(2 Sep 1971) RR7135A SOUTH AFRICA: BANDA'S HISTORIC VISIT
In mid 1971 President Hastings Banda of Malawi
completed an official visit to South Africa, the first
black Head of State ever to do so. In Pretoria, the visit
was seen as a vindication for Prime Minister Vorster's
"outward policy", designed to forge economic and
political links with the black states to the north and so
undermine African opposition to apartheid. We follow
Dr. Banda on his tour and take a brief look at conditions
in Malawi itself.

I know my distant, distant forebears sometimes/regularly committed terrible wrongs upon native peoples across the globe (not just Africa). I hope you will forgive 'us' and 'move on'. The world is in near total chaos. He was not a sellout but he knew how to play the game for his benefit and proving Britain wrong which always thought Malawi wont survive (by making economic deals with the Portuguese and Aparthied South Africa).

He was not traitor but he did what anyone could have done Malawi is not rich country he had to make plans to get funds even Aparthied money was funds it did play a role in Malawi.
