All of these really set the mood inside the tavern. Sunkeoun flagon is the tune I often hum. What I'd give for the return of these games where the adventure is very much alive. * sigh *

They really captured the feeling of a table-top session: The over the top hero personalities, the anachronistic inane conversations with random people in the wilderness. Game breaking spells. That era of CRPG worked in spite of the jank because it added charm. Its the same thing with immersive sims, the charm and flavour we miss out of them was lightning in the bottle. These games failed upwards in a very endearing way. This is why when the genre gets refined and improved it doesn't "hit" the same, and its specifically why they became cult classics.

Smoldering Corpse Bar theme is fuckin incredible. Strange, mysterious, sad in some way. I still remember when i first came to that tavern some 14 years ago and listened to Baatezu story about Blood War with that music playing in background, amazing stuff.

The amazing thing about BG Tavern 1 and 2 is that it sounds like it was actually recorded in a tavern from a fantasy world. The others eighter sound too clean and flawless or rely too much on sampled sound effects

Baldur's Gate taverns ftw :) I just love how the environments are drawn and how fitting the music is. It's very immersive in that respect and it achieves it without today's graphical fidelity. Another musically awesome game is Rome: Total War :D

A desperate cry out. Don't have hope but still... Back in the days of vanilla WoW they had an astounding music in the first undead tavern, in Brill of Tirisfall Glades. They changed it unfortunately to some soothing tunes after some update. But the original one - it hunts me till these days.
