In this episode of Building a Barndominium, we see that it's not always easy. This job has been an absolute please and honor to do, but it hasn't been coming easy at this point. Every time Greg and I turn around, it seems that we have been waiting for something or someone. To knows fault too. It just is the way it is.
Stick with us tho, as I promise its going to be awesome. If you want a spoiler follow my IG. We do make some good headway on our Standing Seam Metal Roof.

Any chance you could put together a video explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each piece of heavy equipment you use for each role in the building process? Most importantly if you could only have one piece of equipment to use from start to finish which machine and why?

Probably the best Ryan’s kzbin.infoUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.

Good thinking with the shower. I just tiled a shower where they messed up the slope to the drain. It a real pain in the rear to get proper drainage with a flat shower base. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻

Lots of hurry up and wait for materials. We have been waiting for 2 weeks for interior window trim and baseboards, as well as about 800 ft of craftsman style 1x6 1/2 crown molding. Just got word late yesterday that all the special order faucets, sinks and bathroom fixtures are also on back order for 3 weeks. The barndaminium is looking excellant!!! We are working today to try and finish with everything else so floor crews can get in Monday. Ya'll be safe and see you on the next video.

Hey Kyle and Greg. I’ve watched a lot of your videos. I do most of my own work and have really learned a lot from you over the last couple years. I am detail oriented with my construction so I really appreciate the time you take to do things the right way the first time. I wish I could afford to hire you guys for a couple projects I have coming up, but I think I’ll have to do most of the work myself. My family and I are starting a farm in North Carolina. I need to build a rental cabin and barndominium for our home. My wife has been watching this build series along with me and it’s awesome! We’re trying to decide between steel posts/trusses vs wood. You mentioned in the first video that wood has more advantage. Can you give me some advise on this. Thank you for all the great videos! Bill

Is Greg rocking Oboz shoes? I do double lock standing seam that’s all we do I got the oboz recently looks like the same ones Greg is wearing. They have been the best shoes I’ve worn for working with the standing seam. I they stick really well to the seam and we are currently doing cap on a massive 12 and 10 pitch roofs so I can really attest to the fact that they are great for this style of roofing. Also good for ice and water/ synthetic

Love watching this build process, very informative videos, Kyle. I’m just gonna say the quiet part out loud… when you manufacture the parts in the country in which you are doing the construction, stimulate the economy, and incentivize people to come to work, and don’t flood the market with cheap labor, you don’t have these problems. These “challenges” you’re facing are a direct result of a FECKLESS and INCOMPETENT administration

Hey Kyle, I was wondering just for my curiosity because I might build something similar to this. Is there any way you could maybe do a break down video of average cost on everything that’s done in your residential barndos?
@mwww2589
@mwww2589 2 жыл бұрын
Not Kyle obviously, but i sell building materials. It's extremely difficult to do an average cost as every material has a few different grades of quality. There is just to many variable to get an accurate representation. It's best to just find a trusted contractor in your area to go over every thing with you. For example windows alone can swing a build 15+k depending on grade of window used.

I know eventually it will fail but I can’t see any weak point in this roof system! Maybe the paint will do great eventually and start to corrode the metal but even then you can just put another coat of some kind of sealant and it’ll be good for another 50 or 100 years lol
