Her storylines were so organic and natural, nothing was forced from her issue with Roxxy, gottmik gaslighting her , her being the underdog and getting bullied for the fandom to just say "they are giving her a villain edit" when they gave her the "jinxk edit"

I honestly dont hate Nymphia's win or think it was a bad edit. Nymphia all season long was advertised as a silent killer that got her wins in a position where she didnt had the upper hand. Her first design all the cast were paying attention to Q and Dawn, the Girl Groups Nymphia struggled with lyrics and was in the "leftovers" group and the adverts Sapphira was in her domination era and was fresh out of the bottom with fire in her eyes to redeem herself, but in all of those cases Nymphia ended up in the top. The edit basically made us feel like the queens felt when competing against Nymphia. Nymphia couldnt be a silent killer if she was flaunted all season long, so her doing basically what she always did and "came out of nowhere" made alot of sense to me. Not only that, but Nymphia in the end had a "Starts strongs, looses steam, snaps out of it and ends strongs" in the end, so we have that too. I honestly think Sapphira is her perfect rival, a massive competitor that everyone is afraid of and due to that we end up forgetting Nymphia, only for her to shock us all in the end bcs she keeps her cards close to her chest while we've seen pretty much everything Sapphira has bcs we pay *so much* attention to her and she has many moments to shine.

I think for AS3, they needed a way to eliminate Bebe (without Rupaul doing it) as she was a past winner... so brought in the jury twist. I dont think they expected the jury to choose Kennedy over Shangela.. but were confident Bebe would be eliminated. This then resulted in the top 2 we got.

They didn’t Ru and Michelle talked about it on their podcast thing they were doing at the time they they were shocked Shangela was not picked and they assumed she would be and they said the girls took it to personally and didn’t think about it from a competition stand point that Shangela should’ve been in the top 2

I think the Monet and Trinity double crowing perfectly shows how their’s two types of winners: the “season” winners and the “finale” winners. Based on the entire season, Trinity was by far the strongest competitor of the top 4 and despite her flopping the finale, they still hand her the crown since she had an incredible track record. Monet on the other hand did decent that season, but the finale was her episode and production gives her the crown despite her not having a particularly strong run

My fan theory is that Wow was just planning on crowning Trinity alone and put Monet in the top 2 to minimize fan backlash because she did so poor all season compared to Monique and Naomi so it would only make sense they had no choice to crown Trin. Fan response was obviously something different and they saw that wasn’t feasible, but under no circumstances could they crown only Monet for her poor performance all season and shot themselves in the foot because if Monique was Top 2, I’m sure she would’ve won alone deservedly.

Yeh I definitely think the plan for as4 was to crown a poc winner. I mean 8 out of 10 queen's were non white. Monet was the planned winner hence why in the finale they really focused on Trinity being nervous. I think they did the double crowning after seeing that Monet was 4th in the fan vote and Trinity 1st... plus the fans were still upset after Manila elim. I'm a Trinity stan.. but I do think Monet was the original intended winner.

@@Raumaia That finale editing was a chop. You know how allegedly they filmed Bianca and Adore winning together on season 6 excluding literally only Courtney lol? They didn’t even film trin and Monet together winning in the same room to give themselves the option. They aired both them winning simultaneously, alone, cuz they didn’t they think they’d have to bother. It was a last minute iMovie mess, the audio is so funny

I would say because it wasn't an obvious crown, you could say it was deserved, but ain't obvious like Bob the drag queen or Bianca del Rio. The tension was still on for either jaida or Gigi, even crystal could have been a positive surprise but still supported.

I disagree that the edit is the issue with Angeria's win. Let's compare it with Krystal V in UK 3 like that was Ella's win but Krystal won that pretty uncontroversially because she ATE the finale. The issue with Angeria's win is objectively looking her talent show was good but not memorable and she was the worst of the 3 in the final lip sync. So it's the pairing of her meh finale performance with the Roxxxy centric edit of the final episodes that made her win extremely shocking. If angie ate the final lip sync down I don't think anyone could say it was rigged tbh but that just wasn't the case so the only real thing to support her win is that she had the most stars at that point, which like, not really? But congrats to angie!

Naw Angie basically disappeared halfway through the season the last third of the season was all Roxxy it’s almost like they used the edit for the version of the season where Roxxy wins and then played the tap of Angie winning

It’s just so off putting when the season has an obvious winners edit for one queen and then they randomly crowns another. Like could you imagine if Kandy muse won all stars 8? I love her but that would be so unsatisfying so I don’t understand why they did that to Roxxxy and Angeria. They should either give multiple queens “winner” edits or give no one a winners edit. At least in Nymphia and Sasha’s dominated the finale so it was somewhat satisfying

I disagree with your comment on Manila’s edit. AS4 was the first all stars season I watched and I wasn’t a true fan back then but I saw Manila’s elimination on the cards from the moment Latrice went home the first time. Manila’s edit during that episode made it so clear that when she fell into the bottom, someone would send her home. And for the whole makeover episode it became clear to me that Manila would go home. I think the fan base just collectively chose not to see it because they were such Manila stans. As far as Nymphia is concerned, it is very true that she had the fewest confessionals (she had none in the Rusical episode, like literally zero) and she somewhat disappeared in the edit up until episode 13, but her win in the book challenge was SO dominant and SO triumphant that it kind of made up for the poor edit up until that point. Kind of.

