Thanks for the video. That was really helpful. I usually go with using them both but moreover depends on the purpose of the investigation. If the investigation is like a pre-work and to characterise the area, spt seems enough. In the second stage, like investigation on the alligment of the structures (tunnel, brigde foots, dam etc) cpt is totaly necessary.

Thanks for the video, is CPT suitable for texas soil?
@RoyalEijkelkamp2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ahmed, CPT is suitable for a variety of soils, including those you find in Texas. Soils with N60 value of 100 require less than 20 tons pushing force when using a 15 cm2 that is pushed into the soil with the standard 36 mm (1.44 in) diameter rods. Most CPT crawlers and trucks have a pusher that is capable of generating this kind of force and therefore CPT can be performed in wide range of soils, even soils that are supposedly "too hard to push the cone". Note that very gravelly soils may damage the cone, and pre-drilling is required here. If you have further questions about CPT, feel free to contact our specialists via Royaleijkelkamp.com!
