Some ideas: 1: Do a series themed “out of my comfort zone.” Experiment with ingredients, techniques, and designs that are new to you, that you wouldn’t ordinarily do. 2: Bloopers. Everybody loves those! 3: A Day in the Life: bring the cameras along as you run your business for a day or two. Let us see the tasks you have to do and the many hats you have to wear. 4: I’ve seen episodes with your mom, and she’s great, but what if you brought your dad in front of the camera and taught him how to make soap? 5: bring back Kenny, even if only for a guest appearance. I miss him!!

I really liked the challenges you used to do. Like when you'd have a competition with your brother, or try to make a coherent soap out of things you picked at random. I like videos that are focused on creative process, seeing how people come up with ideas. I'd like seeing how you pick and mix scents, how your color experiments work, or when you're trying something new. I enjoyed it when you joined a soap club and would try techniques you didn't know how to do.
@science62772 жыл бұрын
Hey Katie. I agree with people saying that we want to see more variety in the techniques that you use. You do a lot of drop swirls, in the pot swirls, and textured layers. It would be nice to see more swirls of different kinds. I also remember you doing a soap based on a drawing that Lily did for you. I loved watching you interact with Lily. I’d like to see more of that, maybe you do a limited run of Lily’s Soap of the Month. Another thing I would be interested in would be if you had an ongoing series with each collection, like you did with the birthstone soaps. A different theme each year. Like one year is books and another year is flowers etc. Kits and hacks are all good fun. I also really liked the holiday house renovation and the royal academy series.
@rachelp24682 жыл бұрын
This would be nice. Maybe some smaller batches that are more complex and limited edition. I know scaling the complicated soap for full production probably isn't cost effective. But small batch exclusives, even like the Taco Bell soap would be fun.

i'd like to see more soap challenges where you don't have control over the design of the soap you're making. either by making a design that's already been sent in by a viewer or by creating a poll somewhere and letting viewers vote on soap elements. preferably the first option but the second would be fun too!

I’m curious if you’d be interested in showing more behind the scenes of the process. Maybe show us videos about your brainstorming process (coming up with the monthly theme/coming up with how many designs/coming up with designs) and then follow through what sale day is like for you. My recommendation would be to put out more out-of-the-ordinary cool soap creations - as in highly detailed or big soap that looks like a replica of something (aka something specifically for thumbnail eyecandy). If you did this once a month or so it would keep the viewers interest between the more typical soap videos and likely attract new viewers. Actually overall I would take some ideas from “how to cook that” with Ann Reardon. I think she has a good balance of how to videos , reaction videos, crazy creations (this is what gets new people in, just a big ass candy bar for the thumbnail), and her regular content that is relatively similar to yours.

Katie being self-conscious at the beginning, meanwhile not 2 seconds after I hit "play", I literally said out loud, "Aww, she looks so cute!" I've been thinking about the reno series the past few days and wondering why there weren't any updates. I'm sad they didn't do well for you. Could you maybe at least to a tour of the guest house/soap studio so those of us who did enjoy the series could see the finished project? Having only discovered your channel a year or so ago, I'm still loving the soap videos and am not burned out on them at all. The craft kit testing videos are also really fun. Honestly, I just enjoy watching you and your bubbly, upbeat personality, so I'll watch whatever you put out! Though I know that's not really helpful feedback. :) I do like the idea someone else suggested of more challenge-type soap making. Maybe having the viewers have some input into what gets used to make a soap (polls on insta for example), or drawing colors/embeds/etc from a hat and having to make them into something nice. Or having the other members of your team pick things for you to have to make into a soap design? Things along that nature could be really fun.

