I'm going to order one of these for my status 160, I have nothing against getting muddy or getting my bike muddy but with my current bike it loves holding mud at the pivot points where the cranks are, I have a small mud guard I've put upside down which works at keeping it clear... But now my yoke gets mashed with mud 😅. So this will be best for me.

@@ex3dy813 they work very well. Hopefully it will help solve the problem for you 😊

Thanks for this review. Do you take the guard off during dry seasons or do you keep it on year round? If you take it off occasionally, is it a bother? Just curious. I got it yesterday. It seems a bit overkill for most of what I ride but will be really nice in the spring mud season.

@@sfkendrick Hello 👋 It’s not a bother to remove it but it doesn’t weigh much and it doesn’t get in the way of anything, so I usually just leave it on 😊 However if I knew the trails were dry to the point where the rear ProGuard becomes useless, then I would probably remove it. A lot of the trails I ride though are often wet or they have a few wet sections. So it usually just stays on the bike 😊 I hope this helps.

Hey Jake, thanks for the review. Any chance you could tell me the measurement from where it connects to the seat stay bridge to the end of the mud guard? I appreciate this may be a tedious question, so no worries if you can't for whatever reason. Thanks for the review still!

No problem at all, just measured for you. Mine is approximately 310mm on the tail end of the mudguard/upwards from the seat stay bridge and approximately 210mm (uncut) on the front end of the mudguard/downwards from the seat stay bridge/towards the bottom bracket. Hopefully that makes sense). My seat stay bridge makes up the rest. I hope this helps.

Great review! How close to your rear tyre do you run it? I’ve got it about the same on my bike as it looks like you have it but in really thick mud I wonder if it’ll clog- have you had that at all?
@JakeBrookesBiking Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I run it as far away from the tyre as possible, so basically touching the little bridge between the 2 seat stays. Since making this video yes, I have managed to clog up the rear wheel but this has only happened once, at a venue with incredibly sticky clay type mud. I believe if I wasn’t running the rear ProGuard, it would still have clogged up. Apart from this one occasion, it hasn’t happened. I hope you found this video useful and I hope this helps 😊

Does it protect your back & backside also or just the bike frame?

This ProGuard Rear Standard does a brilliant job at protecting the shock, linkages and bearing, however it does not give much, if any protection, for the rider.

Protecting your linkage is definitely a priority. This does it relatively well, without looking obnoxious. Nice vid!..
