It’s funny that you showed this brooch and talking about coming over on the ship. That’s how I came to Canada as a little girl we came on a boat. My poor mama was seasick the whole way here unfortunately ended up having to go back to Italy maybe a year after we got here, because my grandmother passed away, after about eight months back in Italy. My parents decided to come again, but we flew there and we flew back. It’s how it was done back then you come over on the boat. I would’ve love that it’s too bad they don’t do that anymore as like a cruise maybe they do and I just don’t know about it, I’d love to do it though

Actually, most of the Queen’s collection was probably left to the Crown, with a few exceptions. The reason is that if it is left to the monarch, you don’t have to pay inheritance taxes! So Catherine will be able to use them, but I imagine most of the collection rests with Camilla. Thanks for watching!!

This collection is passed down from one Monarch to the next. Pieces are never given to individuals, for several good reasons. One, when the Monarch inherits the collection, it is free of death duties, which are huge-about 40% of the value of the piece. If an individual were to inherit something, they would have to pay that death duty tax, and be responsible for insurance, maintenance, and security. The cost would be horrifying. Also by having the Monarch owning it all, all the Royal ladies have access to the entire collection, so they all can always find something suitable for an occasion. And finally, if a piece is given away and the recipient leaves the family and takes it with them, it would be lost forever to the collection. (There are also of course pieces that are privately owned by individuals that can be willed to anyone they want, like Diana’s engagement ring that was left to Harry, who later gave it to William for Catherine, but the value of these things would not be in the millions.)

I think the blue gemstone earrings Princess Catherine is wearing is not a part of the sapphire parure gifted to the Queen. I heard somewhere that Princess Catherine’s earrings are not sapphire but rather tanzanite.. You could tell the difference in the designs unless the sapphire earrings were redesigned.
