When I was a young boy my brother bought an ex police Triumph Daytona 500. There was something about it, I was 15 and had had a couple of bikes, one being a Vespa Scooter that I blew up very quickly and a Honda 50 cc for stroke scooter that try as I would I couldn't blow,up or break. It just kept going. One Sunday my brother wasn't home , remember I was 15, I grabbed his gear and pinched his bike and rode it down to Ulladulla. Being a keen surfer I Thought I Would check the surf. I am standing there looking at the surf when I feel a hand on my shoulder and a voice says how was the ride? Faaaaaark, It was my brother who owned the bike (!I had 4 brothers) he had been for a surf. He let me ride it home and we still talk about that today and I still ride bikes and so does he, often together with mates. Bikes back then were connected differently to now. The Interceptor looks the go for me. I have a highly modded VTR1000 and just love it. At 62, my brother is 65 and just got a really nice VFR1200 ( I'm getting him a pipe and slippers for Christmas ) this is exactly the sort of supplementary bike I am looking for. A bike to have fun on. It's only a matter of time and 44 bikes along in the journey. Good to see eh? Motorcycling in the true sense and every ride a journey.

"Usable power". What I've come to understand as I've gone to more and more powerful motorcycles is that the power isn't usable except in very limited situations and, more importantly, they are less fun than bikes which are less powerful. I haven't ridden the Enfield but I suspect it would be more fun than the 1300 I currently have.

Classic and old school soul and hi-tech engineering amalgamated for the modern world's Rider who wants the best of technology and yet wants to do it the old school way where friendships weren't merely "likes" and "pokes" on social media and a time when a 'yes' meant a ''YES'' and a 'no' meant "NO"and of course when the words "made for each other" always meant together for life and not a divorce after a couple of years. So this bike is not just a 649cc machine but a representative and signifier of one of the best time of the human race in all its glory and abundance and vigor. I believe that by launching this bike Royal Enfield bike company has once again revived and resuscitated that Golden age and all the good things it represented. A time when TRUE workmanship and quality assurance weren't just merely words but were like a tangible certificate that promised YOU, the Rider unparalleled performance and indubitable reliability as specified and advertised by the bikes' manufacturers, and "that" wasn't seen being practiced anymore in the marketing and manufacturing culture of today's bike manufacturers particularly in the light and the mid-weight motorcycle segments, the 'mantra' in here was "profit", profit and "only" profit alone and the YOU the "Rider" were kept 'last' on the priorities list of the bike manufacturers. Enfield, with the Interceptor and Continental 650cc bikes is all set to change this.... Because it seems to me that these bikes have been designed and developed with YOU, the Rider and YOUR driving pleasure and comfort as the topmost priority list items of the manufacturer! It's a great new beginning and a very benevolent one for every TRUE biking enthusiast and Rider, of course, yourself included if you've come this far reading this review. Cheers! & Happy Riding!

What is this guy talking bout... He is describing a motorbike. You can do all of these things on any two wheeled machine. Don't get me wrong I hope this bike is a good thing but videos like these are just selling the idea of freedom. You could get that from a 50cc scooter if you were hard up. Show us the quality, show us the lack of eroded cheap materials and a machine that holds together and runs true. Show us a bike company that has taken a hard look at itself and produced a game changer for their followers and the haters alike. All the best to Royal Enfield on this machine and I mean that. I hope this 650 is as slick as it looks. What really is here including the comments as well as my own is speculation, time will reveal all as it always does.
@twistednemo6 жыл бұрын
Well said. I think the EFI Himalayan is a big leap over the first lot of the carburetted one. I haven't heard of any quality issues in it. Maybe RE has done what you say it should do, to an extent. The Himalayan and the 650 twins are RE's ticket to the international market. They cannot afford to mess it up, least of all with the 650. However, only time will tell.
@wustachemax6 жыл бұрын
@Dodge Ask yourself why RE spends so much money on these fancy promo videos and marketing. Because their bikes are pretty sub-standard quality, BUT, they know they can compete through heavy promotion instead. Very few other bike companies need to bother pushing "freedom" and "heritage" and whatever buzzword RE's marketing departments came up with - because their bikes basically sell themselves (ok maybe HD is the exception). BMW, Triumph, Yamaha's XSR line, you'll never see one of these cheesy soft-sell promo videos pumped out.

I own a Royal Enfield here in the United States. Bought it brand-new. Within the first year of ownership, I had to file no fewer than three warranty claims, one of which was for a fuel tank that started spontaneously leaking. My Enfield has 6,700 miles on the odometer and I can't wait to trade it for a bike that doesn't regularly self-destruct. I would caution everyone to stay away from R.E.'s 650s until they have long-term ownership reviews. They're beautiful bikes with a lot of character and history, but they're not reliable. I wish I'd listened to what I heard and not trusted what I'd been told about 'improvements.'
