The maestro playing the piano is Igor Krutoy (ee-gor Crewtoy) a very famous Russian composer. He only plays for Dimash when it is a song that he has personally written. He heard Dimash perform a song with A Train, and came out of semiretirement to work with him. Salmaltau is a Kazakh song, Dimash sings in his studio, it is a folk song about a Kazakh man who is forced to leave his country to march with the Soviet army to fight in their war. The composition uses some native Kazakh instruments that are absolutely haunting. Also, a newer song is "River of Love" which is primarily a musical song where Di plays the Kazakh instrument the Dombra (very well) and with only a keyboard to accompany him it is a lovely song. I think you've hit on the key element. He is an old soul and my guess is been reincarnated many times and been working on getting to this level, this lifetime for Lord only knows how long. I subscribe to the Edgar Cayce Paradigm of reincarnation. Namely, that we come back every hundred or so years often are born into the same family as we've been with before; sometimes we're male, sometime female but, we NEVER ever go into animals or bugs as the concept has been corrupted in India. The man on the Piano is none other than Igor Krutoy, the famous Russian Composer that heard Dimash's voice and came out of retirement to compose songs just for Dimash - like Ogni Pietra (Italian) which was made just for Dimash and the Olympics where he sang it at the opening ceremony. I would HIGHLY recommend his performance of "Samaltau" for the 2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival. It's much more of a stripped back feel, just him, a couple of musicians, and a backing track, and has a more traditional/native/cultural sound.

Igor is a very famous Russian composer who came out of retirement to work with Dimash. This is his song and he and Dimash together is phenomenal. Dimash developed some kind of Adam apple technology, like a throat gear shift. You can see with the bare eye how he controlled move it while he glide from deep to high notes, from falsetto through mixed to head voice with no effort at all. Its seems like a magic. Beside his enormous emotional performance, there is real organ engineering. i believe that one day when D become a teacher and mentor, he will transfer his invention or methodology on his students as one of most important legacy in human civilization. In Norwegian it's called _Gåsehud_ and he gives me it, every single time! He is the best singer I have ever heard and not only that butt his _INNLEVELSE_ my god... It's also a Norwegian word as I'm not sure if there is an English word that depicts it quite like _innlevelse_ does. Directly translated _innlevelse_ means inside living, butt it of course means to live what you are doing. Mean the words you are singing and oh my god does he ever. Funny that you mentioned that you hoped that was the sound you heard if you ever reached heaven.. That same section of the song... 'Ave Maria... ave amour...' always makes me cry, in a good way. My mom passed away in May, joining my dad, who died 7 yrs ago. She was so ready, she had missed him so much. When I hear that part, I envision her greeting mother Mary (she was a devout Catholic), and finally being reunited with her only love. I wish I had played this for her in her final hours. This is my favorite of all Dimash performances. Low and breathy, falsetto sounding like an angel. There isn’t a tone in Dimash’s voice that I don’t love. He is just stupa do amazing! Check out Sinful Passions next.
