It's crazy to see the engineering in a $1 or 1.2M car. It was seen as preposterous at the time a car could cost at or over $1M. Now car makers take an existing super car, expose some carbon, put center lock wheels on it, alcantara everywhere, call it limited edition and charge over $1M and it's the norm. Bugatti/VW really put it all on the line at the time with this thing, and it shows. This was not a money grab it was a a crowning achievement.
@spinaltap22
@spinaltap22 Жыл бұрын
Didn't each Veyron actually cost more like $5m to build, and they just sold them at a huge loss as some sort of halo model...so we're actually looking at the engineering in a $5m car, which is maybe why it blows 'regular' $1m cars out of the water..

We simply didn’t have many cool videos back in the day so whenever you went on KZbin, we had to search for the Bugatti that crashed into the bay. This is pure nostalgia and thank you for bringing us along.

I once walked into a guys' office in Germany. He was an old, just retired engineer. His coffee table was made out of a Veyron engine with a gaping hole in it. He proudly called it the fastest coffee table in the world 😂 Apparently it blew on the test bench. He later told me that he worked on engine-gearbox tuning. Initially they downtuned them to 7-800 hp on the bench as the gearboxes were problematic. Later these were solved and a meeting was called. Main question? How much horsepower can we get reliably. He put on the table we can get 1000 hp. The manager there didn't like that number. 1001 like in the fairytales of 1001 nights just sounds better. And so that number came to be :-) op

I personally prefer Houstons build as a subscriber of both channels. No shade to Matt but he put a ton of rusty components and crap back into the Murci or rattle can'd things... Kind of disappointing. Houston is actually putting in the effort to put this car back up there amongst its peers
@realmach5
@realmach5 11 ай бұрын
@@GaIvatr0n rebuilding a flood car is different than rebuilding a crashed car. No point for MA to replace non damaged parts just because they show wear, you have to replace corroded parts on a flood car unless you want to trade the car apart later and redo work you skipped once issues arise.
@GaIvatr0n
@GaIvatr0n 11 ай бұрын
No I totally understand but If you're going to restore a rare Murci which is closing in on that £1M mark, why cut corners? Do it properly and make it a real showstopper.. not just a pig with lipstick, hence it breaking down a number of times.@@realmach5

With the cleaning though, I feel like it would be worthwile renting or buying a laser metal cleaner, or dry ice blasting everything to clean it instead of the wire wheel. It would be much more time and cost effective with a nicer look at the end.
