Figured it out. Use Maria's idea of tuning pegs, make the square with dove-tail joints with TWO pegs thru them instead of one because one can still pivot over time when the glue has weakened, and then support each of the corners with an inside L-bracket AND and outside L-bracket. That will keep it super secure and true, and if overtime even that gets wobbly everything will be undo-able so it can be take apart, re-glued and put back together.

What about making an imprint on the soap instead of pushing your fingers between the wires? You could design it like those inserts for baking pans for people who don't want to cut their brownies. Then just touch it to the top of the soap, remove, and add your toppings. To modify the current design: Back the screws out slightly, then string it like a tennis racquet with narrow elastic cord. The strings will snap back into place, and if they get loose or worn out, you can tighten them or unwind and restring with ease.
@liiset3 жыл бұрын
To add, if you would like to keep the current design, I would see if you can make the wooden frame from a light material, that hugs the outside of the mold. That will make the wires move slightly lower, so less pressing from your fingers - and it will be more secure in place. It you can’t make the tennis frame like design, why not use winged nuts, so you can easily readjust / tighten the threads again once they loosen up. Not 100% sure this would work but I thought to throw up a ball.

Instead of a single wire: use multiple wires twisted together and slide the ones facing the other direction into place in the wires as you twist so they won't move at all. Then secure it in a similar way that you have on that frame. (Does this make sense the way I described it?) :)
@Yasaman7283 жыл бұрын
Architect speaking here, not sure how possible this is for you but the best option is "projecting" the grid from above on top of your soap, this way you're not touching the dividers since it's not physically there, so it's not gonna break or cause problems when you're placing the stones :)

@@Claubuza was about to say the same thing, the original litebrite came out in the late 60's - my grandma I think still has one of the original ones or at least a very early model one that my brother and I used to play with all the time when we were kids. I loved the papers you could put over top that would tell you what color pegs to use to make different designs.

The thumbnail picture kinda reminds me of doing any kind of art as a kid. Adding too many colors together and then add a little extra on top.

I love your channel and have enjoyed your videos for a long time. I have 2 suggestions for redoing your grid for decorating slab soaps. 1. restring the frame you have now with elastic cord, so when you have to reach through they stretch and won't snap like the current design. Elastic cord would also be easy to replace if it wore out over time. 2. I do cookie decorating and some use a tiny projector to project guidelines onto cookies, you could set up a projector on a tripod or somewhere in your shop and adjust an image to project down onto your slab so you never actually touch the grid. You'd just have to line it up with the mold. Good luck finding a solution for your issue! Keep doing what you do and being your fabulous self.

I LOVE this soap so so much!!! And my grandpa had a lite bright that we got to play with at his house... 100% as fun as you think. And this soap is perfect for a Lite Bright! Awesome!

For my son’s elementary science fair(5 years ago now. Wow!) he made soap. And he got in trouble because it resembled a dessert and a kindergartner ate it. He had a big display that said “Soap”, it explained the chemical process of making soap. He gave a verbal discussion on the soap making process. It was very exciting, and he got in trouble for all this hard work he put into it. He hasn’t tried that hard on a school project since. I have never been more upset at a group of educators ever before or since.
@dramaminedream223 жыл бұрын
You’d think the kindergarten teacher responsible for watching the kindergartener would have been the one who should have gotten in trouble. 😡 It’s a science fair. There’s stuff there they shouldn’t be touching without permission. That’s very unfair that they took it out on your son. ❤️

When I was a young tween in the early 2000s, I wanted my bedroom to be painted black with splatter paint in those neon colors. I thought it would look so beautiful. But my mom absolutely refused to let me have a black bedroom!

Lol my mum would let me pick the colour of my room but only one wall and the others had to be white. She said it would be too dark otherwise. To be fair dark purple would have made the room look kinda dim.

Such an awesome design!! LOVE IT! I've seen another soap maker use a thin piece of plastic the width of the mould in order to press down into the soap a teency bit to make the markings in order to create a grid. Inexpensive, accurate (if following notches on the sides of the mould/paper) and less likely to break on you. Also, quicker I would imagine and doesn't get in the way when placing embeds n stuff

Omg yes I did have a lite brite!! I completely forgot they existed omg. They were absolutely as fun as the commercials. Me and my sister would play with it for hours because it had multiple sides. That was the peak of my artistic ability, I was not a creative child. Thank you for unlocking that memory it was very deep back in my brain.
