I have worked as a nurse for 10 years and rarely get a thank you but these past 2 years I feel like we are being thanked left, right and centre, I have had strangers thank me when they see me in my uniform, it is so surreal, I have been a nurse for so long and no one has ever noticed our work in the health care sector and all of a sudden people realize how important the work of Nursing and the whole hospital (including the cleaners, food service people) truly is.