I genuinely believe that part of why they decided to crown Monet in that stitched together double crowning was because of the live interview where Naomi is asked what an all-stars winner looks like and responds "blonde and white," because like... was she wrong? And giving Trinity a solo win after that and the lackluster finale performance would not have sat well with a lot of people.

People care about track record way too much tbh, it’s less about track record and more about impact on the competition/fanbase. I think Willow Pill is a great example cause she only won 1 challenge extremely early on, yet her win remains largely uncontested because if you actually watch the show you’ll see that her track record/wins doesn’t actually reflect just how well she did. Not to mention fan popularity is huge. That’s why Nymphia was never really surprising to me. She was always the clear audience favorite by a substantial margin, and even though she had the least wins going into the finale, its a pretty popular opinion that she should’ve won at least 1-2 more challenges than she did. I think people get way too hung up on that whole “PPE” system instead of actually looking at individual performance. Also in terms of impact on the competition, I feel like a lot of winners have their iconic moment on the season. Willow’s was her talent show, and Nymphia’s was the obviously her tie look. Even though Sapphira and Plane killed the competition as well, I genuinely don’t think either of them had that “moment” that the fanbase is gonna be talking about 5 years down the line.

Well to me I feel like the person who did the best in the competition should win it I hate that someone can pretty much dominate like Shea did on season 9 and then lose in the end because of a lipsync or one performance but it brings drama and attention

I think it's also important to point out that a large portion of the fanbase didn't want Trinity to win AS4 because Naomi had famously commented that All Stars winners are "skinny, white and blonde" so Drag Race didn't want to reinforce this. This is not those the only reason Monet won, because as mentioned in the video Monet slayed the finale and a solo Trinity win would have felt underwhelming considering her performance.

The edit was just so horrible. Like they made the whole Roxxxy not losing a single lipsync thing last towards the end of the finale making a lot of us think oh, she's gonna win. While Angeria, was amazing in the competition, her edit and storyline was just slowly being dropped. Completely leaving her at the, Angeria vs. Roxxxy ruby scissors situation. I'm not sure why the edit just completly dropped her if she was going to win? Even with Roxxxy losing her first ever lipsync, that finale was just so awkward. Vanjie won it obviously, but it was a weird mix of wanting the fans to be shocked at Roxxxy losing but also crowning Angeria? Idk the edits leading to the finale was just so awkward.

Giving Angeria an unsatisfying edit AFTER they filmed everything is so cruel. Nymphia’s win was so wild bc watching the finale I kept thinking, “she 100% deserves this but she’s not gonna win.” I think we’re retroactively happy about Trixie, & the twinner’s win. I think we should also b more satisfied with Angeria’s eventually. I don’t think roxxxy deserved bc her runways were meh & overall performance wasn’t the best - undeserved badges.

I was gonna say, Angeria was the strongest competitor in the season. But the whole ruby scissors situation and then stretching Roxxxy's record of not losing any lipsyncs, just made her crowning look awkward. Like she was one of the best, but they dropped her edit completely. I said previously it was an awkward mix of wanting the fans to be shocked at Roxxxy losing her first lipsync, but also have Angeria win? Which was deserved due to her record, but the editing was awkward.

Angeria was my pick to win for season 14, and I m so happy she won now. Could not see Roxxxy winning with that AWFUL runway package. Felt like the community was gaslighting me to like it cuz “sHe mAdE iT hErSelF”. Mark my words, 5 yrs from now we ll all agree that her outfits were bad and Angie FULLY deserved it. Sue me!!

I was VERY surprised when Yvie won against the very polished Brook Lynn. Guess they wanted another quirky winner, and couldn't have another white blonde queen after Alaska AS2, Sasha S9, Aquaria S10 and Trixie AS3.

It is a pretty good season but I would say..Ginger Johnson the first half of the season focuses heavily on Cara Melle/Vicki and Banksie rivalry while the second half focuses on Michael Marouli making a comeback. While Ginger gets more good critiques than Michael and Tomara she is so out of focus it feels a bit out of left field

The last few seasons that's been on everybody has gotten a good reception but the black queens. No one looked at Algeria as the winner and it wasn't because of her edit it wasn't because of what the show showed. She has three wins two of those back-to-back. They showed her almost in a jinx way of being the one that was the underdog and being perceived in the wrong way. They even showed your receipts that nothing she was doing was wrong or malicious. Do you still have people say they were trying to give angie a villains edit. When it literally showed Roxy and mik as petty. Every single Time that they showed you who the winner was y'all ignored it and try to make it into a new narrative. Her winter edit was so clear from episode 1 to 8 that it didn't need to last any longer it will be too obvious. But the reason is she's a black queen so the people just didn't see it for her. Definitely not over plastic or Roxy it is solely because of colorism. Angeria smoked the season yet soneone like you is making videos flying into the narrative that this win was shocking. When in actuality if you was watching the season and actually giving her the temperature she deserved you would have known she was winning from the get go like we all did. Everyone who was outraged is also either white or has close proximity to whiteness. None of the Queens are mad except for detox. I can try to act like this is undeserved or shocking it's so weird. Right. Let’s just ignore the tons of people enraged over Lawrence Chaney’s win or even Trixie’s win with a good majority believing Shangela deserved to win that season (I agree). No one’s debating Bob, Symone, Yvie, Bebe, Keiona, Shea, Ra’jah etc. Only debate that came with Ra’jah was that perhaps Silky deserved to win. Notice how each debated queen you named has some sort of production controversy tied to them minus Jaida. It literally has nothing to do with race, but I suppose that doesn’t fit the narrative.
