I lived in divide from 1989-2003. My parents built the big house on the hill across from elk valley estates on 67. It was originally owned by the Starbucks family as well as Maytags property and Mueller state park.

I love being able to hop in the car and take this drive whenever I feel. I love my state!

I grew up in Woodland Park in the mid 70's and 80's. What happened to the one lane tunnel?

The tunnel is no longer there :-( I drove up to cripple creek yesterday.....btw woodland park during the winter has to be one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I'm from Texas

glad to see that the forest fires missed this area. looks the same as when I lived in Florissant in the late 80's. Cripple Creek looks a lot nicer now, since gaming was legalized. Is the railroad tunnel you drive through still there? I sure miss those views. Hope to get out there again some day.

I know this is really late but I just went to cripple creek yesterday (from Texas)....the tunnel is now closed, but obviously I don't know why haha. Beautiful place though, I loved it.

there used to be a railroad tunnel that you had to take turns going through, since it was one lane wide and there were signs on both ends reminding you to turn your headlights on as you went through and off after you got through.

I must be getting sometimers, It is highway 67 from Divide to Cripple Creek that has the railroad tunnel.
