My brother studied geology and geography pretty extensively, so I was vaguely aware of some of the environmental stuff (particularly the tectonics and mountains and how rivers come from the mountains), but I didn't know rivers only converged, and didn't split! That's so cool. Lookit me, learning stuff. xD I tend to focus too much on conserving space (both memory and map space), and my senses of proportion and spacial awareness are AWFUL, so my world maps always end up too small and plain. xD This video was exactly the helpful advice I needed to start working on better maps. ^_^

Yeah that's one of the biggest issue with the RPT that's come out on both MV and MZ. That guy is correct though, Para laxing the desired graphic on top of the map would be the best option in this case. As time goes on, I can imagine the community will create some assets to fix this problem. I'll be releasing some asset sets in the future, (A few months away) So I'll take note of that so I can address it when I design the tiles.

Cool! Got some good tips here, like rivers converge, they don't branch. Glad to see some RPG maker videos that aren't 5 years old. I'm trying to research whether it's possible to randomize maps. Age of Empires II is my favorite game because it has randomized maps which makes exploration meaningful.

Kinda feel like reviving an old project of mine now. I Am going for more of a connected world/overworld... best way I can explain what I mean there, think open-world. Not a sandbox, but there is no true "overworld/world map". Gives more of an exploratory feel imo as you don't have a zoomed out view of the surrounding world, just the locale that you are in. Think of pokemon with how you go through the zones, but this is much more open like in a modern open-world title like skyrim.

Depends on how many events you're running. It it has lots of events then there is a chance any map can lag out the game. Bigger maps tend to fall into that.

I made a big map for the overworld and It is massive with atleast 40 different towns and cities that are waiting for events. and I was going to make a new map when I made an amateur and stupid mistake.