I would really like more tutorial videos, or showing us the difference between certain things. For example, make a soap with the same fragrance and same colors, but with different kinds of swirls. Or the same swirl but different accent colors so we can see how those decisions impact the design of the soap. I also love the "soap makers reviews crafty soap videos" or you could also review movies/series that have some soap into it (the only one that comes to mind is fight club lol, but also you could comment on small business or stuff like that). I see the video views have gone way down and I am so sorry for that, you inspired me to make soap and now I have 8 loafs of soap that haven been made thanks to you. Sure, do other things, 'specially with your little gem, but despite the lack of interest, I still think the soapmaking videos are the heart of your channel. I hope to get a chance to meet you someday; you seem very much like the big sister I never had. ;D
I'm newer, and I still love watching you make soaps. It's very relaxing and nice to watch while I paint or do homework. I find that your soap maker reacts series gives me a headache, not due to you, but due to the videos you react to and how thoughtless they can be. As a long time viewer, I admit I've skipped several episodes over the past few months. I'm reluctant in sharing my opinion because I would never wish for someone to not evolve or grow or try new things. Since you specifically asked the viewers, however, I will share my thoughts. What I really liked about the older videos is hearing Caleb in the background (Question of the Day), seeing your family (Kenny, your mom, etc. make guest appearances), and your overall calmer, more genuine, more sophisticated tone. Nowadays, I feel like I'm watching a channel created for children (you are outright yelling at the camera during the intros) and you seem very "ON" in that every soap is "Ya'll!!! THIS is my FAVORITE" and "I'M SO EXCITED!!!!". I fully appreciate that we all love soap..your soap.. your soap videos. But, not EVERY soap, every scent, every topper, etc. can be your absolute favorite that excites you beyond measure. It just doesn't feel genuine anymore. It feels less like you're enjoying it and more like you're forcing yourself, under pressure, to keep doing it because it's now a business that supports not only you, but your family, and your friends. One video in the Barbie series started to play automatically and when I walked into the room I thought, for a split second, I was looking at JoJo Siwa!! My first tought was "Oh man...this channel really isn't for me anymore." And I was truly a bit sad. I used to really look forward to your videos. I miss the videos with you sitting on the floor, in front of your blanket from Target, talking about this month's inspiration, sharing a few Pinterest pictures here and there, and then taking us through making the soap. I miss the angry emoji pop-up when you drip soap on the counter. It's the little, simple things. When I watch the videos now, I skip right to you making the soap. In regards to new ideas...I don't think this is "new" necessarily, but it may be interesting... As an AirBnB owner, I've been interested in trying to create my own mini or single use soaps (using pretty silicone molds like orange slices, succulents, etc.) and toiletries (body butter, lip balm), but I don't know how to go about making super nourishing (I'm in the desert), natural (no TD, artificial colorants, artificial scents, etc.) items on a small scale. There are so many bases and oils out there. Do I get oat milk soap or shea or shea/coconut or...??? I don't know where to start. I'm sure your other viewers have many great ideas and I'm excited to see what you come up with. I wish you the very best always and continued prosperity in your business.

Yes to every single bit of this. Editing my comment to say: I really pause to be critical at all because I know you work really hard at this and I hate how negative the internet can be and I don't want to add to that at all. But I do want to give you honest feedback that can maybe be helpful. I feel like "peak" Royalty Soaps was early 2018-2020. Something definitely seemed to have changed with your on-camera persona at the beginning of this year, and it does come off as a little less genuine & just not really what I started watching for. I enjoy your videos but usually skip the intro & close out after the soap cutting. As far as content ideas, I love the soapmaking videos the most, don't care too much for reaction videos (just in general, not yours specifically), kit testing type stuff would be nice sprinkled in, but a couple years ago you did a series on packaging, embeds, "behind the scenes" type stuff and that was cool. This all comes from a place of love!

I think the overarching problem is that the built-in compelling narrative is gone. Creative excitement and exploration were key parts of building the business, but now that it's built, and decisions have to be made on practicalities (ie simplifying/standardizing designs) the excitement can't help but ring increasingly hollow. There needs to be more space for Katie just to enjoy her craft.
@Twilink362 жыл бұрын
Exactly and there are many redos of soap, I enjoyed it so much when she was talking about her inspiration and she tried new micas or new fragrances. Now it feels a bit more like standardized building blocks. Sorry Katie :(

We love your soap, but I think what we got hooked on and stick around for was/is how your personality and character came through…it had all the “friend vibes”…ya know? Like we were tuning in to see the soap, but almost equally to hangout, smile, and laugh with y’all. So, i guess what I’m saying is that I’d like to see more of you and your hilariously wonderful family, and see some behind the scenes stuff!

I liked the holiday home content :( I always enjoy the "testing hacks" videos.. extra points if you try it out and explain why it won't work like Anne with "How To Cook That" ... I also enjoy the buying kits and doing them (all kinds, soap/candles/body butter/tarts/kids stuff/all the kits) and then linking the kit in case people want to try. Maybe business related stuff or stories of issues that you ran into in the past. Trying new crafts? Whatever you end up choosing I still hope you do some regular soap series vids I love these!

