It's been before, it's called "Linux" for "PS3". It was advertised as a feature by "SONY" but later on it was removed cause people were learning how to hack the system cause by "Linux" backdoor exploits.

BuT YoU cAN InStAlL lInUx 1. The version of Linux that was officially released by Sony is long since obsolete, I'll be more impressed if someone put Ubuntu or something. 2. Sony disabled Other OS, making it impossible to do 3. If other projects such as a gaming PC inside a PS2 or hell, a Gamecube. What's stopping someone from putting a gaming PC inside a PS3? Take your smartasses elsewhere.

I still find the PS3's XMB to be one of the most beautiful looking console menus and very well structured. Would be nice if we can launch and change settings from within the XMB in the future, maybe also allowing for connectivity to the PSP.

Yup I look forward to seeing what they bring us soon. I already have mine installed with a jailbroken firmware. I hope we can add ps3 and below games to the xmb. This would eliminate the need for a real console soon.

Yeah I agree its one of my favorite menus, I still use the ps3 to watch bluray discs on or dvds and sometimes some light gaming.

I recommend to anyone who uses it that if you have an SSD, install the emulator there, don't know the time they save when the emulator compiles shaders and other things

This is not an emulator it's just an emulation of the ps3 menus and settings you can't play games on it

Tried ps3 emulation for the first time yesterday and was shocked my pc could run it flawlessly. But noticed the username in some games just said "user". So I tried the XMB and ran into all the same issues you did. Once it came up, it was running a bit sluggish, but I could change the profile name and all my titles show that now.

@@Mangomesh well that's 360, you could emulate the OG Xbox titles with Xemu or Cxbx-Reloaded. The Xbox ports of games were better graphically than their PS2 counterparts. So it's always best to emulate multiplatform games from the PS2 on Xbox emulator instead. Once features are more matured. Right now PCSX2 may have better settings, but Xemu/Cxbx-R will catch up.

fyi that rpcs3 xmb need system firmeware 4.40 until 4.88 and to get xmb setup ppu decoder use cpu interpreter (fast) gpu add some write color buffers) debug: force cpu bit emulation

Not gonna lie, the PS3 was my first proper mediaplayer for the TV. Sure it was also possible with an unmodded Wii but it wasn't really the same experience.

Question - Metal Gear Solid Legacy Edition on PS3 has digital graphic novels that are access in the video section of the PS2 Main Menu. if you were to load the game disc, I assume you could access them there now in RPCS3?

It's a start but the ability to play ps3 games will definitely take a lot longer android for sure wouldn't be able to run a ps3 emulator

took forever with loading the ppu and modules. Now when i try to launch it it just sits at a black screen after saying compiling shaders in the bottom left. I might just have to wait it out but I feel like I been waiting a long time lol and yes ive tried to close and reboot multiple times aka the emulator itself and the main menu. Idk whats happening.
