This is really great. I know you've mentioned previously that you don't share sources, would you consider releasing a binary so that we can try it out also?

The Pico has no file system, so the ROM and games have to be embedded, and I can't legally distribute them. However the original target system is the ESP32, which has WiFi and file system support. But I will be trying to make a product of it first. The reason I don't currently release source is because I have tried it several times in the past and it drives no revenue through increased views.

​@@DevelopIT Yes, I have read your reasoning for not releasing sources previously, it is completely understandable and reasonable. With regard to the file system, check out littlefs or elmchan's FatFs, perhaps you could sell a command-line tool that creates a LittleFS filesystem image locally based on the user's local ROMs or with FatFs they could be copied to SD card or something like that? I reckon people would pay for it! All the best, keep up the good work!

@@DevelopIT you can distribute public domain games, and regarding ROM John Grant expressed (throu Randall Kindig) the authorization to allow distribution of ZX80 and ZX81 ROMS for not commercial purposes

Would you be able to run alternative ROM's for the ZX81? Such as the Azmic ROM.

The emulator, emulates the Z80 CPU and separately the ZX81 hardware. So it will run anything presented to it in that context.

Can it emulate assembly language?

It is emulating the CPU at the op-code level, so it does emulate assembly language.
