I ran a Strixhaven game for my mom and some friends. It was interesting, but I definitely had to change some things, like the slaad’s color.

Hmm 🤔 the only school themed campaign I was in was one themed after fantasy high but set more in an early 2000’s style of time. I made a satyr Kensai monk. I leaned very much into the fey aspect of things but also themed my character as “the art kid” as far as school trope cliques. Another player I designed my character with had a peace cleric Leonin who very much played a pacifist character. His character also was “the art kid” and brought cupcakes to school to share (because cupcakes were such a huge trend hitting back then lol). Our dynamic duo was one where we met doing a community mural project for the town and hit it off as best friends. She was a fun character to play as she wasn’t shy but back talked and played pranks and had a bit of a hot temper but was a seriously good and protective friend. She never really attended classes like she was supposed to and snuck into the bard class the first day, tricking that teacher into thinking she was one of them. She also broke up an argument between the paladin teacher and the rogue teacher by daring the rogue teacher to meditate in the quad all day, to which he did to prove he could. Unfortunately the game got unwieldy as too many people signed up so the dm, overwhelmed, put an end to it. I had to retire my satyr monk which was sad. I hope one day to bring her back. One major thing I loved was rocking out to Shakira songs because I decided that was her favorite music. The party loved that too and we would have a mini dance party over it whenever it was put on. Not enough to derail things but it was entertaining and kept the mood lively. The party was intended to eventually find out how tragic my satyr's backstory was which was them always being brought back by their druid aunt with the reincarnation spell until it went wonky and screwed up my character's memories. The story theme being there about grief and not letting go and how my character was a victim of that. But! Never got to reveal that except to a few friend players after the game was cancelled. Oh well!

That sounds like such a fun concept. I didn't really watch fantasy high but it really does sound fun. I'm an art kid in real life so I know how much fun ot can be. I do hope you get to play them again

This is utterly baffling, its like that moment in "Return to Oz" when, midway through a task Tick Tock's "thinking" key winds down and he begins spouting gibberish until it's wound up again. All I can imagine is the DM ran out of ideas and crit failed his wisdom roll to wing it! I've never played in a wizard school campaign but I'm a massive fan of Fire Emblem 3 Houses, if a DM wanted me on board for a game all they'd have to do is mention that!

I'm glad you are doing these horror stories. Please, don't become a cringey attention seeker like the other youtubers, I used to like Crispy's Tavern but he began to make a lot of cringey acts and dumb jokes, now he is unwatchable for me. Stay as you are, like a calm friend gossiping.
