That's because they were very superstitious although sometimes it was manipulated by the political elite, seeing signs before battles etc

I am currently portraying Decius, and I would like to point out this excerpt is taken from Act 1, Scene 5 of "Julius Caesar" and not Act 2, Scene 2. The actors in the video seemingly utilized the meter as if they were speaking in prose; however, Shakespeare intended, especially Decius, during this scene to speak in Verse because of his ranking. Other than that, interesting rendition.
@ManoverSuperman2 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? The meter came through very clearly. Also, yes, this is Act 2 Scene 2, unless you are using a non-standard version of Shakespeare, I suppose. But as far as the popular printings of the text go, this is, in fact, Act 2 Scene 2.

I may seem like a fool for asking this-- could anyone tell me what are the names of these actors? I understand that they work with the RSC, but I couldn't find their names.
Is that Peter Capaldi at 0:19 and 1:54? The first time I watched, I thought so. The second time, I said no it isn't. There third time, I thought it was for sure. After a few more viewings, I am not sure.

she missed a line. After "horses did nigh and dying men did groan" she forgot " And ghosts did shriek and squeal about the streets." and then it is "O Ceasar!"
@robertjordan3555 жыл бұрын
This is beyond awful. Caesar sounds like a whiny small time yuppie trying to prove himself in some corporate setting. As for Calpurnia, why the monotonal + lacklustre delivery. It's like she doesn't give a shit whether Caesar runs into danger or not. Never impressed with the RSC. They always try to make Shakespeare words sound like everyday speech. It never works. It is a higher discourse and should be treated and performed as such.

Completely ridiculous casting. Insulting.
@iateyursandwiches10 ай бұрын
It's stage play. Suspension of disbelief is higher and no one really cares as long as the actor is good.
@vindolanda69747 жыл бұрын
Ugh this is limp acting. They have no sense of the play or the language. Caesar is worst, he is not bringing anything new at all. The woman is at least trying it seems but she is miscast ( not due to her colour).
