I have heard that the water is more brown in this area instead of turquoise. Some videos I've seen just have brown closer to the shore, and others i dont see any turquoise

Yes for sure, as long as you are not bringing any kiddos :). If you are looking for the biggest daytime party, I feel the Hideaway pool was the most happening.

How was the beach there?

The seating area for the beach is outstanding, lots of chairs and day beds, and 3 beach bars depending that portion of the resort you are booked at. The actual beach was pretty, clear and blue the day we arrived, but from there the weather took a turn and it became murky. So, answer I suppose is the beach is good if you catch it at a good time. They do run tractors in the AM to remove any seaweed.

Hi, was there a "smell" in the resort? Or in and around the resort/beach areas? I saw one video that mentioned this and im unsure now about booking. Please and thank you x

You can get a whiff of the "smell" on certain occasions yes. The only spot we noticed it on our first 6 days was in a few closed off staircases. But on our departure day, it was a little bit more noticeable in a few of the hallways. It's hard to tell if that smell is from sewage challenges, or if it's from the mangrove (basically the hotel is a middle of a humongous mangrove/swamp). But for us, it had really zero impact on our visit.
