Thank You very much, normally 461 would haul these short distance tours but 461 is now a back up loco for number 4.

Irish Rail Trains Oh right.Ithought it was getting withdrawn soon the End of this year.Also why does it only go on short distance rail tours it used to go to Killkenny on the Marble City Rail Tours why did it stop.

They stopped using 461 on long distance runs because it has a very bad habit of breaking down and preforming very badly, for instance it would struggle to gain speed on the mainline and it easily suffers from failures. As far as I know it's lifespan has been extended until 2020 but that could change. So since 461 preforms badly the RPSI prefer using number 4, it's a far more reliable engine and can go twice as fast as 461, 461 is now only a spare loco if anything happens to number 4. But personally I prefer 461, I like it's appearance, I was never a fan of number 4.

Irish Rail Trains Me to.My favourite RPSI Steam Locomotive is No.461.So she is only a replacement Locomotive if No.4 breaks down.Does this mean there will be no more RPSI Rail Tours with No.461 being the appointed engine to pull them.Will she only be used if a Locomotive breaks down.If that's the case.That's annoying I was hoping to see her on Long distance rail tours to Galway and Kilkenny.What a shame.

To be honest, it looks like 461 will be more less confined to the Dublin area, the RPSI crew just don't trust it on long distance runs anymore, it's a pity though as I've been following that engine since it returned back to traffic in 2012. I hate the way number 4 is getting priority over 461, they need to give 461 a chance on short distance trips around Dublin as well. number 4 is mostly taking over 461's duties around Dublin which I think is quite unfair.
