who married Sweden's Gustav Adolf in 1905. Queen Ingrid wore it at her wedding 24/5 1935 and it has since been worn by all her female descendants in the Danish royal family: her daughters, her granddaughters and one daughter-in-law: crown princess Mary. The crown princess continues another family tradition: princess Isabella received a gold bracelet on her 9th birthday. Queen Ingrid's mother gave her a bracelet on her 9th birthday and that has also become tradition. Look at the pictures and you'll see that queen Margrethe, princess Benedikte and queen Anne Marie still wear them.

I was born and raised in Denmark ( have lived in the US for many years). Queen Margrethe is quite tall, 6 ft I think. One time when I was back in Denmark for Christmas, I was at a department store in Copenhagen, and noticed a very tall regal woman in a fur coat, a second look and I realized it was the Queen, which she was then. I had seen her before a few times, but always at a distance. I think because of her height and bone structure the dress was perfect, she would not have looked good in anything too frilly. I agree with many comments here the dress is timeless.

From back in the day when personal dressmakers made royal gowns instead of flashy designers who then charge an arm and a leg. Princess Margarethe has always had good taste: she is a true artist. Some of the evening gowns she appears in are just plain STUNNING! Color and cut are always spot on, with a spirit of grand /style epic (if correct for the occasion) with a soupçon of whimsy.😊

The estranged Prince Consort's funeral can also be seen on KZbin and his sad farewell from the Queen and family. Nonetheless this was a happy moment in the life of Denmark. Be well.