For the record, while I enjoy all of the Royalty Soaps videos, my favorite are always the soap making videos leading up to the big theme releases. It really inspires me to buy soap, and I get really excited when I can buy a special soap for a friend or family member and then send them to watch the making-of video! I do hope you don't really make fewer of those in 2022!!

I enjoy the soapmaking videos but what's funny is that the more I see you trying to "KZbin-ize" the videos (more graphics, intricate thumbnails, the themed backgrounds), the less into it you seem to be. Do what makes you happy, which may not always be what KZbin says you should be doing. I'd love to see a tour of your soapmaking studio, a tour of your filming studio, a "day in the life" of Royalty soaps, a look at how you produce videos, maybe recreate your earliest soaps with the skills and knowledge and equipment that you have now.

I love the soap making videos, and their frequency! Its my personal favourite content. I typically get caught up in life and end up watching videos a couple of days or even a week later, so the statistics can be ever changing, I wouldn't worry too much! The reno series was actually super fun, I would have liked to see more of it. Lily and Caroline always pull me in, it such a good time for us and for you it seems! Some business-y / behind the scenes things would be a nice refresher, and the reaction videos are always a hit. Watching you create something fun is, I think, the main reason why we are all here.

I would love to see you collaborate with others artists (I get a thrill when you are mentioned on other channels). Oooo, The Try Guys try soap making?! Maybe a soap making challenge series? I loved the video when you randomly picked colors. It was hard, but fun! Maybe you can challenge other soap-makers or they can challenge you. A viewer design contest where we vote on the winner and you make it? So that would be two videos: showing the designs and then making the designs after voting. A behind the scenes video of the whole Royalty Soaps process? You don't make every single bar that is shipped, so I would love to know who helps and see the process. I know some of your family/employees/friends don't like being filmed, so this might not be their cup of tea.

I’d like to see you talk some about the products you always have stocked like the diamond soaps, fragrances, and lotions. I’d also like to know how you come up with your secret sauce fragrances. My 2.5yr old and I love the soap making videos. I also enjoy watching reaction videos to "soap hacks" or 5min crafts but too many reaction videos would get redundant since there's only so many "hacks." I miss seeing the fan designs, Lily picking out your ingredients, using things you've had forever and decided to use up, picking out your ingredients blindfolded... the more fun/lighthearted videos because they make your personality really shine through ❤ I enjoyed the Holiday House videos and was a little sad when they just stopped 🙁

I'm not really sure how long I've been watching you - at least two years but probably longer - and I love the soap videos. I find them so relaxing. I agree with a lot of what others said. I really liked the renovation series! It would be cool to see more of your design process. I also miss the viewer designs. It might be cool to see you try some stuff you've never done or do some "challenge" soap videos like others have said!
@carols56652 жыл бұрын
I love the soap videos please don’t cut back on them, it’s why I watch. I’m actually less inclined to watch other content (but I was enjoying the renovation series since it was only occasionally). The “Taco Bell” soap set was a really fun one to watch. 🙂 Maybe a more challenging soap design would be good? (I like watching “I Dream In Soap” from the UK for her really challenging designs.) Have you considered a CP embed? I realize with your volume of sales complicated designs are an issue but it’s nice to see how an experienced soaper works out a more complex design. For the QOTD: I drink hot tea just about every day but I do enjoy a cup of cider sometimes (usually in the evening). I also have an apple cider flavored tea for when I can’t decide 😁

I’ve been here for years. I usually binge watch and then I don’t come back for like a month and then I binge watch again. I love how you are packing these videos full with your personality. Kinda like behind the scenes.

I loved the end part of this video where you cut the soap with the music and there were no words, letting the soap speak for itself. Seeing you measure your ingredients (not the measurements of your special recipes) instead of jumping directly to where everything is already in the melted form would be very soothing too. ~Julie~

I would love to see more art and pushing your boundaries. Like with embeds in the soap. I love super detailed. Not all the time but more of a sprinkle of that. Especially with vanilla. I love that scent but it's never used because of discoloration. Maybe two separate batches one with vanilla and a color it goes well with and then another scent for another color. Play dough soap how to and follow me tutorial and whipped soap.

It would be interesting to see how you schedule a collection right from the design aspect through to choosing the colour palette, fragrance, embeds, the schedule of when the bars are made ( a behind the scene vid of your team making a soap for an upcoming release) the labelling process and prep for release day 😊

I think I would really like to see more behind the scenes of the soap making, like the embedded or how you and your team get all the soaps ready for the release (making the batches, the add-ons, the packaging).
